I love every time we get to see the sunshine that is ace Sawamura 🎉 there aren't enough sunshine aces if you ask me lol. I dont know what it is, but the face Kataoka makes when he sees Nori in the bullpen gets me every time. Its so worried and confused and overwhelmed at the same time. Ive been waiting for the backdoor pitch for ages lol its so dominating and such a filthy pitch to go from outside the zone to inside that fast is wild. Our boy Sawamura may not be a good batter BUT hes getting better! Lots of batters cant get any contact off Amahisa but he fought for a whole pitches! Pretty insane if you ask me. I think a big part of Nori wanting to be in the bullpen was that he has a level of guilt on the pressure he KNOWS he's putting on Sawamura. Because the best part of Nori as a pitcher is that him being the closer and always ready to step in means the other 2 can go as crazy as they want. Nori not being in the bullpen all game probably did unknowingly add pressure to Sawamura so even though they all know he cant pitch, him just being in the bullpen could help ease SOME tension from Sawamura. I think thats the goal at least. You mention how Mei would never do a pitcher rotation and youre kind of right lol but we have seen him have to take a backseat to Akamatsu and he was not happy at all. He complained the whole time lmao. The thing I love about Sawamuras batting stance is that we saw in earlier seasons that he actually can get a hit when he starts in a bunting stance. So him holding the barrel of the bat is imitating the start of the bunt stance and it, for some reason, gives him more consistency in his swing. Thats how a lot of great batters start with weird stances though lol. I think what's really cool about Kataoka as a coach is that hes all about giving his players confidence. He doesnt want to do anything that might make them doubt themselves so when it comes to Mochi stealing, he knows that if he had changed up his orders to always go for the next base, it would make Mochi think Kataoka doesnt think he can do it and it would decrease his own confidence in his ability. Kataoka knows that mistakes will happen, players will be a little lax on things or take things for granted and things will happen but by continuing to say the same orders, hes saying as long as they learn from it, its totally fine. I love that. Its kinda sad to me that Ryousuke doesnt think he was an offensive threat because I remember in season 1, a lot of pitchers were weary of him. He was a really tricky batter. I guess because he couldnt really hit homeruns? I dunno, I feel like him not getting to play much in college hurt his confidence.

We need more sunshine aces, but I’m not sure any would be as great as Sawamura! Right?! You can just tell that Kataoka understands where Nori is coming from but is also worried and confused by his actions until he starts the shadow pitch - I love him as their coach. I totally agree that Nori wants to help ease the pressure on Sawamura! I love pitches described as FILTHY – and the Backdoor pitch - ahhh, our ace did that! And he’s improving on his batting! ESPECIALLY against Amahisa! HAHAHA - I remember that with Akamatsu (the so-called demon) and how he did NOT want to watch him pitch; our King is a DIVA. I love how Sawamura holds the barrel of the bat – it’s such a good thing to point out – I love it’s his own! And yesss, Kataoka giving his players confidence! That’s great to bring up; I love how as a coach he encourages his players. I love his consistency and the power it brings! And seriously, Ryo having those doubts?! Nooo – so many were scared of him in Season 1! I always thought he was a great player, as well! But yeah, maybe it was his track record in scoring? In any case, I wanted to give Ryo a hug this last episode! Thank you so much for the comment! I can’t wait for this episode to come!
