I feel like we're RACING through this series. I really should join the Discord, but I'm so antisocial... Naw, you're not the only one thinking they had something going on. But still, his plan was terrible. "I should be the leader! The Sect is failing under you!" Kills everyone. How is that helpful in strengthening the sect? I've only read this series once, and I remember not liking these chapters much. There were so many new names all of a sudden, and I cant remember if they even come up again. I DO know, that the last two made up for it, and I think you'll enjoy them a TON.

Zhao Chiying was one of the changes the donghua made that I didn't enjoy. Donghua Zhao Chiying was very sympathetic and didn't really seem to hold Ruan Hailou accountable for massacring the sect, even offering her own life to make up for the previous sect leader's wrongs. I thought that was Such A Choice because novel Zhao Chiying had so much more presence and hardness to her. I like novel Zhao Chiying a lot! Bixia Sect was going down the path of ruin because of the weak foundation that the previous sect leader had left behind, and Zhao Chiying's lack of leadership. Instead of leading the sect, she passed off the duties to others and only focused on her cultivation. You could say that this massacre was her wake-up call. Maybe it's just me wanting to make connections, but she's a lot like Shen Qiao, who disregarded secular events and focused only on his cultivation, inadvertently weakening the sect and leading to Yu Ai's betrayal. Don't worry, you're not the only one who ships Ruan Hailou and Hui Leshan! They make it hard NOT to! Ruan Hailou was like, "He made me lie with a woman! Twice!!! (Once with the drunk scheme and the sect leader's daughter, and the other with the Goguryeo princess.) He ruined my life! In this month of pride!!" 😂

I really like novel Zhao Chiying, for all the reasons you listed, yessss! She’s such a fierce character and I love her presence in these chapters. I didn’t “not like” her in the donghua, but you make a good case for why she’s better in the novel. It’s interesting to get more into the Bixia Sect and get a follow up on it this week. Adding to the lore! Definitely a wake up call for ZCY and her sect, and YES, I loved how much her and SQ had in common. I’m sure SQ could make connections while there as well, and it shows how much our Daoist Priest has grown! I’m also so happy that others ship Ruan Hailou and Hui Leshan! Yay! How could you not?! We definitely feel like we are flying through these chapters but I think I'm just SO eager to get to the post-donghua content! And no worries - if you wanted to be in the Discord, you totally can, but you don't HAVE to! :D The channel over there IS pretty quiet! And yeah, there was SO something between those two men -- I won't be convinced otherwise! I can see the slew of new characters just dumped onto the scene being a LOT - I feel in that sense, watching the donghua helped to prepare me for it! At least now...there....aren't so many to keep track of? *drum tisssss* Annnnd I'll see myself out! XD Thank you for the comment! I am HYPED for the last of this volume - it's going to be fun!
