The best way to describe why Hyakkimaru killing people is bad is to compare it to Batman's reason for not killing. If Hyakkimaru keeps killing people then eventually he's gonna get to a point where he would resort to killing to solve any problem he has. For example the dude that tried to stop Hyakkimaru by pulling on his arm, Hyakkimaru was ready to kill him just cause he tried to stop him from entering war territory.

I don't think it's hypocrisy on Tahomaru's part. He literally has no choice. It's either his brother who he just met or all of his people, family and friends he's known for his whole life.

Understatement much, one is order of magnitudes different than the other though, to the point that the comparison is nonsensical . A toy no matter how precious is not intrinsically yours, Hyakki's body is his body. There is no petulance in wanting the return of your flesh which was taken without your consent.

People let their hearts bleed way too much which causes a lot of bad decision making. People really admitting they'd like a bunch of people suffer slow deaths just for a guy they don't know. Yeah a guy. Not a brother. Just a guy. Tohomaru doesn't know him. He didn't grow up with him. He grew up with the two retainers that have been by his side his entire life. Those are his family.. Not Hyakkimaru. Then again, same can go for me but the people dying of illness and famine is more relatable.

This pretty much raised my point last episode in my comment about Hyakkimaru losing his sanity everytime he's being enabled to act justifiably crazy over him wanting his body back. He's gonna go crazy at the wrong place at the wrong time and start killing people who don't even deserve it.

@Occasionallykook. It's an analogy, man. Like a child who has their toy taken away, they go on a tantrum and will not settle down until they get it back. Hyakkimaru is the child, the toy is his actual body. It makes sense. Remember, this is a MOTHER speaking so she's gonna use maternal terms to compare things in life to eachother because she'd had baby hyakkimaru on her mind for 16 or so straight years. That's why she chose those words.

I got the analogy, but saying his current mental state is comparable to a tantrum shows a certain callousness/ignorance towards the situation. Hence my original statement of her being obtuse even if not purposely. Words of a mother they may have been, but it was still a witless utterance given the severity of the matter. this show has done a good job depicting why the whole "they could just leave," thing isn't plausible. this is the 1470s. if you have a family, you're not going to take the risk of taking your entire family out of the village. what if you run into bandits or even worse, (in our case) ghouls? there are multiple wars going on. what if you don't find prosperous land before you die of starvation? you can't just pull up google maps and go to the nearest village that isn't suffering from poverty. what about plague? its extremely unfair for hyakkimaru as he shouldn't have to carry this burden. and I also see the side of daigo wanting the land to remain prosperous. but saying "they should just leave" is just missing the point. if it were that easy, they would have.

A lot of ppl were hostile back then so it wasn’t uncommon for ppl to threaten others with a sword for even minor things like being annoying or let’s say grabbing onto my person and holding onto me. Idk who are, want you gonna do and you don’t have the right to. And we making it seem like he kills for no reason like this time period isn’t hostile asf even if there wasn’t demons and shit.

@The Uruk Slayer the thing is though Hyakkimaru wasn't the type of person that would threaten people like that in the beginning unless they were being obviously hostile to him. You're right in saying that people around that time would threaten people that way but I'm saying for Hyakkimaru himself he wasn't that way until now.
