Chapter 28: Combat Power 4700! (Patreon)

Oryon had a wonderful dream.
In the dream, inside a grand mansion, he held a voluptuous, matronly Divine Mother in his arms.
Vados and Kusu flanked her on either side, massaging her shoulders.
Marcarita knelt at his feet, massaging them for him.
Zeno was being raised like his own child, the Grand Priest served as his butler, and all twelve Gods of Destruction were his pets.
Suddenly, the smell of food flooded into his nose.
Oryon's nose twitched, and his stomach growled.
"Is the food ready? It smells amazing..."
The words had barely left his mouth when Oryon woke up.
The first thing he saw was Lunch, kneeling right in front of him, her delicate face barely three inches from his own, her breath hot against his skin.
Seeing him open his eyes, Lunch smiled.
"You're awake. Food's ready. So — eat first, or eat me first?"
Oryon pecked her gently on the cheek. "Let me hit the bathroom first, then I'll eat..."
Lunch got up, and Oryon scrambled to his feet, heading straight for the bathroom.
The instant he pulled it out to relieve the pressure, Bulma's scream split the sky.
The whole house shook.
"Aaah~"
Startled, Lunch rushed toward the bathroom.
Bulma stood up with a red face, and a bright handprint was stamped across Oryon's cheek.
Lunch and Bulma walked out of the bathroom, with Lunch laughing despite herself, caught somewhere between amusement and exasperation.
Bulma scowled. "What are you laughing at? He almost peed on my face just now..."
Lunch covered her mouth, giggling.
"What's the big deal? If he really had, you could always pee back on him later. You've got plenty to spare."
Bulma's dark scowl flushed instantly red.
"Don't — don't say things like that, it's so embarrassing..."
Lunch laughed. "All right, time to eat. Don't you need a few days to recover? Head home once you're done eating."
With that, she glanced at the pile of snacks she'd bought and murmured, "Tonight is going to be just the two of us, all night long..."
A moment later, Oryon finished up and walked out of the bathroom.
"Bulma, get the Scouter back out. I want to check my Power Level again."
Bulma pouted. "Let's test it after we eat. That thing won't have changed much no matter how many times you check it."
But Lunch looked over at Bulma and asked, "Is the Scouter in your bag?"
"Yeah, it's in there!"
Lunch turned to Oryon. "I'll go grab it for you."
Oryon nodded, smiling. "Lunch is always the one who spoils me most."
Soon, Lunch had the Scouter out and fitted over her face.
"I just press this button, right?"
Bulma nodded. "Yeah, it's practically foolproof."
Oryon said, "Wait a second, let me step outside so I can really let my ki loose."
Bulma shook her head helplessly.
"It's only been a few hours since the last reading. However much you 'let your ki loose,' it's not going to change much."
Right then, Oryon ran outside. He let out a roar, every pore on his body opening wide as his ki exploded outward.
A fierce wind kicked up, blowing Lunch's and Bulma's hair back and snapping their clothes with a loud flapping sound.
In just a few seconds, Oryon's ki surged to its absolute peak.
The Scouter on Lunch's face suddenly started beeping.
The number on the display shot up rapidly.
Soon it settled on a fixed number.
Oryon looked at Lunch, curious.
"Lunch, come on, say something — what's my Power Level?"
Lunch blinked. "4,712."
Oryon's face lit up.
"Over four thousand already?"
"Yep!"
Hearing the number, Bulma's pupils shook.
"Wh-what?!"
Lunch repeated. "4,712. Why?"
Bulma sucked in a sharp breath.
She knew all too well how authoritative that number was.
Even Master Roshi, the legendary god of martial arts, only had 139.
Piccolo topped out at just over 400, and years ago his father — with even less Power than that — had already been on the verge of conquering the world.
And Oryon had reached a terrifying four thousand and more. It was almost too much to believe.
"Wait, that's not right — wasn't it only just over 2,800 this morning?" Bulma asked.
Oryon laughed. "This morning I was indoors — I didn't dare cut loose, afraid I'd blow the house apart."
Realization dawned on Bulma.
"So that's it!"
Lunch took off the Scouter. "I don't really understand Power Levels, but that sounds impressive."
Bulma said, "Of course it's impressive. You know, Raditz's Power Level was only 1,500, and Goku's and Piccolo's are only just over 400.
Oryon's Power Level is a full four thousand-plus — he's far stronger than any of them."
Lunch blinked in surprise. "So does that mean catching up to the Power Level of that teammate Raditz mentioned is within reach?"
The same thought struck Bulma at once.
"Right! If it were up to Goku to go from 400 all the way to fifteen thousand, I wouldn't have any confidence at all.
But for Oryon to triple his 4,700 and reach fifteen thousand? That's completely possible..."
With that, Bulma turned to Oryon, her eyes lit with excitement.
"Oryon, do you need any special support for your training?
Supplements, training facilities, whatever it is — I can get it for you..."
Oryon's eyes lit up.
"I was hoping you'd say that. Could you build me a Gravity Chamber?"
Bulma blinked.
"A Gravity Chamber? What's that?"
Oryon explained, "A Gravity Chamber is a big training room, built out of metal.
It has a gravity control device inside, so anyone in there can feel ten times, even a hundred times Earth's gravity,
and you train while bearing several times your own body weight — once you adapt to it, your Power Level shoots up fast."
Bulma nodded. "So that's how it works. I've never built one before, though, so I'm not sure if I can pull it off."
Oryon stared at her, caught off guard for a moment.
"Isn't this the kind of thing you could whip up without even trying?"
Bulma's face flushed, and she said with a hint of shyness, "I—I'm not that amazing...
But since you put it that way, I'll look into it properly once I get back. I've just never thought about gravity technology before.
Don't worry — six months at most, and I'll have it built for you..."
Oryon smiled. "No rush at all. You can take Raditz's Attack Ball and study the tech on it."
Bulma nodded. "Yeah, it's already at the company. My dad's been taking it apart in his spare time."
"Good, good..."
It was probably the discovery of that Attack Ball that gave Dr. Briefs a real breakthrough, and it started nudging Earth's technology in a more cosmic direction.
As for the Gravity Chamber, Oryon had no intention of using it often — way too exhausting.
Wasn't it better to spend that time chasing girls instead?
Having a System and not using it would just be plain foolish.
Still, he could try the Gravity Chamber for a few days.
If using it even briefly meant his future training time could be counted as Gravity Chamber training time, that would be a huge win.
By the time he faced Frieza, he'd probably have already reached the level of Super Saiyan, and wouldn't have to gamble his life on a single sliver of hope.
Then he could just bully Frieza mercilessly.
Lunch looped her arm through Oryon's. "All right, enough about Gravity Chambers, you two.
The food's getting cold. Come eat already..."
"You got it!"
