I think the only reason they might choose Reo is because he has the best control of the ball and can pass better. The others on the main team are all strikers, a great passer would help possibly more than another fast striker.

I love how, from what I’ve seen so far, Isagi’s personality depends when he’s on or off the field. When he’s off the field and not in game mode, he’s a pretty nice guy. But when he’s on the field and in game mode, he turns into a menace. I love the duality of Isagi.

They probably choose Chigiri. Kunigami's performance is underwhelming so he will not be taken. Or they can take Reo like Roshi said, and we'll have interesting 1vs1 with Rin's team: Isagi vs Rin, Bachira vs Reo, Nagi vs the super buff dude and Nagi vs the glamorous guy.

Here's an interesting thing for everyone if ever they're interested if you try searching "Chop Dribble Barou" on youtube you can find a Japanese youtube channel where they do soccer stuff and they showcase some soccer stuff But the important part is that you'll see a video where they showcase techniques show in bluelock one of them is Barou's chop dribbling (dont view the rest of the video tho as it contains possible spoilers people might not like) Luckily the first technique they show is Barou's chop dribble (you can activate captions to see how they explain iirc, if not, its still pretty cool to see it shown irl) There's also Chigiri's no slow dribble but that's towards the end of the vid, forgot the time stamp tho xd) there's also another vid dedicated to showcasing Bachira's dribbles in earlier episodes (however there is no proper translation for it, just a pure showcase) There's also a recent vid they did where they did a shooting contest with some pals where they ONLY do Isagi's direct shot (or in more known terms, a volley shot) But yeah amazing content as always you three!

Because he says that the losers are at their crossroads of giving up or keep going and it wouldn't be a crossroad if they have no chance. I feel like he just said that at the beginning to get the most out of them, but it's not entirely true

Alot of people keep saying theyre gonna pick Chigiri still but after the entire explanation of despair and potential then them showing Chigiri first and hes in utter denial, im honestly convinced that they are going to pick Reo, hes a jack of all trades and it was his pass at the end they counted on, also he was the only one in actual despair do to the loss so hes ready for his awakening.

Is it too much of a hot take to say that this gives Haikyuu a run for its money? I played volleyball in high school, love that show but this makes feel that real competitive, dog eat dog...and I never played soccer ever.

Naw, haikyuu is just a diff show/diff goal. What i like haikyuu for IS the teamwork and sportsmanship. Thats what MOST sports anime are about. Diamond no ace, kuroko, etc. Haikyuu is like the quintessential sports anime, especially since its really good on all fronts. It wasn't the first, but it sure set a precedent. Blue lock i loved for the "upgrades people upgrades!" It was so FUCKING dope in the manga seeing isagi become more and more epic, along with many others. Blue lock is like the anti sports anime, as it goes against many sports anime cliches. Both have great cast, great character development, great mc, great games/battles. AND ALL THE HYPE! You are better off comparing blue lock with sports or shounen anime that has tournament arcs (like its some dog eat dog world) (ex: hxh, those boxing animes, etc). "There can only be one!" Haikyuu should be compared more to animes more about "nakama" against a common goal/enemy, and should be praised that it kept a lightheartedness to it while still being hype and not so "kiddish". Different strokes fam, different strokes

I think they tell two very different themes that while can be compared you can't really put one over the other, While Haikyuu is telling you the importance of teamwork and how even a strong player can be beaten by a cohesive team and does really good character growth/depth for even smaller characters' I think Blue Lock is showing you that that team mindset will keep you stuck as an individual, having a good team is great but if you're unable to carry your own weight and rise to the top that hunger for growth will stagnate and have you fall behind the other players while at the same time still giving you that character depth and growth. Both very great stories while very different approaches to it. Even at the start when Both Hinata and Isagi lose their games, how they have to approach it afterwards is so different but both compelling.

Damn, I just remembered thr jersey number matches the rank now. With Reo at 10 and Kunigami at 50(damn 😆) I think they stand a good chance to win together. Reo had a bad weekend, but he's not a scrub by any means. I honestly expect to see a lot of familiar faces going forward, especially after seeing Raichi and Gagamaru again. If we get Bachira back, the 5v5's are gonna be SICK! Can't wait to run the fair 1 against Ol' Kuon, ya heard? 😆

Chigiri is the right option I’d say Reo is without a doubt the best player on this field but the current format doesn’t allow him to shine like he could on a full 11 a side Reo is a perfect mid fielder who does better the more options he has for passing. On the smaller field they’re using with only 3 people it doesn’t really give the best of what he could do Kunigami is definitely the worst option, his physical is amazing but when you consider who isagi is planning on taking on next he’s just flat out not good enough to keep the ball from Rin, Aryu or Tokimitsu (especially tokimitsu who has that crazy strength) Meanwhile chigiri can keep them off him with speed and cover loose balls meaning our team will have a bigger safety zone if they can’t get a clean tackle, as well as his great scoring potential on his own

Here’s kind of my thing with the whole blue lock situation. There are players here that are good but honestly shouldn’t be there like reo. He is a great player but not a great in this setting because it is meant for strikers. He would be amazing in a different position, yet he is trying to be a striker.

Barou passing was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to him and I loved every second of it but I also loved how he stayed true to himself and just leveled up. If he would've changed and became a supporting team player that would've been so predictable & lame but why they hit us with a cliffhanger like we all don't know that they're gonna pick Chigiri. You could say the same for Isagi being better suited as midfielder for setting up plays? The whole thing about Bluelock is being a striker/goal scorer in whatever capacity you want to be. Just being fast and/or aggressive doesn't mean you're better suited as a striker than someone like Isagi, Rin, or other characters not yet revealed. Like by that logic Kunigami should be in the discussion for everyone's pick this episode, but everyone wants Reo or Chigiri.

absolutely not. blue lock is enjoyable for what it is, but haikyuu is in a league of its own. haikyuu was amazing at introducing a large cast but still being able to make pretty much every single character a complex one with thorough characterization. the fact that you're able to root for other teams besides karasuno is a testament to that. and the passion that the creator has for the sport is easy to see with how much care is put into the execution of the matches. blue lock is like your basic shounen story. it's full of tropey characters that are lucky to get half-assed backstories if they aren't completely forgotten about. rather than the technicality of the game being highlighted, it's the aggressiveness of the players that stand out the most. even if you prefer blue lock's theme, you're not being truthful to yourself if you think the execution of the story is comparable.

In the setting, Reo is using everyones weapons strategically and adapting because hes so versatile. Remember in the first selection he was a top goal scorer. He has the skills and ability to be a great striker, just because hes not starving for goals doesnt mean hes not suited for the position. Later in the manga, you get a glimpse of everyone’s evolutions and how they become better goal scorers, but dont doubt Reo bro is HIM
