If SQ keeps going at this rate he may end up unofficially adopting more kids than even WWX and LWJ! :P A conversation between SQ and XL would be very interesting. Sometimes I wonder if SQ is sorta how XL would have turned out if he hadn’t been raised royal and didn’t have quite as big a gap between himself and the common folk. But for some reason I have a harder time picturing SQ ending up like XL if SQ had been raised with more privilege 🤔 Thanks for the video!

I think what makes the relationship between Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao actually work is that they are both extremely principled; once they decide on a course, they are not easily moved. And those world views are exact opposites, but sometimes they flow into one another - Yan Wushi has done good. Shen Qiao has done bad. They each try their utmost to embody their philosophies completely; they respect each other for it even when they can't understand. It's this core characteristic of being immovable that makes up the foundation of each of their characters - it pulls them together, it pushes them apart - but ultimately they wouldn't be who they are without it, and they each recognize that very clearly. I think that's the initial reason they even started liking each other in the first place! And they've both started changing each other, too - it's like they've slowly started to shelter little pieces of the other in their hearts. It's not completely due to the other, of course - change has to start from *you* most of all, consciously choosing to change. But their lives have undeniably been changed for both good and ill after having known each other. I think that's beautiful, and very human. Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao's relationship is the thesis of Thousand Autumns - is human nature immutable? Are good and evil merely words to hide behind? What does it mean, to be a human being? I suppose we'll see. Regarding Bai Rong - she misleads Shen Qiao to protect Hehuan Sect's interests, but in my opinion it's also to protect *Shen Qiao* - from both Yan Wushi and Sang Jingxing. I don't remember if it's been mentioned whether she knows what happened when YW handed him over or not, but either way it reads to me as her being genuinely concerned for him. In other news, I'm so so excited to be wading even deeper into the political waters!! Can't wait for next week! 💜 P.S. - Chen Gong indeed has a different title, he's Duke of Pengcheng County!

Right?! Shen Qiao is just out here adopting left and right! XD If only YWS knew! I really think that's a cool scenario -- would XL be more like SQ had he not been raised in nobility? Those are good questions; but their viewpoints are so interesting in how similar and different they are! Fun stuff to think about! And thank you for the comment!

Yes, they are so stubborn and set in their ways, but as opposites and they both are like yin and yang to each other. Yessss, I love that it’s what’s brought them together in the first place! And yes, as I’ve talked in the discussion for these chapters in Volume 3 - they are influencing each other! But yes, it is very human! And I’m very excited to see where we go to from here with it! Oh, I talked about that in the discussion that I think Bai Rong did it to protect SQ from Sang JingXing (and probably YWS as well). But yes, super excited for things to kick into gear even more next week! And thank you for the note on Chen Gong’s title! Thank you for the comment and for sharing that info; I appreciate it!
