After last week's harrowing ending, we pick up with Kagari being missing and our crew stumped on her whereabouts. Meanwhile, while Okarin is seemingly just "moving forward," Daru and Suzuha are taking steps in their own direction, which could involve actions Okarin is not going to be thrilled about, to say the least!

Right out of the gate I have to say that Suzuha and Daru going behind Okabe's back to rebuild the Time Microwave is so problematic. I understand Suzuha being so adamant into its creation and usage, considering everything she's lived and seen in the future; and Maho being recruited to help and being willing despite Okabe's warning makes sense as well and is, actually, great character development for Maho. But Daru doing it as well feels like the biggest betrayal. He saw Okabe after he decided to save Mayuri and not Kurisu, he is the one that has the longest history with Okabe and who has ties to him, and would maybe be affected the most by Okabe's complete breakdown - I'm unclear if he told Daru why he stopped his research on the Time Microwave, saving Mayuri and letting Kurisu die, or not - and you would expect him to have Okabe's best interest more at heart... not that I can't understand, as well, that he wants to help his daughter, and that he understands how terrible the future will get if they don't do something. But it still stinks a lot, and it spells nothing but trouble. And that's another thing, one that I actually really like, and that's how great of a dad Daru is to Suzuha. Like, this man will lockdown and get things done if his daughter needs the help. That's very admirable, to say the least. Maho getting advice from Amadeus that she would still do the research, built the machine to prove it's possible and then decide if to use it or not it's so accurate to Kurisu herself. She went neck deep into the research of the Time Microwave until it became apparent how dangerous it was, and then decided that it shouldn't be used any more, exactly as Amadeus advices Maho. I like that, that Maho will be following in Kurisu's footsteps like that but, as she says herself, forging her own path. We had very little of Okabe in this episode, didn't we? A lot of things are happening that affect him but that he has positioned himself in such a way that nobody wants to include him for different motives - yes, it's mostly just Suzuha, Daru, and Maho in both accounts xD - and, I don't know, I guess I just missed him.

It’s WILD that they’re going behind his back to build the time machine! Suzuha does make sense, because she’s pretty desperate at this point. And Maho makes sense as well – since she is determined to follow beyond Makise’s shadow! I agree, it’s great character work for her! But YES, Daru feels like such a betrayal! He knows how much this hurts Okarin! It’s like, I get it, but it’s very sad to see him betray Okarin, here. I do appreciate that Daru is a great dad and can lock in if he needs to. I definitely agree that Amadeus giving Maho advice is very on brand for the memory of Kurisu. And yessss, not a lot of Okabe felt…crazy. But yeah, so much happening in this episode without him – it makes me nervous for him!! Thank you for the comment!
