Bluesky/Pixiv (Part 1)/Pixiv (Part 2)Oh Lillie, let's hope Nebby doesn't stir up more trouble for Nurse Joy. Her job is troubling enough as is with all the trainers who need their Pokemon healed!===============================================================An Explanation (For Those Who Need/Want It):What do you do when your Pokemon are low on HP? Well, you could give them some potions or healing items. Or if you want to save those, you'd probably head to a Pokemon center!...But what if you didn't go there to restore your Pokemon to full health while talking to Nurse Joy?===============================================================About the Piece and My Thoughts:The Pokemon center didn't spawn in with a front wall to it, which makes sense because in the Pokemon games, you often never actually see the front parts of buildings from the inside. So, I just applied one of the wall textures to a plane to patch up the gaping hole and made sure not to show an angle of where the door would be. It also had some shadow issues with the screen behind Nurse Joy, but it was an easy fix. In general, the Pokemon center had a ton of textures that I needed to touch up.Working with these character models was a bit different because instead of using only shape keys to alter their expressions, I also had to offset the positions of their facial textures to switch between different sets of mouths and eyes. Also, I actually had to create the expression used for Nurse Joy in panels 5 and 7 myself; that was not naturally provided with the files. Same goes for the dizzy anime expression with Moon of course, which involved the creation of the swirly eyes and the shadow effect within her facial textures. The bones for the Nurse Joy model weren't assigned very well for deformations too, but I managed to work something out nonetheless. As per the norm, I did lots of research on quotes for Lillie to get her dialogue down right. Since several Nurse Joys exist canonically, I just took it easy with her lines. Nebby wasn't originally going to be visibly included in this, but I eventually decided against that in order to give the comic some more cute, lighthearted fun. The fifth panel is purposefully all over the place as it should be with Nebby suddenly causing a brief moment of chaos.===============================================================Extra Notes:I did actually listen to Spear Pillar and a Pokemon center theme while making this at some point. Also, I legitimately trolled some people with some renders of the Pokemon center with the text boxes.  They were left scratching their heads and doing double takes because they thought the renders were just screenshots from an official game.===============================================================References/Fun Facts (For the Curious and the Easter Egg Hunters):There are a lot of references sprinkled about the comic this time around. Can you catch 'em all?- Obvious references to Pokemon center texts from the games; I used the lines from Sun and Moon and then included the infamous, "We hope to see you again," implying that Nurse Joy wants the trainer's Pokemon to get hurt again so they come back.- The Pokemon center used is the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire version, but the Nurse Joy depicted is the Sun/Moon version. Notably, the text boxes are from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire too, but the font used in them is not actually official. It was a similar font that I stretched and blurred to make it seem like it was official.- The sound effects that "play" in panel 2 are supposed to signify the sound effects that actually play when switching between and selecting options.- Lillie asking about why there isn't an option to care for trainers is playing at the fact that the Nurse Joys hardly do anything in Pokemon games other than heal your Pokemon. I mean, who would take care of injured trainers if Nurse Joy doesn't?- Nebby is often transported in Lillie's bag to be kept safe, but is known to try wriggling free from it and then potentially causing mischief. Nebby is eventually entrusted to the player in Sun/Moon because of how often they help Lillie find or protect it.- "Blacking out" or "whiting out," depending on the game, is what happens when all of your Pokemon are defeated in the games, which causes you to lose money and rushes your trainer to the Pokemon center to heal your party back to perfect health.- In the Pokemon anime, Pokemon that have fainted are depicted with swirly eyes. Guess why I picked that expression for Moon?- Nurse Joy commenting about taking a coffee break is a reference to a special event that takes place in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.- This is the first time I've had a character b̜͔͔̪͢r̷̗̬e̦̗̩a͍k̴̰͇̙ ̳̖͍͜t̵̗̜̠h͜e̤̻͓ ̳̲́f̰̬̦o̷͚̪ur͜t̡̪͙h̵̫͙ ̺̞̖wḁ̡̭l͖l̩̀ͅ in general and the first time I've worked with a non-humanoid character for comics (The first non-humanoid character I've worked with is Kirby!)===============================================================Credits:Characters: Lillie, Moon/Selene, and Nurse Joy (Pokemon Sun/Moon).Supurreme for the Pokemon center model.
