loving apple tv shows questioning consent and ethics as we play with consciousness and what it means to have autonomy under these new orders and sci-fi conceits. carol was definitely lonely but the fact that she said she would do it all again to save the world had the hive with their backs against the walls. they had to pull out their last trick: physically using carol’s attraction to zosia and it worked

i love that we’re constantly shown how good the hive is at everything even in subtle ways, where zosia is significantly better at shuffling cards than carol is. small detail to add, but it matters to me.

They eat people.... indeed 😂😂 Okay all jokes aside i THINK the hive is really terrified about Carol meeting Manousos and are doing everything they can to make Carol grow to care for them so that they don't team up and try to destroy the hive. Vambora to the finalle!!! I am excited!

They are both manipulating each other. The hive through Zosia is being "perfect" for Carol as it makes her more sympathetic to its situation AND it wastes Carol's time. Time that is valuable because it's time the hive is spending learning more about the virus and how to propagate it (to Earth's remaining unaffected as well as somewhere out there in the universe). Meanwhile - Carol's trip to Vegas was actually pivotal to her character growth as she is now asking the Hive direct questions. She doesn't know how to use the knowledge she is gaining... yet... but she is learning more about the Hive through candid conversation. The ethics of consent are omnipresent with me watching this series - but I'm going to allow myself to be a "shallow consumer" for this episode. With that in mind - I have to admire Carol's bravado in bedding Zosia knowing she's got 7 billion people along for the ride. lol.

Love your giddiness at hopefully seeing Zosia again and your utter concern for Manousos (Manny from now on, easier to spell). A dog named "Bear" - he's a good boy.. Also: why not bring actual beds into the building? (Stupid fungi/glue/alien thingy) Bringing Carol to the hive hang-out also seems like a way to make her feel like "Hey, this is okay" Ya, it's like Carol, Manny and the others are providing entertainment, like a tv show. Offering something new to discover. So "CarZo" is a thing now. LoLz Also: nothing like post coitus clarity or break-ups to get the creative juices flowing (phrasing). Human body / alien mind. Only now noticed how fast the hive switched from manipulation via nostalgia to using Carol’s loneliness as the focus. I’m still 100% convinced it’s all manipulation because how could a hive mind, with no personal wants, have a true personal relationship or even feelings. Also, the way you described their “reproduction” made me think of a the process as a weapon. Wipe out the indigenous intelligence and then come along centuries, maybe millennia later, and have a free planet. Love that there are still angles to consider in this show. Thanks as always.
