Because we could all use something happy right now.

This is a ~13k one-shot that should be faaaairly obvious what it's about. Things to remember; it's 2009 in this story, and in Alan's life it's a barely-Obama world (and Alan hasn't even been on the planet for most of that time), which is relevant in regards to some of the stuff he says about being gay. Things had not progressed a ton yet.  And the story is so long because there's a lot of Keyd going 'gosh Earth is odd sometimes'. I think people enjoy his awkward fitting-in attempts and the story was fun to write from his POV. It picks up literally right after the end of Skiagraphia, like maybe an hour or two later.

The commentary for this one-shot is going to be available to everyone pledging at any tier! It's a bonus for hanging in there through the two month hiatus. Also maybe some people will find they like the commentary. It will go up in a few more days.

:) That left me with a case of the warm and fuzzies because it meant so much to both Alan and Keyd. Also was happy that people around them just went about their business and didn't care. At the point this story takes place, only 4 states had marriage equality, so I'm glad that their day remained special. Oh and had to chuckle about Avatar.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, no actual marriage equality where Alan lives at this point, although it was briefly legal and then tied up in court hell for the next five years. I think civil unions were kind of allowed, though Haha Avatar is such a dopey movie honestly. Pretty, but so shallow

This is so sweet! It made me smile the whole way through. It's so adorable how in love with Alan Keyd is--I love how observant he is. Their conversation about Avatar is kind of cute and hilarious--and it kind of makes me laugh that they just straight up made out at the movies. I love how genuinely sweet and caring Keyd is, gosh. This is so sweet. And how he just announced "we're marrying!" to the first person he saw. Oh my gosh. Man I loved this, this makes me smile so much. Thank you for posting!

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it! It's fun writing them being sweet and normal with each other and not in some huge crisis, haha. So I'm enjoying all these fluffy one-shots for them. :) And they managed to get aaaalmost all the way through Avatar without giving up and making out. Of course Keyd would be embarrassing person who tells absolutely everyone, even strangers. Alan should have expected that :)
