Going back to what Kuvira said about Aang and Zuko stealing earth kingdom land, these two and the earth king had a plan to free the earth kingdom colonies that were under the control of the Fire Nation but Zuko saw that the people in the colonies were at peace even the earth kingdom citizens so eventually they decided to keep things how they were without giving direct control to anyone. One of those territories Aang went to and made it the base for Republic City.

i'd guess its because Aang was a child, and had no experience as an avatar at all, so his mistakes were just part of him growing up and understanding that he's the avatar. Korra however is like 16, had all of her training, and was completely capable of being an amazing avatar but wasn't one because she constantly made dumb mistakes and got her feelings mixed into everything. she kinda just seemed like a disgrace of an avatar to me.

What i love about korra personally is that she doesn't always win but she still does get her shine Season1: Carried several pro bending fights. Whooped tarrlok's ass, until he blood bending which was something that no one can really break out of without the avatar state. Whooped Amon's right hand, and exposed amon Season 2: Was beating unavatuu in his human form before vatuu decided to come out to steal raava, which is something the avatar isn't able to do, and then beat him in his spirit monster form getting back raava. Season 3: Fought against Zaheer while her hands and feet were put in platinum chains, Fought Zaheer when she had a bowls worth of metal poison in her that zaheer even said, should have killed her. And this is just off the top of my head for all the seasons. And this season was more about her personal growth really, as it shows how much she changed over the series like how in the first season she was cocky enough to challenge amon to a 1v1 but now she attempted to talk to kuvira and get an understanding of who she's dealing with rather than fight first hand. and how she's more open now. When it comes to achievements she's (IMO) the most impressive, She quelled the tensions between benders and non benders within republics city, she brought back an entire nation from the brink of extinction, aided in defeating a terrorist group and is now in the process of attempting to stop a dictator from ruling over the earth kingdom.

exactly. And they weren't just any terrorist group. They were terrorists who were said to be capable of destroying a nation, which they did. The Earth Kingdom fell for the second time and it didn't take a hundred years like it took the fire nation. They left the Kingdom in chaos and disorder and if it weren't for their disbelief in world leaders, they could have taken over the kingdom too. She fought a prodigy bloodbender who could bend with his mind and the spirit of chaos and evil. I think people don't give her enough credit. Sure, she lost her connection to her past lives but i think the writers did this because she needed to have her own story without having to reach out to aang all the time. It sucks that one of my favorite things about the avatar was taken away but i don't blame korra for it.

I mean, it would look horrible if you brought your whole army to back you up, had the enemy surrender, and then suddenly said "oops my fiancé got kidnapped" and retreat. She'd get her ass jumped by the ENTIRETY of the Earth Empire if she did that.

Just something i noticed following several Avatar reactions over the year. It's funny how everyone seems to agree on how amazing the Avatar series are, with wisdom, depth and great lessons to be learned ....... and then you look at the community being toxic af, and arguing like the most immature people ever - guess while praising the lessons most people forgot to actually take them in 🤷‍♂️

It makes me so happy that I see more people change their mind on Korra. It shows that people are starting to understand the struggles that she's gone through. Fans should remember that while Korra was almost a fully realized avatar at 16, she was isolated from the world by the White Lotus and she never had the chance to travel the world and search for her own teachers like Aang did. This as made evident when Korra found out that it was the White Lotus that made the decision to keep her in the compound and not Aang (even though it was to protect her from Zaheer). To an extent, Zaheer was correct when he stated that the White Lotus has lost their purpose since their main purpose was to spread love, beauty, and knowledge, and not be the Avatar's personal bodyguards. Korra has not interacted with other people outside of the compound until she escaped to Republic City. It was her experiences with the outside world away from the compound that shaped her into the Avatar that she is now. She may have restarted the cycle, but she's also the first Avatar to have mastered all four elements, to metal bend, energy end, AND spirit bend. She's already a more powerful Avatar than Aang ever was and that was through her experiences and interactions. Just because she's had struggles, doesn't make her any less of an Avatar, if anything, it makes her stronger. It seems like people and some fans never liked the idea of humanizing the Avatar because the character itself is supposed to be "all-powerful" and can't have the capability of making mistakes. If they do, then they're considered a failure and that's simply not true. Aang was a child and who was human, who learned how to be the Avatar. Korra grew up being the Avatar, and learned how to be human.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but fans that think like that basically just want "another superhero", in my opinion. The show teaches so much about balance and how you have to look for the good in the bad, aka growing from your troubles and challenges. Missteps and losses are part of a balanced life too and make you more whole in the end. Ignoring and judging that is ignoring a big portion of the shows philosophy.

Ozai during the comet > Zaheer > Unaaloq > Kuvira. very very very casually. As he was overwhelming a fully realized Aang pre Avatar state who was ALSO amped by the comet. Meanwhile Zaheer got massively overwhelmed by Tenzin, Unaaloq was mainly relative with Korras dad and Korras dad does nothing of relevance truly, and Kuviras feats mainly scale lower than Tophs as a kid. Meanwhile Aangs Team Avatar fully thought they would get clapped by Ozai despite having Zuko, Katara, Sokka, and Toph when aang went missing. The only ones that would defeat Ozai is Unavattu, Amon, And that big ass Mech.

Didn’t like Mecha Kuvira vs everyone like at all. It has some moments but ehh. No one did anything but try to attack her head on. No creativity at all. Like the most powerful earthbenders in the world save for toph all in one place, and they didn’t just open a big hole in the ground, drop this bitch in and crush her. It’s platinum not vibranium, it’s not indestructible. Just too little impurities to bend it. Fucking set a booby trap or something. You knew this bitch was coming for days, and did nothing but line up stationary battleships for her to destroy. Don’t know how Varrick used an emp to take some before but didn’t think to put ‘em in a perimeter around the city. Where was the on the fly creativity that fucked up P’Li or thought to make a freaking hurricane to stop Zaheer. It’s like the writing of this show just reset everyone’s experiences every season just to make the bad guys seem more sinister and sneaky. Like Lin not believing Mako about Varrick after he just helped uncover all the Amon shit. Like what.
