A sad and absolutely beautiful episode.

This episode gets me every time. So glad you enjoyed the show. I can’t wait to see what’s next

Mister Lou

The dad turning all back after touching the Red Door, looked like a perfect visualization of what Theo felt after she touched Nell's body. Great episode and series as a whole. Even better reaction. Keep up the good work.

First, fantastic reaction. I don't know what it says about me, but I've rewatched this several times knowing that the last 15 minutes will leave me a sobbing mess. 😅 In all those rewatches, I've never actually thought about why Hugh didn't have his own red room. I think I would probably bring it back to his story about the kite and the line. The red room was able to get to the kids because they're generally more impressionable than adults. Plus they all seemed to have some level of sensitivity to the supernatural through Liv. Liv, of course, is shown to be very open to the unexplainable throughout the series and would probably be relatively easy to manipulate as well. But Hugh is so grounded. He is usually the one explaining spooky stuff away - it was a dream, it's the pipes, it was your imagination...even the crazy shit that happened during the storm didn't seem to really faze him. Or at least he didn't dwell on it once the mold issue was discovered. Maybe it was just more difficult for the red room to read him. It isn't until Liv's death and he sees her and Abigail as ghosts that he really seems to accept the supernatural nature of the house. The song at the end of this episode is so beautiful and somehow fits the story perfectly. I love the way it, along with Steve's narration, takes us through the montage showing us the aftermath. It's pretty much perfect. I would love to see you react to other projects from Mike Flanagan. Midnight Mass is probably my other favorite, after Hill House...really they're 1A and 1B, but regardless, it's a fantastic series.

Horace rushing Clara to HH before she died was so beautiful and sad😭

I'm at work and just couldn't wait to watch the final reaction. I figured, not much work to do today, I can knock this out without getting emotional. So, here I am, an hour in, and a half a box of tissues later, hoping no one comes to my office wondering why my eyes are all red and my nose is stuffy. I swear, I've seen this show half a dozen times and it still gets me every time. I don't think any of the ghosts were evil, even Poppy. Poppy was just clinically insane and manipulative, but she was probably no different when she was alive. She's definitely not a good person, but she wasn't "evil" like the house was. Maybe a lonely manipulative bitch, but not inherently evil. I think Poppy enjoyed pressing people's buttons and the house used that to its advantage. Ultimately she was like any other bully that preys on the vulnerable. She messed with Liv when she was at her weakest, but once Liv stood up to her at the end she backed right down. I'm curious to know what her official diagnosis was, or would have been if she was diagnosed today. I'm guessing Anti Social Personality Disorder which was made worse by the house. If you look back, the vast majority of the ghosts didn't do anything to hurt the family. Sure, they were scary, they were ghosts after all, but they never physically hurt anyone. Even the ghost in the basement didn't hurt Luke, and Poppy never actually pushed Liv off the balcony. Most of the time they were either being completely innocuous, or even helpful like Mrs. Hill warning Liv not to trust Poppy. The rest of the time they were just standing around or dealing with their own ghostly shit, like the little boy trying to get his mom's attention by banging on the walls, or William looking for his hat or trying to dig himself out of his tomb. Honestly, Liv's ghost was the most dangerous, trying to draw them all back to the house while Nell was trying to keep them away. But even then her intentions were good when you take the whole dream/life delusion into account. She was, in her own way, trying to protect them from the world. I think it would be really cool to see a prequel showing the lives of the Hill family. It seems like they had a lot of drama going on.

Thank god she had her box of tissues

That was a beautiful reaction 💖 I think this show is the best thing ever on TV. And the finale was perfect and tied up everything. He balanced the sad with the hopeful.

My theory is that the house wasn't evil until Poppy joined the mix. None of the other ghosts were actively hostile to the Crane family. Poppy's insanity and cruelty twisted the nature of the house to become malevolent.

MJ Eid

She survived…barely.

I agree about Poppy. So many people say she's evil, but she's not really. At least no more evil than Liv was at the end. We don't even know if Poppy actually even killed anyone. Liv did, though. Poppy was proven to be clinically insane, so her actions are of course very questionable and quickly seen as manipulative, but it seems like people quickly forget about that fact. I would even go as far as saying that Poppy actually believed the stuff she told Liv and wanted to help her keep her kids safe from what she thought was a nightmare.
