Oh, interesting. What Granny did at the end... she gave him control over the lucrim that was not going toward his cores that he had accumulated overtime, right? I also like the theme of getting stronger by battling outwith someone stronger, which is a bit cliche but has been introduced since the beginning with Rick’s work... nice chapter, keep up the good work!

She activated the lucrim that forms the gap between his invested amount and his total, if that's what you mean. Bad idea to use in the long term, but it puts Rick in top condition for the tournament.

I like the mystery (and handicap) of the leech that puts a hard cap on his potential. It’s kind of like those weight belts in anime. It’s also frustrating as a reader feeling like all his future work is sealed off until he deals with it. I hope he can burn that leech! And maybe recover something from it...

The new leech is temporary, not a new debt. It's not great for his development, but it will go away after the tournament.

Even better, it's a HARDCORE tournament arc. Remember what Granny said: Rick gets no heals between fights, since he used up all her good will getting healed after face-tanking what (to him) basically felt like ZA WARUDO. ;D

Ah, I should clarify: Granny will heal Rick between fights (to do otherwise would hurt her chances) she just won't heal any long term injuries after his last match.
