Be still my heart! What an incredible commission OMGGG and it’s already been recommended before? Wow this really stands up imo in terms of animation because the quality was stellar. The choreography alone was just amazing. I’m a little conflicted if I even want a sequel film. Maybe an extra scene to see what they’re up to in the future or a manga. I’d read it in a heartbeat! Loved the reaction and discussion. I honestly had quite a number of pairings in this film and yeah Luo Lang is just battle sexual XD. His character being hung up on a “worthy” warrior that contrasts to our no names’ hero newfound strength to protect really left an impression on me. I’ve seen this kind of set up before and I ADORED what they were setting up. Because no name had sealed his sword and eventually breaks free for the sake to protect a life. Kotaro. 🥺 He cannot take back the sins of the past but he CAN change his life for a different direction. It’s no wonder he’s got nightmares with the guilty conscience eating at him. There’s nothing he can do imo to redeem the innocent blood he spilled but I do see hope for atoning what he’s done. Hmm, should we try giving him a name? I’d like something like Suzuki but what do you think? Sorry I’m having two completely unrelated thoughts now. ANYHOW, I really appreciated the brief conversation Itadori has with his wife about no name because while he lost his way he never truly lost his gentle heart. And seeing him come across and become strong for Kotaro was so heartwarming. I'm a sucker for found family so it makes me super happy that they seem to continue on together. I do wanna add. It was such an unnecessary dialogue about the princess. That coming from admist the battle really had me rolling my eyes. She was given no agency/say in the matter so to me it was poetic justice those ladies ended him soon after. Glad it was noted and I found it funny you mentioned the twats who'd "but it'd be historically accurate." Shut it. It had no business to be added 😭 HARD agree with you! But yeah, Man... who didn't die in that stronghold- violence only leads to more until nothing is left. This was so bloody I'm just glad they didn't get super detailed and panned away from the dismembered bodies. Yeeessh. With that said I still very much enjoyed the film and I'm glad it was brought to our radar finally. Looking forward to the next commission 🥰 P.S. Tobimaru was the mvp! He saved our butts more than once. So proud of the little one 🥹

Loved the reaction and discussion! This was such a fun rewatch! 🥰 Various things I loved: The opening credits as part of the fight scene but it also functioning as Lou Lang’s introduction Tobimaru working hard to develop their relationship! 🥰 Kotaro saying that to stave off nightmares - just curl up with something warm that you love, so sweet 🥰 Loved the whole notion of the sword getting “locked up” Lou Lang’s: “Haven’t you lived long enough?” The courting ritual of that last fight scene 😆 I would highly recommend the ENG dub, it is excellently done and handles multiple languages very well. 🥰 I also really like how compact the story is, just very well executed, I feel. And always such a nice rewatch. Totally agree with your note about the gore not being overbearing or distracting. Of course, themes of resistance?! Always. 😆 I especially love the way this all focuses on resisting the structures they are in and the way those structures would only work through absolute obedience. So we have Kotaro not wanting to submit to his fate as a “sacrifice,” Nanashi regaining his agency after obedience already broke him, Lou Lang… just being Lou Land because obedience bores him. 😆 Love them as a trio of characters. Of course, Tobimaru is the true star! Thank you to Jason N for another amazing commission! 🥰 Looking forward to the next entry! 💙

This commission was SOOOO good! Yes, I’m glad that I’m finally getting around to it! It DEFINITELY stands up in terms of the animation quality! Honestly, I’d be up for any “extras” if there was a manga, but the film was so good, I’m not sure a sequel would be better or live up to it. Thank you for the comment and the kind words! There were a number of pairings in this, but agree, Luo Lang is battle sexual! I love the idea of our boy breaking the sword out to protect someone in the final hour - so satisfying! I love how he works to improve his life moving forward! I liked that his name being “no name” was interesting, but that name sounds good hahaha! The fact that he never lost his gentle heart stuck with me; I love that he found a family and worked to protect them there at the end. Yes, the princess dialogue was really just unnecessary - we didn’t need it to establish that these are “manly men” and I just don’t like that “owning women” is viewed as a sign of masculinity…*le sigh* What can we do? At least karma was served by the end of it! That stronghold battle was a BLOOD BATH. Still, I really enjoyed the film and hope more people get to see it! And YESSSS, Tobimaru was not only MVP, but Best Boy, too! <3

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! This movie was so much fun and I love my English Dub list continues to grow! The story is just so compact but well paced and well-executed (no pun intended). And yeah, the gore had purpose and wasn’t over-the-top, but aided to the story and tension. Kotaro was such a great character to find his “place” alongside Nanashi, who had such a road to go from start to finish in this story. ANd hahaha, Lou Lang was a great antagonist who just wanted to be Vegeta to Nanashi’s Goku! 😛 Or Kenpachi to Nanashi’s Ichigo? Is that more it? XD Having the story climax with those three left felt appropriate! And YESSSSS, Tobimaru was protected! I’m so glad he lived through this all! Jason N had a great commission!! Excited for what’s to come with the commissions!
