From what I heard this show did very poorly in Japan, so it probably will not be getting a season two unfortunately, but one can hope.

No worries fam! With the amount of love poured into this series from the production team, the voice actors, and the fans, we are absolutely locked in for a second season. There are marketing and promotional campaigns up the wazoo over the next year and even received praise from the likes of directors of Your Name and Prison School. Chainsmoker Cat is here to stay!

They have an anime tierlist they uploaded on YouTube for an extended answer, but in short they didn't like how the style of world building was limited to repetitive meetings in a single room. They found that incredibly boring so they dropped it.

Don’t believe what Western media tells you. They tend to misrepresent what Japanese say about the show for some reason. Japan actually loves the show! There’s a reason it got picked up in the first place and it’s because of the huge following and growing fanbase there. You even have the likes of the directors of Your Name and Prison School praising the show.

From what you've heard? Don't tell me you've watched some clown named "CJ Dachamp" 's video, is that it? The "CSC is being dropped by Japan for being too disgusting" rumor is a forced meme that has been created and spread around by puritan haters. The show actually did very well. Even Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, admitted he was a fan of it.

I've seen so many American losers trying to push the narrative that this anime was some kind of weeaboo's psychotic waifu porn and tried to cancel it before it even started. That's fake news. When the show aired, everyone bought the manga until it was sold out everywhere. The manga company had to reprint more to stock up shelves. This show is very very popular in japan.
