Gotta start with my usual opener: Hello Patrons and thank you for your Patronage here on Patreon!!

(Much easier to type out than it is to say!)

I know my Patreon has been super basic and only has full reactions at this point, but I would like to have more for you all! That being said, what would you like to see and/or have as a Patron?

Polls have been requested so I think that will be step one, but I’d love insight into what you’d like to see from those!

I’d love your input! Let me know if you’ve seen things other creators do that you’d like or if you have any other ideas for me to try and implement!

Thank you!!! 🫶🏼

Will you do any TV shows? Even just shorter ones that don’t have 200 seasons 🤣 if not I’m happy with just movies as TV shows take a lot of time and editing, but polls would definitely be great! It would also be interesting to know what your fave movie genres are (if any) because I have no idea what to recommend or if you’re open to anything

Alex Gorell

How about a monthly raffle where one patron at random gets to pick a movie for you to watch (obviously with your approval as I know there are some movies people refuse to watch for their own reasons). You end up getting some unique picks that very few people have seen/react too.

samcro92

If you're gonna react to a tv show please do band of brothers first 🙏 it's about a group of parachute soldiers in ww2 and it was made by Steve spielberg and tom hanks shortly after they did saving private ryan. It's only 10 episodes and it's easily one of the best TV shows ever made.

Baldemort

II would say do some polls, but do not rely too heavily on them. Your freedom of choice based on what you see recommended is what is important. If you see a movie requested a few times, write that movie down to be watched. Polls will always lead to community drama and divide as people seeing only the trend movies win and most of the time a lot of amazing movies will never be seen because of such. So its important to find a balance between doing polls and making your own choice on movies to watched based on community recommendations. That being said, if you do TV shows. Id like to request: -The Last of Us - Band of Brothers -The Pacific The pacific and Band of Brothers are both one season about 10 episodes long, both are directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, that follows the true story dramatization of Soldiers from the European theater of war and Pacific theater of war in WW2, the pacific is the "sequel" to BoB so watch that first if you do. Those would be AMAZING shows to dip your toe in, plus they always get good viewrship and your community seems to love when you watch movies based on real events or emotional journeys . As far as movies on polls if you do them, try your best to have themed polls, like "movie genre" or maybe you have an actor or actress you want to see so you can have a poll of about 5 to 7 movies containing those talent in them.

I love that you’re asking for our input. While the choice of movies that you watch should always be your own and at your discretion, it’s a lot of fun if your patrons can take part in shaping your content. That being said, I’ve seen other reactors do several different things to get their patrons involved. The most common are polls. And those polls can be developed in different ways…movie genres, movies centered around a specific actor, actress, or director, movies with the same central theme, movies centered around a specific holiday, etc… I’ve also seen reactors hold a contest of some sort, and the winner can choose up to 5-6 movies to submit to you for you to watch. You can either choose one of those movies on your own to watch, or you can put those movies in a poll for the community to vote on. Once a month, you can also put the names of your patrons on small pieces of paper, throw them all in a bag, hat, box…and pull out a name. That person can then submit 5-6 movies for you watch, and again you can either choose one of those yourself, or put them into a poll. While there are so many tv shows that are awesome and would make for great reactions, you run the risk of taking up a lot of time on your channel to get through the episodes, especially if its a long series. If you’re going to react to a tv show, mini series in my opinion would be the best option. However, I would personally prefer just movie reactions. Thanks again for asking for our input. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of your community for the short amount of time that I’ve been here. And I look forward to being here for the long haul to see your channel flourish.

Dan M

Nice to see another familiar face, Alex. Happy that you’re here. 👍

Dan M

That’s a good idea. Or even if there are genres or types of movies you’re really not into, so we can avoid requesting those movies. Maybe a list of some of the more popular movies that you’ve seen outside the channel so we don’t request those.

I would LOVE to do tv shows, but I've been hesitant because of how long they can take to get through. But, I've been thinking that I'd start them as Patron exclusives until I can get more time to edit it them for the channel! There are a few shows I really want to watch though, so I would love to start that soon (Band of Brothers, The Last of Us, Star Wars Animated Series).

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

Oops, forgot to talk about genres! I'm pretty open to everything! My go to would be rom-coms and action movies (growing up I was obsessed with Jackie Chan and James Bond movies), but part of the reason I started this channel was to broaden my horizons since I only watched the same things on repeat!

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

Love the idea for the polls, thank you!!! And Band of Brothers will be one of the first shows I react to, everyone has been singing its praises!!

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

I love the idea of the contest!! I really want to do shows but I've been hesitant because of how long they'll take me to get through (especially only posting twice a week), but I was thinking of starting shows as Patron exclusives until I have the ability to get them all edited for the channel! Thank you for the great ideas!

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

I would LOVE to react to Band of Brothers! Definitely a highly requested series and one that I am very interested in watching!

MoonageDaydream

Yeah that’s totally fair, another Patreon I’m subscribed to does shows as exclusives then gradually edits them for YouTube and it seems to work for them so that could be a good shout. I’m also terrible for rewatching the same things, I started a letterboxd earlier this year in an attempt to go out of my comfort zone and I’ve watched some stuff I’d never usually go for. I’m a bit of a masochist so I love movies that make me cry so I might hold off on recommending stuff to you especially after your reaction to The Green Mile (which is one of my fave movies of all time 😂)

Baldemort

With action, i think you need to dip your toe into some Tom Cruise. He does all his own stunts. I think a lot of reaction channels love watching Top Gun and its Sequal "Top Gun Maverick" 90% of both movies is real flying real navy pilots performing the stunts. The sequal has no CGI other than explosions. Tom Cruise actually flies his own planes in real life.

Baldemort

How far into it did you get?

Dan M

It can definitely be tricky doing tv shows. You run the risk of isolating a large number of people for several weeks if it’s a long series and those people aren’t into that show. Band of Brothers is a good option because it’s only 10 episodes, and you can break it up over time. For example, you can watch 2 episodes in one week, the next week switch over to movie reactions, then go back to the next 2 episodes the following week, etc… Or you can watch one episode a week and have a movie reaction as the second upload. That way if a patron isn’t interested in watching Band of Brothers (or whatever show you’re reacting to), they’re not waiting 5 weeks for you to finish the show before you get back to movie reactions.

Dan M

I cried more watching The Green Mile with LiteWeight than I ever did watching it on my own 😬

MoonageDaydream

Hahaha! I honestly felt kinda bad, our girl was STRUGGLING 😅

Dan M

If a movie really makes an impact on me, I can watch it over and over and never tire of it. I just have to space out my viewings of it. But I’m also open to almost any movie in any genre, and love to broaden my horizons (I’m the same way with music). You never know when you’re going to find a gem in unexpected places.

Baldemort

Yo, have seen green mile I think 20 times now and I never cry any less than I did the first time. I cant imagine what the theater experience was like. My dad told me, when he went to watch it in theaters, EVERYBODY just sat there for 5 to 10min sobbing and pondering life xD

Damion Gunter

Hm. Polls and full length reactions are the typical thing. Early access to videos, if that’s not already something you’re doing. I always appreciate your commentary at the end. Maybe something to expand on that, a little. Maybe even written or recorded retrospectives on your favorites among recommendations you’ve been given and why - something along those lines. Same for gaming.

Metron29

Reactions to analog horror videos and related YouTube series!

FantasyHawkeye

This is really tough. I would love to see TV shows. Even though they can be very long maybe a show that has 30 minute episodes including ads would work as like a quick patreon or members exclusive only upload.

Tim

Not sure how you feel about animated shows, but I'd love to see your reaction to Arcane.

Dan M

Oof! Yeah, that would have been rough seeing it the theatre sitting with a room full crying people. Imagine the ushers having to clean up all of those soggy tissues.

Spinnaker

i see you're inundated with suggestions, but I would like to recommend some that I think are brilliant. You can check their reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. I'll give the audience score for three of the best. 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) - A collaboration between George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg? Take my money! This is the franchise that Harrison Ford is proudest of and for good reason. It has drama and humor and suspense and action. And who doesn't want to see Harrison Ford punch a Nazi? 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. 2. The Blues Brothers (1980) - this is a musical comedy is full of surprises and has lots of actions. And with great supporting roles and cameos by Stephen Spielberg, Frank Oz, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. It has an audience score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and who doesn't want to see Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi run over some Nazis? 3. Another brilliant classic from the 80's and another 92% score is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This has humor and suspense and action and music. It's a true classic.

It’s cool to hear that you’re interested in broadening your horizons with film. That’s what interests me most about a Reactor’s channel. Having grown up on 1980s thru 2000s movies, I went through a long period in my 20s when I watched mainly Classic films, mostly 1930s to 1970s. TCM (Turner Classic Films) was about the only channel I watched, and I filled up my DVR with nothing but older films that I had never seen. I had to buy external hard drives to transfer them over once my DVR got full. I made it to 7 EHDs, from this time, which I still have. For years, I tried to only watch “new to me” films and rarely repeated a film. Now in my 30s, after having seen more films than many have seen in a lifetime… I’m still watching movies. (Shocker :-) It’s my Favorite Pastime. One of these days I might actually put it to use, and write my own screenplay… hopefully ;-) These days, I’ve tried to be more systematic, yet still random while watching films. I make lists of films almost as much as I watch them now. These lists are always in order of release, and are mainly categorized by Years and Decades. My favorite Tool for finding films to watch or making lists, is IMDB.com. You can search for films released in any specific time period… any specific start date to any specific end date, and sorted any way you want. (by Popularity is the easiest. Top 100 of any year, is probably where most people could find a film they haven’t seen. I’m usually looking in the Top 250). https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=1946-01-01,1946-12-31 https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=1973-01-01,1973-04-30 https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=1960-01-01,1965-12-31 I’ll usually pick a random film (number generator) from a random year, and sometimes even see what else films were released the same month. I always keep a link like the ones above in my browser, and just change the dates. It really makes for some interesting film experiences and it can introduce you to some films you never knew about. I don’t know if you’re interested in Classic Films or not, but whatever you’re interested in, I’m sure there’s films from every era that you would enjoy. You mentioned Rom-Coms in a reply… well the 1930s was where the Romantic Comedy was born and when some of the greatest ever were created. Judging by the films you’ve already reacted to, it seems the Top 20 films from each year, would be your starting point. I posted a quick list of these kinds of films in my reply to your reply in the Jurassic Park comments. Probably most people would be looking for these films’ reactions and are typically the starting point for many Reactors (at least the ones I’ve seen). I’m with the others that say you should watch what you want to watch. If you’re looking for film suggestions, just give us an idea of the type or genre of film and we can start suggesting then. Best I can do now is, “if you like that movie, then check out this movie.” I definitely like the idea of a contest that would allow a Patron to submit a short list of films for your choosing. Another reactor I’ve been a member of does a Trivia game 2 or 3 times a year. I don’t know how many patrons you have at this point. Don’t know if drawing out of a hat would work or not. Here’s an opportunity to get creative ;-) If you start doing Polls, my only suggestion would be, please be mindful that putting older or Classic films against newer films, usually doesn’t work well for the Classic film fans. So if you find yourself interested in a Classic film, please put it in a Poll among other films from around the same era. The Older films may not be able to compete on the same level as the more recent ones, but the Classics can definitely still teach the young Whippersnappers a thing or two about Storytelling. To End, I’ll just say, if you ever get a hankering for some Deep Cuts, just lemme know, and I’ll lead you in the right direction. In the meantime, I’ll just keep dropping some nuggets in the comments and let One movie lead to the next. PS: +1 for Band of Brothers.

Polls are a good place to start, but honestly, I would just focus on the reactions. Your Patreon is still in its relative infancy, so I would just work on building up your catalog to draw more people in. I can only speak for myself, but I'm here for the reactions. Your reactions are a delight, and I just want more of those. I know you have a life and a family and all the things that come with that, so the time to work on this is obviously limited, so I would just focus on the meat and potatoes for now building up your brand with the reactions. If anything, I might suggest diversifying to what movies you react. Every reactor has the Shawshanks and the Back to the Futures, and don't get me wrong, I love those movies, and they're definitely "must watch" movies, but what catches my eye typically when I'm seeking out a new reactor is a movie that I don't see a lot of other reactors watching. I might go like a two for them, one for me route, and just seek out movies that sound interesting to you that may not necessarily be the same movies that everyone else is reacting to. For example, watch two famous Spielberg movies, right? Then the third movie is some independent A24 movie or some forgotten gem from the 80s. Just a suggestion. Either way, really enjoying what you're doing. Keep up the good work!

Larry Darrell

Which part of what I said got you emotional, because things seem pretty calm from where I’m at? I’m always curious about those little nothing things that Trigger people.

Harry

Polls appear almost a must for a serious Patreon content creator these days. But, I've seen other content creators producing a website where patreons can recommend which movies or TV series they want the content creators to react to and the website automatically ranking them in terms of popularity. So that's an idea. Another idea is to come up with your own distinctive phrase and include it in every reaction video like "stay golden!" if you were a content creator called "Natalie Gold". To distinguish your good self from other content creators, reacting to some off-cut or forgotten movies and TV shows seems like a way to go. And, here, I have some recommendations ;-) Movies: Let the Right One In (2008) [in Swedish, English subtitle] Little White Lies (2010) [in French, English subtitle] The Sisterhood of Night (2014) The Concert (2010) [with Melanie Laurent] Lilya-4-Ever (2002) We Are What We Are (2013) Hanna (2011) A Prophet (2009) Wadjda (2013) [in Arabic, English subtitle] Rust and Bone (2012) [in French, English subtitle] The Red Turtle (2016) [no dialogue, pure magic!!!] A Marine Story (2010) Operation Mincemeat (2021) Bedazzled (2000) Step Up (2006) Animal Kingdom (2010) Molly's Game (2017) Bridge of Spies (2015) War Dogs (2016) Final Girl (2015) Archangel (2005) 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) The War Zone (1999) The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2008) A Perfect Gateway (2009) The Age of Adaline (2015) A Simple Favor (2018) TV Series: Wallander (2005-2013) [with Krister Henriksson; in Swedish, English subtitle] The Killing (2007-2012) [in Danish, English subtitle] Chuck (2007-2012) [comedy - really fun! :)] Weeds (2005-2012) [another comedy - one of my favorites! :-D) Timeless (2016-2018) Hooten & The Lady (2016-2017) The Americans (2013-2018) Generation War (2013) [in German, English subtitle] The Good Wife (2009-2016) The Night Manager (2016-) Grimm (2011-2017) The Bureau (2015-2020) [in French, English subtitle - some say it's like a French version of James Bond - with much less bangs :D] Animal Kingdom (2015-2022) Revenge (2011-2015) Money Heist (2019-2021)

tgriexterminator

Here's a tip I learned as a kid at Movie Rental places.. If it was straight to VHS/DvD, it was bad. If it made it made it to cinema It was Worth a watch and usually great. There's a few exceptions, but not many. Just because it wasn't the biggest blockbuster of the year doesn't mean it wasn't great (so long as it made it to theaters.)

Harry

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You make a list and I'll name many bs in your list - but where does that gets us? Grow up. :D

Harry

Hahaha, you've just demonstrated yourself as totally immature and unworthy of any further correspondences from me or from many others. Congrats! :DDDD

Paul G

I agree with Randy's message and to add to it, a lot of reactors avoid films/shows that get mixed reviews because they are afraid it might impact views on their YouTube channel. I think they miss the point that people watch reactions because the want to see the honest REACTION (crazy, right) of the channel creator and the more "controversial" the title the more they will watch. I guess my overall point is, at the end of the day if you enjoy a genre/franchise/actor/director, etc. you should watch the film even if it got mixed reviews; your viewers are here because they enjoy your reactions, what you're watching is the icing on top.

Paul G

-I'm kind of completionist so I would vote for watching franchises in their entirety. There are of course exceptions - Jaws, you've seen what you need to see in that franchise :) -Shooting for a consistent release schedule is nice. More isn't always best. A few honest, heartfelt reactions per month on regular schedule is great! Just like any job, finding a good work/life balance is important! -Other than that just keep it real and have fun!
