Greetings,

last week I continued to render as usual and finished a big scene. Now I'm moving to the next scene. As these were mostly dialogue renders I prepared a little 4K extra render for this progress update. So, the image today is not canon.

Next week I'll continue with the next scene(s).

Some personal bits/thoughts

This week was mostly taken by my real life job. Most of the week I was on a training course. I guess by now everyone knows about the change AI is doing to our world and the implication it has on the job market. I've been adapting to it for quite a while and continue to do so. Part of that is to extend my work scope. "Normal" developers/coders won't be needed much longer for some sections of software development as AI get's increasingly better and that job will probably largely vanish like the Draftsman. So over the last months or nearly a year now I transitioned from Software development to IT architect and will dig even more into the business side of the industry to have a, hopefully, more secure future in the market as the rapid pace of the development of AI is quite scary.

Please do not tell me you're going to start using AI in this project. I really hope thats not the route you are planning to take.😔

Sorry if I didn't express myself correctly. I was speaking about my real life job in the IT industry, not about this game project. I won't use AI image generation. I said that a while ago and I'll stick to it. I won't use AI text generation for dialogues or anything related to the story. I used Frame-Interpolation for animations to increase fps of existing animations, which is somewhat AI, but it doesn't change the appearance of the base frames in any way. Looking at other games how increasingly better AI animations from still frames are becoming I might look into it when I have more time and the appearance of the base frames won't change. While many animations from those game still have a shift in style (from their 3d render style to a 'ai' realistic style) over the duration of the animation, some did manage to make them look coherent to their own renders. When I could get this to work in a reasonable amount of trying, I'd consider it. But I'd also put up samples here first and ask for feedback.

I understand about AI and coding, like many things where they think a secondary brain is somehow better than a human one but AI written code is pretty horrible in general. All it does is take what it's found on the net, usually without any sort of review, and throw it together. Then no one actually reviews it, or there aren't enough people to review it and it becomes shit in general. It makes almost the worst spaghetti code much better. It reminds me of when so many companies sent their customer support off-shore and then their company reputation went downhill quickly because the 'new' customer support was horrible and they eventually started pulling it back in. Some game mod scenes are going downhill quick because people who don't know code or modding are trying to use AI to write mods and they are making all the good mods get lost in a sea of garbage. Good luck on the transition, it sounds like your new approach is better in the long run anyway, since code monkeys from tech schools can do that stuff easy, but teaching people business sense and how to make things work better is a much harder skillset to learn for most.

Okay. Thank you for clarifying that for me. The number one thing I hate is when artists who have a good reputation and make great renders on their own suddenly cheap out and start making AI generated slop art.
