This is the ad-free version of my latest YouTube video, where we tackle one of the biggest beginner pain points—flat, dull color—and fix it with a simple three-step glazing method. Using a chestnut as our main subject you’ll learn how to layer from light to dark, warm the browns, cool the shadows, and keep the glossy shine without overworking the paper.

What you’ll learn:

A clear, three-step glazing workflow (light → mid glazes → clean accents)

How to place warm vs. cool passages for believable depth

Shadow choices that stay rich (not muddy)

A real-time recording of the full composition—Chestnuts, Mushroom & Fallen Leaves—is available on Tier 1, along with a printable black-and-white outline (full scene + chestnut-only versions), and a complete materials list: https://www.patreon.com/posts/demo-chestnuts-143070804

Wow this is so beautiful autumn painting 😍 thank you Anna 🌹

Anna, you are simply a master at using the glazing technique! But… I also know that any discipline worth learning requires practices. Thank you so much for the opportunity to paint another Fall still life and work on my shadows and lights.

Could you provide a link to where we can buy one of the small round ceramic pan holder that you use? It looks like a great way to minimize wasting paint lost on a large open palette, and having access to just the immedicate colors you are working on at the time.
