Loved the reaction and discussion! 🥰 Had to take a break for a few weeks and have now caught back up just in time for the next cour! So this covers a few episode sets. Have to say again, these discussions have been amazing for someone who has not read the manga, I love learning even more about the various changes and details and what kind of improvements the anime has brought in. 🥰 About Kon from ep 7-8: “I like when he’s in his cute little lion form and I like when he’s not doing much” – this sent me 😂. In general, the Kon Induced Vexation in these is so funny to me! “Kon has made it to the Royal Palace and Aizen has not.” 🤣🤣 Also loved the excitement about the “Kenpachi” match up! I think you touched on probably my one greatest issue with a lot of (primarily) shonen mangaka: manufacturing the death of a character because they’ve run out of ideas for them. I have to say, as someone who has relatively recently rewatched the entirety of the series (but again not read the manga), I can’t say the Unohana “reveal” fully worked for me enough to overcome what I see as a fascinating character being spent as fuel. I wish the anime previously had given her a bit more development, maybe then it would have felt less jarring to me in a way that undercuts the tragedy of it all as well as the finality of her perception of her duty. As in, I get all that intellectually, and the sequences were spectacular and beautifully put together, the OST amazing, the voice work stunning, etc, but emotionally it didn’t quite connect for me the way I would have wished. I loved meeting Squad Zero and so glad we’re seeing more of them individually. I also absolutely NEED a spin off of the original Gotei 13! So many amazing designs and so much potential! The “Everything But The Rain” pair were such amazing backstory episodes! Loved finally learning more about the families. And I really love in this set the way the two families and their conflicts+fates are framed as perhaps examples of how the different aspects of Ichigo’s powers/nature could (or need) to work together. With Isshin and Masaki where an improbable connection ended up being so loving. And with Ryuken and Kanae where duty shaped the connection, and repression and hierarchy made it all into something much quieter and more unresolved. I know the latter is intended to be more about Uryu's internality but I love the way it could also be read as an internal path-not-taken for Ichigo. Maybe harmony vs resignation. This was an amazing cour overall, it really hit the ground running and didn't stop at any point! Looking forward to the next set! 🩷🤍

Everything but the Rain is here and it’s glorious.. This was perfectly adapted..i can’t put into words how long i waited for this to be adapted, and how scared i was that they d ruin it .. but i shouldn’t have doubted studio spierrot!! i ve been fangirling ever since about Isshin and Masaki.. that confusion and curiosity at first becoming a flame that opened their horizons about their respective races and made them doubt what they knew up until now The longing and feeling, the budding romance are do well portrayed. Masaki is such a badass queen and Isshin is just the most reliable person she could have met.. i feel bad for Ryouken , but i know that he wasn’t in love with Masaki to begin with , but he cared for her and was willing to take care of her and fulfill his duty … but i think Katagiri is a much better match to him and i m happy for the later for ending up with the man she always loved Fan fact: Kubo said he didn’t know how to write romance and had to read some romance books to be inspired in prep to everything but the rain 🥰 Also Aizen best Masaki Isshin shipper 🤣❤️ for research purposes His sapiosexual (someone who is sexually and emotionally attracted to intellect and knowledge) ass couldn’t resist the unexpected variable, and what derivative consequences it could lead to 🤣aka horny for science Aizen > and thus why for me the only possible match for him is Urahara 😁 Shensui and Ukitake are both dual wielding, we saw it when they duke it out with old man Yama in Soul society arc Tensa zangetsu is the bankai version of Zangetsu, taking the form of young *zangetsus* The reveal that Zangetsu was Ywbach fromm 1000 yrs ago was earth shattering for me .. i remember people mocking Kubo at the beginning of TYBW arc in the manga accusing him of a lack of inspiration because Ywbach looks like old man Zangetsu, well joke on them.. I m not really sure if bleach was supposed to end after Aizen got defeated imo becasue there was still unanswered questions, around Masaki, why Isshin is a shinigami in the living world, how did Zangetsu revived Ichigo after Kenpachi killed him (activating the blut) etc … I love the imagery of the inner world , it’s one of my vary favorite representations if inner world in anime, and how it’s *weather* is dictated by Ichigo’s emotional state. Or as Old man said : when you re sad it rains in this world .. So I loved the inner world instant shattering when ichigo learned that old man Zangetsu lied to him , and how it shook him to the core and made his inner world drawn under surface .. the only other instance we ve seen the inned world in that kind of despair is when everyone lost to Aizen and he was meant to learn the final getsuga without believing in himself at first.. Also Ukitake is the one that set the substitute shinigami badge 🥰 I m so happy you ve enjoyed cour 1 .. it’s literally perfect adaptation.. now onto Cour 2 It was a bliss to see you fangirl and giggle and dissect all of it .. thank you for a great time ❤️

Thank you so much!! We covered a LOT this week! 😀 I’m so glad that the manga vs. anime discussions are fun for you all – it’s super interesting for me to go through them! Seriously, Kubo is such a troll for getting Kon the progression he has, but yeah, I’m not a Kon fan, so the less he gets involved…THE BETTER! Bwahaha! XD Ahhh, I am not a fan of a character having to die because they’ve “served their purpose” but yeah, I wish the series had done more with Unohana – I’ve “made peace” with it after years of reading the manga and being a grump about it, hahaha, but I wish she could have stuck around and did more. It’s SUPER jarring when it comes out of nowhere the reveal and then IMMEDIATE character death. I totally get your perspective because that’s how I felt with the manga reveal when it originally happened! I would LOVE an original Gotei 13 spin off – Kubo is a master of creating characters you INSTANTLY want an entire spin off based on; it’s wild! I loooove “everything but the rain” so much! Love the way you frame this for the two families – yesssss! I could not say it better! GLORIOUS is such a good word for it! I just loved it so much! Yes, such a long wait and they did it justice! I’m 100% an Isshin x Masaki fan!! All of the yearning, the romance, the chemistry – SO. GOOD. Ryuken gets allllll the angst in this mini-arc – so true; he cared for her, but didn’t “love” her that way. Katagiri is definitely a better match for him and he seemed to love her, too. Honestly, I am glad Kubo did some research; I hope he read some good Shoujo! 😛 And AAHAHAHA, Aizen shipping Masaki with Isshin for “research purposes” is so perfect. SAPIOSEXUAL - yes! “Horny for Science Aizen” – yes, the shipping with Urahara is real – poor Yoruichi! Okay, thank you – I thought they both were (more shipping fodder, ahem) but I’m glad you clarified that, here. And yesss, Tensa is the “young version!” Honestly, I was right there in the forums where folks were like, “Ywbach looks like Zangetsu” and the moment it was revealed Masaki was a Quincy, folks were theorizing – I love the connection Kubo makes with it all. Yeah, I remember that “rumor” going around, but like you said, I still felt that there was so many questions left to be answered – I’m glad we get this final arc! Ichigo’s inner world reflecting his feelings with the weather is such a lovely, little somber touch. And yess, the shattering when he feels his own core has lied to him; so well done, here. And yes, it definitely connects back to that moment right before Ichigo faced Aizen the ‘last’ time. Ukitake, sweet bean – we need more of him in this series! And yes, Cour 1 was SUCH a great adaptation – now I’m excited to dive into Cour 2! Woohoo! Thank you for the comment and kind words - I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
