Semiu got the same ok from the author. She was told to speak naturally. Just, how she would speak those lines herself. The VA spoke a bit about how refreshing it was. The writer is great at making this episode so sad, for a character we saw for 30 seconds. Very tight, well written episode. A very good, deep, well written 'filler' episode. For the Riyo bed scene, I'm going to push back a tiny bit. It's obviously intentional. But I feel like it's intentional on Riyo's part. She knows what she's doing. She has the entire conversation basically facing away from Rudo, laying on his bed, instead of sitting like a normal person. Which is out of character for her. Then it gets heavy, she sees Rudo struggling, and she leaves while giving him more 'motherly' advice. I don't like it, but I felt like it was her feeling Rudo out. They are the same age. But this scene is also why I do NOT ship them. He's mentally NOT the 'same age' as her. For an author who nails complex feelings and relationships so well, I'm giving the author the benefit of the doubt that there is/will be a reason for it. But yes, it's intentionally icky and I rolled my eyes the first time, but some damaged women act this way. I'm crossing my fingers it's not just dumb fanservice and it fulfills a story purpose. Gris/Enjin/Gob trio. I'm generally a dirty multishipper. It IS that dep Romania! Canvas Town is awesome. It's kinda like Elysium. A party town as long as you 'come in peace' Remlin's a child. Their gender doesn't matter. A lot of fights get started over this and I hate it. Enjin's reaction to Gobs death felt, to me, like: "Oh, I lost something before I even realized it was possible." 36:30 He also reads a bit scared though? Like "Oh that could be me" a bit? and also mad? This is why I give Riyo's bed scene the benfit of the doubt. The author/artist put 3+ emotions in one still face. Maybe I'm crazy but she seems too good for basic dude fanservice. My theory is that becoming/triggering a Jinki needs something 'traumatizing'

That’s neat about Semiu’s VA! And yes, this episode was really well done with the writing, character work, and getting us emotionally invested in a short-term character! Yeah, I get that Riyo knows what she’s doing, but that was part of what I meant…why is a 15 year old sexualizing herself in front of another 15 year old? I don’t like that her go-to emotion for “feeling someone out” is sexualizing herself in front of them - that to me, shows past experience where that strategy has lead to the results she was expecting and that’s…WRONG AND DISTURBING. SO yeah, that was also what I was getting at. It’s really deep and engrained into our culture as a society, and I loathe it. I’m hoping the show doesn’t do something like have Riyo have a past with SA, because for her being the only main female character, it plays into a really terrible trope that has translated to real life but *nervous laughter* no spoilers, y’all. We shall see! Sorry, like I said, this is a really triggering topic for me, so I get riled up when it’s mentioned. I hate how it’s normalized to have SA as a potential plot line, for one, and for two, that we have to have the only female character in the main cast be the one it happens to because we’ve normalized that it “just happens” to women. HATE. IT. Yeah no, I did not think it was to try and ship them. And “some damaged women act this way” - Don’t know if you saw my Berserk, RGU, or SVSSS reactions, but uhmmmm…you’re sadly preaching to a heavily affected choir here. ANYWAY! Back to the nice things! I will try to trust the author and that they are going to do something meaningful with that plot line. Hahaha a DIRTY MULTISHIPPER I am as well in this, and our blonde trio having some sort of history – it’s so good! I feel for Gob dying and Enjin’s reaction, though. You can tell he’s been hit hard by this! I love Canvas Town so much! Remlin is so great as a character, too! I love them already! This was such a good episode overall! Thank you for the comment!
