💛🧡 Every watercolor artist needs a dependable primary yellow — one that mixes beautifully into fresh, lively greens, glowing neutrals, and clean secondary colors. And of course, yellows and oranges are essential if you love painting flowers, sunlit landscapes, autumn subjects, birds, and animal portraits full of warmth and life. To make things easier, I’ve put together a handy swatch guide to go along with my brand-new video on the 12 most essential watercolor yellows and oranges.

Thank you Anna. I just want to say also, having bought your book a while back, I find it the most comprehensive and useful usable book I have. I am a full time botanical artist and though I have to do some things in a very specific way, your book always inspires me, and is always so helpful in my every day work. Thank you.

So useful Anna, many thanks!! I discovered Transparent Yellow sometime ago and it's definitely a game changer! (Couldn't get Nickel Azo Yellow here in S. Africa). Will watch the Ad-free Video, much appreciated! Terry Lee Churchill 💛

It is so refreshing to see the promotion of yellows and oranges. I live in a very tropical environment where the flowers are warmer colors and it seems most botanical paintings focus on the pinks, purples, and blues. Thank you.🧡💛

Thank you Donna! I am committed to reviewing all color groups eventually!:) Oranges are surprisingly diverse (some darker ones I've omitted here will make an appearance in the upcoming Brown review).

Thank you so much, Perga, for your incredibly kind words. It means a lot to me, especially coming from a full-time botanical artist. Knowing that it continues to support your practice even alongside your own specific way of working is such a meaningful compliment. If you ever have a moment, I would also be so grateful if you’d consider leaving a short review on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/220246141-101-watercolor-secrets) or Amazon. Reviews make such a difference in helping other artists discover the book. Thank you again for taking the time to share this with me!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

I find these colour studies invaluable to me. Colours that never crossed my mind to mix with etc. I printed off the greens, blues, reds and now the yellows & oranges and I keep them on my table when I dig out my watercolours.

I cannot find the blank swatch pdf file mentioned in some of the videos or in the Patreon pages. Did I misunderstand its availability?
