So the artist is really good at copying the image examples you give him, but if you just say 'sassy' results are mixed. I was about to do just that without sending a photo reference, but I've since learned my lesson.  That being said, i'm not 100% sure what qualifies as a 'sassy' expression myself.  I've included a handful of sassy expressions, so we can pick one for the artist to give Heather in the cover. As always, feel free to give feedback or in this case, drop a link to something better if you're not feeling any of these.

I’m ashamed to admit my attraction to the disgusted/sassy reference image may be affecting my judgment

Parably

Heather always has given me the vibe that she does the whole disgusted/sassy look when you’re looking at her but the moment you look away she smiles. That’s if she likes you. If she don’t it’s just more disgust.

Jacob

The lady with a bow looks more like a smirk than annoyed to me? And a self satisfied smirk seems more “sassy” than the sneers the other two have. Imo, anyway.

Cliff

What's the scene? In what context is she making the face? Sassy gives off a playful "oh you devil, you" connotation to me. But if she's being annoying little sister sassy. Very different face

Apoca

I'm not sure sassy has an expression, but the first image does look like Heather to me.

Macronomicon

it's a complex one, isn't it? it's got layers. the mouth looks tight at the corners though.

Macronomicon

or maybe it is a smirk. never said i was the best at reading expressions.

Macronomicon

the scene? them arguing over directions about how to get to the museum so they can loot it.

Hayden Leech

Eh just personal preference, kinda thought she was described with straight or flowy hair reddish hair. Not barely under control super frizzy

Haganedragon Latency

When I think of mocking/sassy I think of a smirk or full blown smile depending on the current situation, so the third picture seems off. For Book 2 cover I imagine for the situation I imagine annoyed/sassy.

Haganedragon Latency

The problem with the disgusted/sassy is the context of the cover, while it looks great and would suit Heather, their just looking at map. It would give more vibes that the character still hates Perry in my mind.

Jonathan Grant

Agreed, not one mention of frizz in the story. It really goes against my mental picture.

Jon Moody

This is similar to the one I like. I think these two are much more in the right neighborhood for the expression.

StrollingEye

The expression needs to fit on a cover (small) and be able to portray sassy that sits with love - so sassy mouth and body posture, eyes kind with love. The eyes might be missed at tiny scale.

Jon Moody

These expressions are "I'm jerking your chain because I can."

Cliff

Ooo that's a good one. Although to my mind that's a: "he just agreed to my plan" look. Pleased and a touch flirtatious. I feel like there should be more of a put-upon aire

DM

I’m glad I’m not alone.

I was surprised by her hair texture and style too. I like the cover version, but it isnt what I imagined which was longer and straighter and wavy instead of super curly. I guess I just have imagined a young Jean Grey? Lol.

Carl Mason

I would go for somewhere between #1 and #2. Kind of a concerned/uncertain, "really, can you even read a map?" kind of of look. Skeptical, maybe. Skeptical-sassy. Raised eyebrow, half smirk, a little head tilt...

Carl Mason

I like both these expressions mixed together with a dash of 1 and 2. Kind of a "can you believe this guy" type of expression. Playful, confident, annoyed, fed up... all together.

mhaj58

I would think a more classic tsundere expression would fit better with the cover.

BluEarth

I HATE the DUCKFACE

Phnglui mglw'nafh R'lyeh

I would vote for a mischievous smirk, in all of the examples she would look like she genuinely dislikes Paradox. Maybe an exasperated laugh at something he said, like she kind of hates that she found it funny.

Gavriel

None of the above.... They look more exasperated, except the duck face... If I had to pick one, it would be the first one, simply because it looks Tsundere, as it looks like she's trying to dislike him, but doesn't. The first one fits Heather best, but isn't what I'd call sassy, more grumpy/vulnerable.

Pastor Joubert

smirk. she only contorts her face in wrath, like a true warrior.

Michael Neal

Upon reflection, none of the above for me. I like the picture the way it is 🤷
