In the middle of the vid so I’ll delete this if you bring it up but, you accidentally skipped over the egg-heart thing that shows up after the title screen Also man there was so much talk about this scene when this episode came out, there was so much “LETS GOO RUDO YIPEE” 😭 there was also some Amo hate that I saw, which.. I mean fair ig but idk, maybe it’s just me in the fact that I find it hard to outright hate a character but Amo just doesn’t feel like a character worthy of hate 🤷

Rhast

Delmon and his wife also reminded me of the two in FMA.

domdodom

you talking about that scene reminded me of people celebrating when the ep was released 😵‍💫 caused so much debate in the fanbase

I wouldn't say I hate Amo, but at the very least I do believe taking over someone's mind and forcing them to love you is super extremely violating them. So I can understand it. It reminds me of X-Men actually, with Charles Xavier you learn he does the same thing to people, and changes their memories to make them useful to him, and there's something about that which feels one step removed from brainwashing, even if it's not truly malicious, it's a huge, huge red flag of a power.

YESSS! I'm glad you see the vision as well! Thank you for the comment!

I'm sadly not surprised that there were people celebrating her getting pummeled by Rudo...again, I think the mangaka knows what they're doing with Amo's character and the reactions of the fandom reveal a lot about them. *sips tea* "Interesting." XD Thank you for the comment!

I don't think I skipped over anything in the reaction (I watch straight through), but if I missed something in the discussion and it comes up in the show again, then feel free to bring it up then (but no spoilers, hints or clues, pleaseeee). I'll try to check it out before the next eisode I watch, though. Anywho -- yikes with cheering on Rudo. Rudo immediately regrets punching her and reacting violently - we're not meant to "celebrate" Rudo's rage, at least, that's the mindset I get from what the mangaka is saying by the end of the episode. I don't think you have to "like" Amo, but she definitely is a character portrayed REALLY tragically. Thank you for the comment!

I definitely understand why people wouldn’t like Amo - her power is sinister! A DEFINITE red flag of power. But when it’s been made CLEAR by the mangaka that she’s been a victim of some HEAVY trauma…and then people are cheering the assault against her that’s pretty excessive…I mean, she was already restrained at that point – then it’s sort of a red flag against those that are celebrating. Yikes. But I do like your example of Charles Xavier! And he was portrayed as a GOOD GUY. Thanks for the comment!

Ye dw I’m not gonna hint at anything, just letting you know 👌 And yeah exactly on Rudos rage, the show even makes it a point to (for lack of a better word) “demonize” him

romaniablack

Thank you so much -- I'll definitely try to look for it to talk about before the next episode I watch! And yessss -- there's so many layers with Rudo's character and his anger issues; I appreciate how REAL the mangaka is making it, along with the struggles of other characters in the show.

Yes definitely, cheering on Rudo is terrible and disgusting, I was not grouping people who dislike or hated Amo with people who cheered on Rudo, but there's probably a bigger overlap than I thought in my comment. Rudo's violence was very much uncalled for, no matter how terrible a thing he had to relive or how close she put his team to death, once she is no longer a threat, beating up a victim of trauma, or anyone at all really, is disgusting, and if anything would create dislike towards Rudo for his actions. There's a tough debate too if Rudo's actions were his own - he's surely suffered like Amo, in different ways. I also think this kind of post-fight beat up happens quite a bit in shows, and there's an audience that revels in the violence of it and violence in general - I haven't seen Mad Max, but maybe that kind of stuff comes to mind, or something even more brtual. Like almost all anime, there appears to be a huge shortage of therapy available to our protagonists, which is sorely needed for many of them. After all, how many characters (particularly the more villain-adjacent ones) in shows, especially shonen, don't actually have some tragic past in need of working out? It almost feels like one of anime's biggest, over-used tropes in some way, the tragic past backstory. And like a lot of characters, my feelings towards Amo changed quite a bit from her initial appearance, to the first fight (low point), to the aftermath, and beyond. I don't doubt some other people who might have hated her or not liked her initially also felt differently later on, or it's even possible if you aren't paying full attention at first you miss some of the details, I think a lot of people just watch shows with half an eye, while they're doing something else, etc. But no doubt, lots of people are just dumb and bigoted and there's a lot of hate towards women, so it's a pretty complex character. And the people who enjoy violence of any kind are out there too, sadly. The world just kinda sucks, it would be nice to change it and have everyone care and love everyone!

romaniablack

I agree – once she wasn’t a threat anymore, there shouldn’t have been any more violence. I do think that his actions were his own - we have to have accountability - but he is definitely influenced by his anger issues. And Mad Max I don’t think revels in the violence so much as using violence as an aesthetic, but that’s a whole different discussion. But yeah, the meme of “If there was therapy in anime, there’d be no plot” is so true in so many cases hahaha! I agree, too, that the more we discover about Amo, the more sorry and empathetic towards her I feel, and I believe that’s the point! But yeah, there are people in this world that do suck - at least there are those that don’t like in this comment and with Patreon on here! 😀
