The exploding whale was in Florence town I went to high school..... seen the footage and was told the tale by teachers who were there when it happened when they were teenagers..... the issue basicly was they didn't use enough dynamite.... the amount they used barely blew up 1/3 of it and mostly rained blood on bystanders... no one was hurt but a car got a nasty dent.... according to my science teacher he ran the math and if they wanted atomize it so nothing was left they needed like 10x more explosives and to set them all around it... not just in 1 spot.... the orgional plan was to try to "launch" the whale back into the ocean but obviously they didn't understand the physics of how that was impossible... to atomize it or use explosives to dig a hole would've been doable but they went about it in the most stupid way.... it was as if luffy and zoro were put in charge and not franky and usopp...

If you remember that vice admiral from ohara who blew up the evacuation ship his name was Sakazuki that was Akainu real name before he became an admiral so that gives you an Idea of his brutality of course he would not hesitate to kill anyone who he thinks is a disgrace to the navy

on thing about garp we have yet to see what made him become a marine but one thing we have seen is that garp truly believes that luffy and ace should've becomes marines for THEIR OWN safety and that does pull at my strings quite a bit. We see more on garp and his view of the marines in the future and it is more complex than rn is letting on but still garp does care about ppl and his grandsons are definitely not an exception to that

Other than that, that Doflamingo quote has been used in edits to hell and back. Good or evil, it is probably one of the most real moments in the entire story. And the edits of it go way too hard. Also, complete sidenote but I absolutely ADORE how WE (as viewers) so CASUALLY ask "What the fuck is falling out of the sky?" with no surprise WHATSOEVER that something IS falling out of the sky, but more so just curiosity as to WHAT the fuck it is XD Best 'dramatic entrance' in fiction. God, I fucking love this world XD

"The winners decide what justice is" always feels to me like "the winner writes the history books" -- essentially saying that history will always favor the winner because it will be biased due to whoever lives to write it. So I hear Doffy's quote as saying it doesn't matter who wins, bc whoever wins will say that their "justice" prevailed

What many fans forget is that Garp is a hero not just to young marines, but to the global public aswell. There is a reason why Garp has turned down the title of admiral multiple times. Garp understands the corruption of world government and the restrictions that the title of admiral imposes. Although being a hero of the navy comes with its liberties, it’s not without its limitations. Think of how young marines would react if a symbol such as Garp were to commit treason in order to save ace. How many dreams would that shatter, how many citizens would feel betrayed. Garp is a pillar of society that holds up what is right. And until the people’s perspective changes. He must stand firm
