WAKE-ING HEADPHONE WARNINGS

Klein is finally ready to advance to the next sequence - but while he's ready to celebrate this advancement, it's not going to be a sunshine and roses experience! For an episode called "Party," it's definitely a heartbreaker!

Hehe, what a fun episode!! I was grinning so hard my cheeks hurt! (˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵) Klein being a bad liar is rrl funny because his whole side hustle is lying to people and pretending to be a deity. Wonder how the tarot cards meeting would have gone if the grey frog wasn’t hiding their faces during the meetings. XD The part about “three red gloves” has some sort of incorrect information. You were correct in your original thinking that they’re a whole squad. I don’t know Chinese, so I don't know if it’s a subtitle mistake? And I can’t really guess what it could be saying instead. When the donghua refers to him as “one of the three authoritative red gloves,” I will say that I genuinely have no idea what the “three” could even refer to in this context. Maybe someone else knows better and will comment on that. While everyone else was crying this ep, I was fangirling after Dunn. Like this was the episode that made me go “oh, I see it now” when it comes to him. Something about his cool and calm approach in this was the hottest thing ever. Old Neil’s death was sad, but I feel like,,, I just didn’t get to know him for long enough to actually get attached enough to him. And that’s why it didn't hit me as hard as it could have. So that's also why I was really happy when you declared Old Neil as your fav, because I knew that this episode would hit you with it’s max potential. Anyways, ep 10 next week :D Excited :D :D

Four Sunsets

The moment that broke me was when Klein saw the charm 逗比 “Silly Idiot” and couldn't help but laugh. As a Chinese person, I laughed with him because it was such a light and fluffy word that so didn't belong in this stuation, the absudity of everything wrecked all proper emotional response to the point that all there left is to laugh on instinct. And then everything sank in and true sorrow started. I was already crying before this, but the charm scene was the ultimate knife twist. My favourite teacher in middle school (who also helped guide me in a very lost time of my life) loved using the word 逗比 “Silly Idiot” to admonish us when we got too rowdy, and he actually looks very similar to Neil with the same portly figure. As for foreshadowing in previous episodes: 1) In ep5, the vendor asked Neil if he brought money for the spring of elves. One of the ingredients you didn't note down was half a pound of pure gold. From this we can deduce that Neil was stingy not because he liked worldly possesions but because he need to buy ingredients for the resurrection. Since Neil mentioned before that the main drain on his wealth was preparing for rituals, he probably experimented many times before in secret. He couldn't expense the materials for the resurrection as there was no way to reasonably explain why he needed those things (Evernight rituals use silver and essential oils). Like how Klein had to pay for the gold he needed to create sun charms (ep8) out of pocket, Neil most likely used all his money to buy ingredients while reimbursed everything else that he could give a somewhat valid reason for (such as the food and clothing in chibi 5, I strongly recommend rewatching this one, so many hints!). Another evidence of Neil experimenting multiple times is that the figure Klein saw in ep2 was not wearing a dress, unlike the one in this episode. My guess is that he summoned the wrong soul by accident. This time he finally summoned the right soul, so in his mind this would be the last time he needed to conduct the ritual. Maybe this is why Neil suddenly became so generous. He thought he didn't need to save up for ingredients and could finally celebrate Celeste's return alongside Klein's advancement. 2) Murmurs from higher sequence beyonders. We've already seen this several times with the mentions of "Hornacis" and "Flegrea", once when Klein drank the Seer potion, once when the Antigonus notebook was calling from the rubble, once when the clown in ep 3 when he briefly revived after being shot in the head, and once now when drinking the Clown potion. The interesting detail is that the clown only said "Hornacis" and not "Flegrea". The only two Seer organizations that we know about (which probably have high sequence beyonders) are the reportedly destroyed Antigonus family (we know descendants such as Bieber exist) and the Secret order created by Zaratul looking for Antigonus relics. Who do you think the murmurs are from? 3) Daly knowing the acting method. In Neil Class 3, he menioned that Daly was a prodigy that reached sequence 7 in just 2 years. It was hinted this early on that her speed of advancement was unusual! LOTM is a show that really rewards rewatches.

Yeah... I had being waiting for this episode since you started seeing death flags on Old Neil. Gosh, this was such a sad episode. Really, what a miserable work, having to be the ones to put down, for lack of a better term, your friends, the people that best understand you and that you've probably known for years, because, yeah, that's your job, but also because there's literally little to no one else that can do it. It's terrible. Dun sending for that artifact so that they can give Old Neil a peaceful death... ugh, my heart. So far, all the beyonders deaths we've seen have been fierce battles, brutal and violent, whether because the beyonder wanted to cause harm or because they were too far gone and force was needed. But Dun bringing that artifact that seems to literally calm Old Neil down is such an act of mercy and love and it makes me emotional even now. The funeral scene was beautiful, in the most heartbreaking way possible I really like what they all recite to send Old Neil off. Very beautiful. And I like that they all participated by saying a little part of it. The fact that Klein's act of love and protection to his friends, telling the acting method so that they can be safe and not lose control of their sequences, becomes the last drop that sent Old Neil over the edge is a cruel bit of irony. I might be wrong, but I believe that they all had to put their hands on the sword not as a symbolic, cultish thing but because the power of the sword literally binds them so that they can't share that information with anyone else, probably, though this is mere speculation on my part, at the cost of their lives. And, in any case, their jobs and existances is very cultish if you asked me, the sword swearing just fits the motif really well xD And Klein is a clown now - which is something I never thought I would be happy for someone to accomplish, lol - and can defend himself a little bit better, thank goodness xD

A heartbreaking episode indeed! 😭 They tried to make us think Neil was safe after last episode, with Haver dying instead, only to pull the rug out from under us so hard in this episode! Poor Neil tried so hard for so long! On a lighter note, I’ve been meaning to tell you that the new camera looks great! It really makes the colors pop Thank you for the video!

Well this was utterly heartbreaking I cannot rewatch this episode without crying everytime.., It’s just so sad that Neil ended up dying because he couldn’t bear the loss of his wife When despair, sorrow and love are mixed.. it can be fatal and it was for him He couldn’t accept the death of Celeste, of his weakness, he thought he could change fate… He could never let her go 💔 What killed me is the team.. Dunn deciding to kill Neil as an act of respect from a friend , Klein breaking and crying, leonard and everyone else weeping It’s just so cruel For the show to finish us of with the *If I can’t save her.. then I shall accompany her* 😭😭😭 Thank you for another amazing reaction and discussion

Everything sinking in that scene is so sad! It’s such a simple scene but so emotionally effective! Thank you for noting the foreshadowing as well! I hadn’t realized that from Episode 5 with the springs! And him being stingy to have the ingredients…ugh my heart! I’ll have to re-watch that Chibi episode! I’m not sure if it was that he summoned the right soul or not, but that’s an interesting theory, and a spooky one at that! I really love the re-watch value of this series; that’s a great catch on Daly! Thank you for the comment!

*nervous chuckle* SO MUCH FUN, RIGHT?! Hahaha, I love how you all had so much fun with my naive pain, hahaha!! Yes, Klein is such a bad liar – and seriously, I think if that gray fog wasn’t there, it’d be a SERIOUSLY different series! Thank you for clarifying that with the “three” gloves, though and it not just being three! I appreciate that. And seriously, Dunn looks SO GOOD! I honestly see it as well with him…now, don’t get any ideas, show! But the Dunn fangirling is so real, here! I get what you mean – I didn’t “cry” per say at his death - but as I really loved his character, the way his death went down was so horrible and sad! Ugh, my heart broke for him and all his friends in the show! And yessssss so ready for Episode 10! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

Ugh, such a sad episode! It’s a ROUGH job being an organized Beyonder, that’s for sure! And yeah, Dunn won me over this episode with how he handled Old Neil and helped to calm him down…ugh…it’s such an act of mercy and love, indeed. It made me feel for his character so much! Yes, I loved the color spotting in the funeral scene! So beautiful and heartbreaking – and Klein helping his friends because he doesn’t want to let them end up like Old Neil – we love our bean for it! Go Klein! Help keep them from losing control! Ahh, that’s probably the case with the sword, but that act itself is still….a wee bit culty for me, haha!! But it makes sense! And yes, being happy that someone is a clown?! Wild times, but I’m glad he might at least be safer! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

My heart broke for Old Neil and everyone in this episode! And yeah, the rug was pulled so hard because I thought the same after losing Havre the previous episode! Ugh! And thank you SO MUCH about the camera -- I'm actually really happy with it!! <3 Thanks for the kind words and the comment! This show, I swear! XD

romaniablack

SUCH a heartbreaking episode! Yes! Ugh, my heart hurts after watching our boy Old Neil pass….I hated that he worked so hard trying to bring his wife back, only to lose himself in the process. Seeing him succumb to his weakness is so harrowing…he loved her so much and it sucks he suffered from working so hard to save her. And then UGH, Dunn taking the reigns to be the one to kill him? MY HEART. Klein breaking and crying, everyone so sad - you could feel the emotion in that room. So very cruel indeed! And yes, that line, ugh – it’s haunting, to be sure! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!

Thanks for your reaction. Binged watched it. How is the plan to watch from episode 10 onwards? Chronological Watch Order or Release Watch Order Because after Episode 10 chronologically the 3 OVAs take place, and after that, Episode 11. And do you react weekly to this series?

Full middle finger to the Hidden Sage. That LLM-type AI-like M.F. doesn't care if forbidden knowledge is more than the recipients on his pathway can handle at their current sequence and it f'ing shows. RIP, Ol Neil.

SERIOUSLY, I hadn't thought of the Hidden Sage like AI, but "A God of Knowledge" is so on point with that description! That's terrifying! Thank you for pointing that out and for the comment - let's pour one out for Old Neil!
