NEW SHOOTING WITH DOVILE YESTERDAY! (Patreon)
Content
Saturday was a great day with Dovile, and I tried to do something we didn't do on the last time, which was still in a similar room of the same hotel. But with Dovile is difficult to keep focused and concentrated, because you just get carried away.
These are the cameras I used with the lenses, and number of frames shot on each one:- Fujifilm GFX 50S II + "Martin" (the Zeiss T* 1,4/85mm Planar ZF named after the Patron that sponsored part of the purchase), with only 61 frames!- Leica M10 Monochrom + Summicron-M 90mm, (used for this photo, as you might have guessed by the absence of the color version) with just 79 frames.- Fujifilm X100VI, with a healthy 298 frames, but many will need to be discarded because of blurriness by slow shutter speeds. - Leica SL2-S + Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f1.4 + Leitz MACRO-ELMARIT-R 1:2.8/60mm, with a total of 522 frames.
But let's go back to today's photo, and let me point out this is the first time I use the Leica M10 Monochrom with the Summicron-M 90mm (instead of the 50mm), because now that I have the Visoflex helping me with focusing, I was determined to use the 90mm with the camera it was created for.
Back when I started my photography adventures (around 1991), I remember the crown for best portrait lens was contended by 2 brands, Leica with the Summicron-M 90mm, and Contax-Zeiss with the Planar T* 85mm f1.4.At the time I only managed to buy the Leica lens, but finally in 2026 I added also the Zeiss, and I used both on the same shooting for the very first time yesterday.
Leica's Summicron-M 90mm is behaving very well on the M10 Monochrom, I love the vintage look and not too clinical sharpness, which suits portraits and nudes perfectly, especially on models over 30 like Dovile.I will definitely have to use it more on the M in the future, because this lens was made for BW!
We're going to see Dovile again soon, because we are planning another shooting together in a whole different location, and off course tomorrow you will get to see her again for a full presentation everywhere (if I can get 3 photos ready on time...)
