As many of you know, when I am not busy with watercolors, my job involves creating money designs for the Royal Canadian Mint. These are massive creative projects that take up to a year to complete so it’s always exciting to finally see my designs released to the public: in silver or gold - or both as you will see on the latest coin 😊 I am sharing a few images here, along with my sketches in case you are curious to see my thought process from the very beginning.

The coin features tulips in different stages of bloom and a real (!!!) diamond in the center. It’s my 5th design in these series and I am absolutely thrilled to share it with you. Now back to watercolor sweat peas and … Lilly of the valley maybe for our next tutorial? 😉

🌷 The coin is available on the Royal Canadian Mint website: https://www.mint.ca/en/shop/coins/2023/pure-silver-coin-dancing-diamondtm-sparkle-heart-lc

This is amazing!! I had no idea you also did this. How inspiring! It’s absolutely gorgeous.

Jo R.

Omg it's so beautiful! That's really cool, Anna!

Suzanne Parent

Love the design Anna. What an exciting time for you. As a commemorative coin for Queen Elizabeth II.

Paulette Bouvier

Beautiful. I had noticed the design and thought it impressive.

Kimberly potts

Wow!! This makes me SMILE. Congrats. You are such a blessing to me. I've searched for years for the perfect (for me) watercolor style and unique color techniques to build upon. I am so proud for you! ** And I wonder how many of us visited the coin website in anticipation of snagging one of these beauties for $20?? LOL

Dian

That’s beautiful Anna, what an amazing skill to have. May is my birth month so would love to see a tutorial featuring lily of the valley. 😊

Katherine Antonini

Absolutely stunning! I’m just confused…how can it be a $20 coin when it costs $899 CAD? Are there other versions that are made without being pure silver? I wish I was in a position to buy one of these because it sure is gorgeous! 😁

Ann M

I love that you have tulips in three different stages of blossoming. Congratulations!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Suzanne! I also have a QEII coming out later this year in silver and some tradition British heraldry botanical elements. Will share soon! 💗

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much Kimberly! Yeah… these diamond coins are limited edition and are wildly expensive - I don’t buy them either 😩 but it’s always an honour to be invited to design one 😊

Janet

Congratulations! Must be strange in conversation when people ask you what you do and you reply: I design money.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Katherine! I should have mentioned most of the money designs I make are for limited edition collectable coins - I can’t afford them myself 🙃 occasionally for more wide circulation coins under $50 that are just silver I buy them as gifts and also for my parents.

Charlie

Brava, Anna .... BRAVA!!!!

Katherine Antonini

Oh my gosh, I would have thought that being the artist who created the design, they would give you a coin. That’s the least they could do for you putting so much time into making them.

Betsy S Ogles

This is a beautiful coin!! You are so talented! I would love Lilly of the Valley. It was my grandmother's favorite flower, and so remind me of her.

Monalisa Mackey

Absolutely stunning design, Anna! 🙌🏻💕

Monalisa Mackey

Lilies of the Valley will be gorgeous for the next tutorial! Maybe butterflies would be a pretty accent on or around them?😊. I just had a thought…at some point it would be lovely to do a tutorial with a chameleon in it!😃😬

Anamika Banerjee

These are absolutely gorgeous… ur creativity is of next level. And pls do the water lily tutorial. One of my colleague loves water lily and I want to gift her a painting on it ❤️

Vonda Sisson

You are amazing - congratulations - your design is gorgeous

Marsha Close

You are so talented in so many ways. Stunning design! Love all your work!

Susan Riggs

Elegant with a bit of bling. Beautiful!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Monalisa! I am already looking up references and you read mind mind re: butterflies as I was looking for a nice compliment to the delicate flowers and any bird seemed too big … but butterflies would definitely work 👌👌👌

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Betsy! I think this is it - we’ll paint Lilly of the Valley 3rd week of May 😊💗

Monalisa Mackey

I agree. I think they would pair beautifully together. I look forward to that tutorial! 😊🙌🏻

Hi Tracey! First I wanted to mention that you can always find the full list of tutorials from the top post - it's called Index and it is pinned on top of the Home page: https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-index-53705306 note that I am also including alternative Youtube links - those typically load much faster via YouTube platform. Please tell me more about your access issues - are you seeing the tutors but not able to play the videos? Are you logged in with the same account username and password that you used to sign up? Please confirm 😊 Thank you!

What an amazing design. Just stunning. You are beyond talented. Lily of the Valley sounds great for the next tutorial. It is my birth flower too!

Hotflash Vickie

How amazing to have something you created live on for - well, eternity!! I mean, it's one thing to make a painting you hand down to your child, who may or may not keep it to give to their child, who may or may not keep it to give to his or her descendants, who never met you and couldn't care less, to be honest! But wow, to design something worth MONEY -- excuse me -- to BE the money, but it's worth MONEY in and of itself? And a LOT of money at that?! Well, doesn't get much better than that, girlfriend!! I'd be dancing a pretty happy dance right now, let me tell ya! Congratulations, and you certainly deserve all the happy dances you care to do, all the bottles of champagne you care to drink, and all the expensive watercolors you care to buy!!! You deserve it and more!

Donna Ammons

OMG, Anna, this is gorgeous!!! You are so talented! And what an interesting process! Congratulations!
