Rest in peace, Abbot, unsung hero of Thousand Autumns. We hardly knew ye. 😞🥺 I’m glad you brought up the art in this chapter. I watched the show before reading the book, and remembered Song being animated in a way that made him look super sinister. So when I saw this art it actually took me a minute to realize that was supposed to be Song! He looked so normal! I was confused why they made him look so different when all the other characters we’d seen looked pretty much the same between the book and the show. After giving it some thought, I think it might be because of the additional censorship placed on Donghuas. The show couldn’t tell us all the awful things that Song is known for like the book does, so they leaned a lot more heavily on visual cues and implications. Meanwhile, the book draws him like any other good looking guy, which makes sense. I feel it’s very fitting for the themes of TA to have so much vileness lurking behind a normal, charming face. Loved hearing your thoughts on YWS’s actions and motivations too! And we’re getting so close to going past what the donghua covered! Thanks for the video!

Dislikes? Why?! Now I gotta go read the other comments. This is my weekly book club! Sang Jingxing is disgusting. I remember reading these chapters and wondering how in the world Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao would EVER come together after this. "Only one type of person is qualified..." Such Hannibal vibes. Shiwu! Child acquired. I dont know that Yan Wushi KNEW that Shen Qiao would recover. I think he was more 'experimenting' and testing Shen Qiao again. 'If you make it through this, you're worthy still' kind of thing

I do nor understand why you would get dislikes under your videos, you definitely are my favorite reactor. But I think thats maybe a lot od people are used to super fast reactions of the other reactors on YT and your long analyses may not be for everybody? I surely would not like you to talk less, its actually the reason I'm here that your reactions are like that. I watch every Thousend Autumns reactions just usually don't comment because I do not really know what to say. But I think after reading to this point that I see Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao as "immovable object vs unstoppable force" but both are both immovable object and unstoppable force at the same time LMAO. I thinks that is mostly why I like their dynamic. Sang Jingxing is very gross but I also like that the story is not afraid to have a character like that and call it accordingly. Like use the words rape and raper, because that what he is. A lot od stories are dancing around the bushes with topics like that. But here we are yeah, he does that, he is that and thats very bad actually!

This set of chapter is Heartbreak city 💔💔 Yan Wushi, I have some very strong words for you.. yeah i get our demon sect Master got scared of feelings… but my man, giving Shin Qiao to Sang Jinxing, be it as a punishment because he made you feel things, or as a way to push him to surpass himself, or even for pettiness alone is a jerk move Sang Jinxing is an awful person, a known rapist and sadist. so I have a bone to pick with YWS about this betrayal he did here and handing SQ to such gross man 😤 I still love him to peaces but i wanted to smack the shit out of him in this moment especially when SQ who didn’t cry even in his worst moments, cried here from betrayal… it shows how much he meant to him at this point. Now the Abbot and little disciples death? Undeserved and tragic beyond words.. the Abbot went out like a boss.. may he and his little disciples rest in peace. And little Shiwu’s and SQ’s grief .. breaks my heart… Glad we passed this chapters even if i love to read them but they always make me so sad … Now let’s dive into the journey to Bixia sect 🥰 Thank you for another amazing video 🥰

The Abbot was such a good character! He went down like a champion! The art in the book differs a lot from the donghua, but I like the choices the novel artist has made for sure! Sang JingXing looks SO different between the two adaptations, though! Sort of like a specific SVSSS character, I guess, as well. 😀But no, that would make a LOT of sense for it being because of the things that character has done in the novel, and since we can’t express it through the story, we’ll let the animation tell the tale! Good point with that! I like it! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I cannot WAIT to see what is beyond the donghua’s content and to get into these later chapters! I appreciate it!

Thank you for the comment and kind words! It was mainly a dislike without any “reason” on the video, so who knows but I’m glad to get the support on here! Sang JingXing is VERY gross – and yeah, how SQ is going to get with YWS after this…THAT is going to be interesting to see unfold – but hey, it’s only Volume 2! Yan Wushi is SUCH a tsundere, though. SIR. And yes, now we have Shiwu! “Child Acquired” is so funny to me! Of course, YWS testing SQ…sir, you are playing with fire! XD Thank you for the comment!

Thank you for the kind words!! I’m not sure why, either; maybe it was that it was too long for them, but I’m glad you all are enjoying the reactions and my rambles! I appreciate that support! So thank you! And it’s good to know that folks are still watching even if not commenting; sometimes I lose track of that and need to be more aware! I totally agree on the “immovable object meets unstoppable force” with these two! It makes me VERY intrigued to see how they’re going to “move” forward with this dynamic! And yes, while Sang JingXing is TRULY despicable, I appreciate that the story makes its villains TRULY evil. And yes, use the words - that’s what he is! *claps* It IS very bad, and we shouldn’t toe around it. Thank you for the comment, the support, and noting that!!

This chapter set – hoo boy! Yeah, YWS is indeed pulling a jerk move and I’m hoping SQ has words for him! Because yes, SJX is AWFUL - it’s really bad to hand someone over to such a despicable person, even if you did give him a “way” to fight back. For SQ to CRY at THIS moment and not the others? UGH, YWS, you have some explaining to do! And then to have Chuyi and the Abbot’s death on top of it? Ugh, the Abbot went out like a pro, but that was so heartbreaking! Shiwu and SQ grieving together makes me want to give them the biggest hug! Oh Bixia Sect and all ITS DRAMA, hahaha!! I am glad to be past the sadness so soon (we’re only in volume 2) but who knows if more will come – in any case, SQ hasn’t been killed, so maybe that means he’ll just get stronger from here? I can’t wait to find out! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

I call the donghua team the biggest YanShen fans because they do SO much to make sure Yan Wushi can be redeemed. 😂 The donghua is fun to watch after you've read the novel because you can clearly see the donghua team making their YanShen dolls kiss and play house. 🤣 I love the donghua lol! AND YES, I DIDN'T REMEMBER WRONG. SHIWU *IS* THAT KID!!! The novel had me doubting myself and everything. 💀 I agree that Shiwu, while already likeable in the donghua, is much better in the novel. In the donghua, he's very much a child who needs taking care of. But in the novel, he has his own optimism and adaptability to his situations, as well as kindness and compassion. To me, he's very much like Shen Qiao. Despite all of the cruelty and terror of human nature that Shiwu has experienced in his life (his father prioritizing his own survival over Shiwu's mother, himself, and his siblings'; living every day in fear of being eaten and not getting anything to eat; watching his mother be sold off as a meal; watching his siblings die; being sold off as a meal before being saved by the abbot), Shiwu still doesn't lose his gentle heart and optimism. The donghua takes a lot of that away because the cannibalism is obviously censored, and his family situation and experiences aren't touched upon. Another thing I want to note is that Chuyi is also much better in the novel. In the donghua, he's more petulant, as children can be. But in the novel, he's much more lively and welcoming towards Shen Qiao. He has a sweet childlike innocence about him, which makes his death even more tragic. It truly is the common people who suffer. I'm excited for you to continue! I love Thousand Autumns so much, and I know it'll become one of your favorites by the end! Meng Xishi does an AMAZING job at keeping the readers grounded and invested in not only the main couple, but also the state of the world around them. She makes it very clear that there is a bigger picture here than just the main couple getting together, which a lot of authors struggle with (no hate, but ahem, MXTX). There is a whole world out there that exists, with people who have their own stories, struggles, and beliefs that are not forgotten in favor of focusing solely on the main couple. Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi are their own person with their own set of morals and beliefs. When you put the two people together, you DON'T get a cohesive set. They are NOT two puzzle pieces that fit together, nor are they fated— and that's what makes them so interesting.

Oh yeah, you can tell the donghua team is REALLY trying to get us to be into YanShen! XD “making their Yanshen dolls kiss any play house” - AHAHAHA I love that! So true! Yessss, the novel had me doubting that kid was Shiwu as well! And I like Shiwu more in the novel to be sure. Great points about all that! I agree, the censorship with the donghua does make it to where we miss some of that with his character. And yes, Chuyi is MUCH better in the novel! And yes, that made his death all the more painful! Thank you for the kind words and comment - I am SO excited to get further into this story! And yes, the romance and intrigue with our leads is there, but there’s a grander plot going on – hey now, MXTX is writing a straight up romance, though, not so much a fantasy story, but I get what you mean. ;) And that they aren’t “destined partners,” does make it interesting as a story!
