Hi all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend - I am popping in to show you what’s on my table and what’s coming your way this week and next 😊

First, for all PATREON Tiers - and especially for everyone born in May - I have a beautiful delicate Lilly of the Valley bouquet! The official birth flower of the month as we continue the series 💕 lots of opportunity to focus on some very important study areas:

Painting white subsjects: negative painting and shadow treatment

Painting greenery / color temperature

And for my Skillshare students / Purple tier PATREON subscribers I have an absolutely EPIC 3-hour class on watercolor BACKGROUND techniques!!! In this class I will take you step by step through 3 of my favourite background techniques:

Beginner friendly wet-into-wet that works on practically every subject

Classic flat wash for beautiful solid if coverage (I know it’s tricky! I’ve loaded up this section with a ton of tips and problem solving scenarios)

My all time favourite Negative Painting - it’s a game changer for backgrounds of any kind and we will take a deep dive (4 layers deep😊)

Lots of good learnings and practice coming your way in the next 2 weeks 💕 I hope you are as excited as I am! Not going to lie, i am looking forward to painting something new after 2 weeks straight of some intense editing… so mid June I will reveal another large intricate composition - roses and swallows (roses being the flower of June and swallows because I found a gorgeous reference)

See you all very soon! Xoxo

Hi Anna! That looks amazing! Looking forward for the next project! 😍

Tatiana Busico

May ends so fast, I haven't finished the previous with dragonfly yet🤣🥰🤣

Anna Bucciarelli

Completely agree! May always flies by - but don’t worry Lilly of the valley is by far one of the more straightforward quick and enjoyable paintings I’ve done - none of the crazy layering from the previous 3 compositions we did. I think you might find it to be a nice chance of pace before we get back to detailed birds and flowers 💙😊

Ann M

Gorgeous, can't wait for this!

Tatiana Busico

Dear Anna, I'm fully in the process of detailed layering😂 I finished the sunbird and lemons, and made 2 parts of 3 for turtle doves and the partridge in 🍐 🍐 🍐 😂

Ooh, I am so looking forward to that lily of the valley! One of my favorite flowers

Hi Anna, The lilies of the valley will be such a lovely tutorial! 💕. Are you adding any butterflies in the painting like you were thinking of doing? I am super excited for June’s tutorial with the roses and swallow as my birthday is in the middle of June 😊. I hope you will be painting big full fluffy roses like you did in the YouTube painting recently. They were so pretty!😃

Hi Anna I'm really looking forward to the tutorials .. being a beginner your tutorials really help . Looking forward to mastering wet on wet technique which still bewilders me sometimes. Thank you 😊

Elaine Bruckman

What makes your art stand out from other artists is the multi layered backgrounds that add so much dimension to the painting. And as a teacher you always include special techniques as part of our learning experience. Thanks!

Can’t wait for the Skillshare class!! Anna, you mention using QoR synthetic Ox Gall in your rose Skillshare class, but don’t say HOW you use it? Do you put a few drops in your rinse water? A few drops in each pan of pigment you’re using? Please elaborate, I just ordered some from Amazon.

Hi Anna How u doing? U are a total gem in my life. I am 68 years old and love your work. I got a cocketoo picture with a back view. The pic of the cocketoo and the colours are in pink, blue and white. It would be amazing if u could incorporate it with a flower tutorial. I am also so happy about the lily in ur next tutorial. Let me know if I can send u the pic. Thanks for all ur inspiration. You are an excellent teacher. Warm regards from South Africa, Gloria C

It’s like we share a brain lol. I’ve been working on mastering Lily of the valley this past month! Exciting. 🩷💜🩷

:))))))))) Amazing! I just published the SKillshare class, and editing the lilly of the valley videos this weekend. Hope you enjoy it! Curious if you've used masking fluid on your version - its such a tricky small flower and I almost went with masking but changed my mind last minute to negative painting technique instead. So many ways of painting these :)

Hi Diann, There is a video Short on Anna’s You Tube channel called “This watercolor medium is AMAZING!” It briefly speaks of the Qor Synthetix Ox Gall medium. It seems you put a few drops in water and it will extend the drying time and improve pigment flow.

Diann Smith

Thank you SO much Monalisa!! I’ll go watch it!♥️

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much for your kind words Gloria! I will DM you with my email address for the cocketoo picture - pink and blue color combo sounds really beautiful:)
