I love these chapters where we get actual insight into Yan Wushi's thoughts. It's incredible how far he's come and how he now recognizes that Shen Qiao is someone he doesn't want to lose. Like you pointed out, it's the little actions that really show his growth as a character. He saw that he upset Shen Qiao with the memory of Chuyi and the abbott and Yan Wushi's own association with that, so he made up a dish and method of eating so ridiculous that it took Shen Qiao out of the memory. But ALSO!!! From what we've been told since the beginning, Yan Wushi is a germaphobe!! Pre-betrayal, he wouldn't even eat or drink out much because he felt the dishes weren't clean enough. Before the betrayal, the furthest Yan Wushi ever got to was drinking tea with Shen Qiao. Now??? This guy is swapping spit and wiping blood and tears with his own bare hands. He used to just hand him handkerchiefs!! And then pretending to be Xie Ling to be able to touch him??? When he's spent his entire life being unapologetically him??? He's starting to get so down bad for Shen Qiao! He's trying to plow Shen Qiao's fields, but first, he has to reap what he sowed! It's also funny (in an endearingly pathetic way) to see him almost go into qi deviation out of jealousy. With your references to Beauty and the Beast, to Yan Wushi, hearing Shen Qiao say Xie Ling's name in his sleep is like if the Beast had heard Belle call for LeFou in her sleep. 😂 And Shen Qiao mourning the loss of Xie Ling is a lot like Belle crying when the Beast sent her father away: "You didn't even let me say goodbye! I'll never see him again! I didn't even get to say goodbye..." The movie just works so well with Thousand Autumns. 😂 Take care of yourself! School is always stressful, but the beginning is even more so. I'm glad this novel helps you de-stress (although Shen Qiao would beg to differ 😂). Your Thousand Autumns reactions make Mondays so fun for me. Only good teachers make Mondays feel good! Good luck with the new school year, and may your new kids be sweet!

Someone is catching feelings … big time 😂 And to be Jealous of one of yourselves, while you re aware of that fact is WILD! Only YWS can pull that up 😛 But i completely stan Shen Qiao in his decision of being weary of YannWushi and not believe anything coming from him… YWS’s betrayal cut deeper than anything for him (wonder why?😛 🙈) and YWS shouldn’t get off the hook easy nor win SQ’s trust just because he showed a softer side to him… Shen Qiao is a real one.. despite everything, he never turn his back on YWS when he needs him .. take note you tsundere Demonic leader in denial 🥺 I agree this set of chapters is just chef’s kiss.. and the discussion was delicious as always ❤️

OOHHHH the feelings are being caught! Seriously! It’s wild and only Yan Wushi could be jealous of HIMSELF. But yes, I am glad that SQ is not wavering but instead holding YWS accountable and making him realize things about himself and making him realize that if he wants SQ, he has to do some growth! I 100% agree with you!! SQ is such a real one and I love him for it all! And yes, this chapter set was great! Thank you for the comment and kind words! So excited for what’s to come!

Yessss, any time we get into YWS’s thoughts are welcomed to me! He really has come so far! Oohhhh, that is a good point about him being a germaphobe - I forgot about that!! I love how you describe all of this but the ‘Plowed field and reaped’ line?! GENIUS! LOVE THAT. And yessss, he really did almost enter qi deviation from sheer jealousy! AHAHAHA NOT LEFOU THOUGH?! XD NOOOOOOO – I really think that line about “You didn’t even let me say goodbye” is soooooo on point with the comparison of Beauty and the Beast and Thousand Autumns! *wrings hands* Ahhh, this week (the week before classes officially start) was really stressful, but I will definitely be leaning on this series to help make my day better afterwards, so I’m glad that you feel similar! Ok, gotta lock in. I'm behind again. Thanks summer. Finished the reading. My thoughts: They're so stupid. Yan Wushi in particular is so dumb and I understand Shen Qiao. I want to bash him with a rock. Why do I like him? This book it really hits hard that this is an adult couple. I love MXTX, but the pairs are YOUNG. Even if they aren't by the end. I never blame Shen Qiao. Yan Wushi is getting everything he deserves. Shen Qiao is kinder than Yan Wushi, but he is actually just as arrogant as him. When Shen Qiao believes he's right, then that's that. They are so similar. | Listening to the discussion, as a Christian, this feels like their first hurdle. Yan Wushi must 'truly repent and change his ways' and Shen Qiao must learn to actually forgive, even when it's hard. It will only work if both parties pass their personal test. Two people learning to fit their pieces together to live their lives with each other. Shen Qiao saying Xie Ling in his sleep almost sent Yan Wushi into a Qi deviation. Crazy.

Lock in time! No worries; I’m so glad you are getting caught up! 😀 But yes, they are both dumb, your honor. And yeah, YWS…SIR. Come on, sir. And yes, MXTX writes a lot of young love, but I do really love this story for being a more “mature” couple! 100%! And oh yeah, I have always WISHED Shen Qiao would realize things about Yan Wushi, but never blame him - Yan Wushi brought this all on himself. And oh yeah, Shen Qiao DEFINITELY is stubborn and hard to move once he makes his mind up about something. And I agree with you, YWS needs to repent and change his ways and Shen Qiao must learn to forgive or at least that it’s okay to forgive. But yeahhhh, YWS being jealous of a child…that is HIMSELF.
