First of all: Thanks for your patience with us! This one should've been out last week, but a combination of travel, COVID, and end-of-year delays kept us from being able to do this when we wanted.

Second: This isn't our usual style of Q&A. In a sense, there really is only one question, and that is: Which episodes of Clone Wars should I watch?

This is a question we've been asked a ton individually and as a group, especially by those folks who only hopped on board during Andor! Well, here you go, the AMCA Skip List is now REAL.

Consider this a living document, which we'll continue to update as we finish seasons of Clone Wars (and probably Rebels too!)

Eventually it'll also live over on our Cohost, but for now the Google Docs link above is the best place to see it. We explain (and figure out) our methodology in the episode itself.

Thanks again for your support over the two years. It's meant the world to us! Hope everyone's holidays were as good as can be, and that your 2023 is off to a great start!

Just here to say I'm happy they're doing Rebels, even though there's elements of the show on which I'm pretty mixed. I think the payoff of release order is worth. S7 is not just post-Rebels but like also post-Mandalorian.

Chris Mrry

They've said they plan to do this at some point before

Your Name.

A season they won’t get to for like 2 years 😭

Rasmus Löb

Great episode. Now I want the Ali only skip list

MythicalMothman

Release order made sense for the movies, I don't think it makes sense for Rebels. I absolutely love Rebels and it has good tie-ins to TCW, I just think you'll regret not going into season 7 and Bad Batch immediately when they go into SO much post-66 stuff you all are already dying for.

eargan

seconded - season 7 and bad batch are very juicy on all the topics you like to dig into!

David Montes

I love that Natalie basically wanted all but 6 episodes

Meg

I’m all for going in release order, but if the crew checked these comments, I would say to stay in animated SW (minus Andor) rather than switching over to live action (mainly The Mandalorian). So Rebels > S7 > Bad Batch, with Tales of the Jedi in there after S7. Bad Batch S2 is so good and fits right into the continuity, it’s going to be hard to wait however many years for them to get there!

Falcon

First episode of Bad Batch has Rebels content. Absolutely should be watching Rebels before BB.

eddie phlash

Is this going to be finished/updated with the remainder of TCW, and also Rebels? Can we expect a revisit as this year's holiday special?

Gavin Whelan

I’m so late to the party but yes! I think they forgot what happens there in citadel rescue (I think?) and how important it is to the rookies squad

Verdigree

I think Lux Bonterri could be the one thing that explains Ahsoka's seeming fall to the Light Side by The Mandalorian times, is she gets convinced the Jedi are right about relationships

Will R

Glad to see Bombad Jedi made the “must watch” list.

Trevor Christensen

I love this podcast. I found it from a Andor tweet. Great stuff. So happy to pay for the Patreon. (Iiiiiif someone asked me if there’s one thing I’d change, I’d ask whoever has the mechanical keyboard to switch it out for a quieter one during podcast records because it can be pretty distracting. I know I know I’m sorry.) Anyway great stuff. I don’t even watch Clone Wars but I still listen to the pod, that’s how compelling the commentary is.

Trevor Christensen

I thought it was very very frantic mouse clicks at first

Andre Bruwer

Not entirely sold on a skip list, but glad it's there for those who want it. I can't recall, but dit someone post a reading list somewhere?

Captain Fram

Omg I'm only 35mins in and DYING laughing. This is peak AMCA

Blastoise_M

fantastic episode y'all. as someone who's been around since the beginning, it was wonderful getting to hear you go down memory lane with all the stuff we've seen so far, and it was especially useful as a refresher course as we transition back into clone wars from andor. ps: feel better soon rob!

Thursday Garreau

This skip list looks a little foolish in one spot due to some stuff in the final season y’all don’t know about yet - but the rest rocks, I love the pod, keep it coming!

Danny Mason

Great episode just for how fun it was but it's very hard to do a skip list without knowing how many of the dud episodes are gonna end up being important for the rest of Clone Wars / Rebels / Bad Batch No spoilers but there's stuff being skipped here that's still coming into play in Bad Batch S2, these motherfuckers are gonna keep referencing forgotten Clone Wars arcs until it's all unskippable

xandala117

Before i listen just want to say you got nothing to apologize for with this coming out when it does. Its been the holidays and im here to support yous cause i appreciate all you do. Happy new year civilians.

Kel White

“austin desperately trying to explain that for a skip list you need to actually skip episodes” is an incredible energy. also for the r2 fight scene you can absolutely just watch the video cut y’all had up on twitter with your commentary over it. doesn’t get better than that

Charles DiPierro

And that energy being countered by Natalie's: "I have suffered and you must suffer with me"

Coreyyy

The absolute disrespect given to Scooby Doo. *in Padme voice* Austin you’re breaking my heart

Jeff Sisler

Idk if it's fixable but it sounds like there's slack notification noises that happen a couple times .

Joel Solow

This episode is absolute AMCA gold. The negotiation around R3S6 and Blue Shadow virus is itself a payoff on listening to the crew banter and references for a couple of solid years of commentary

Kenneth Elder

I love this, and I love the eventual episode where you are updating the list with a lot of "what were we thinking!?"

Justin Pritchard

I think they are going to have to revisit this list when it comes to the citadel ark after seeing season 7.

Julian "JJBSterling" Barber

As a day one listener, but someone who has not actually watched more than 15min of Clone Wars, this is such an interesting episode. I’m not sure if I’ll actually follow this if I ever do watch it but it’s interesting to hear what the thought process is for the different kinds of people who would want a skip list. Also Natalie made me google what the Lurmen actually look like after all this time lol.

DannyTheDancer

This reminded me to go back and check THE BOX for some wild background action.....

Cayenne Shepherd

I cannot believe that Natalie basically advocated for nothing to be skipped in this skip list, and yet I also don't know how I expected anything else

Addison Stumpf

look, I am simply not going to watch Clone Wars, so a skip list does nothing for me. The skip list *process*, though? That is essential gold-tier AMCA.

matthew everett

Agreed with all the skips. But it should pointed out that the citadel arch comes back in a pretty major way.

Isaac

Do not watch rebels first it is basically Jaybo Hood’s Big Adventure for 4 seasons 😭

logan

Great episode but this is a skip list for cowards lol they coulda cut twice as much as they did.

joey

this q&a is my new fav on the patreon. my god.

Nicholas Kent

The Bombad Jedi talk has got me very excited for the crew to watch the Mace Windu arc in S6

moss

I had almost forgotten about that after my speed watch of s6 😆

Matt Fellows

I am forever cracking up over Natalie's INSISTANCE on objectively terrible episodes being "essential" to the viewing experience 😆. Literally will say some shit like "Noooo, this is the BEST episode arc! This is the arc where Jar Jar traps his own fart in space tupperware and goes on a three-episode adventure with it!! IT IS ESSENTIAL!" Meanwhile Rob is wishing the force was real so he could draw upon it to calm his emotions. I love this pod.

RagnarTheRok

If we’re doing this Star Wars podcast in release order, there are three not-insignificant movies that should also be given the AMCA treatment like - I dunno - “Star Wars” 🙂

Lexi

Alternative episode name "The Natalie Arc" 😂

Lexi

Thank you & appreciate it took a lot of time to put it up there!

Lexi

I will be interested how this evolves three years from now when they get to bad batch! I originally saw only episodes in the Ashoka skip list but AMCA struck again getting me to speed watch all of it last year.

a.t. johnston

i've watched every ep of CW @ least twice, but this was a fun listen, & it's very good this list exists now. super stoked for y'all to get to Rebels, which IS a bit jarring to adjust to, but definitely a great & important SW series overall. for what it's worth, i rather liked Resistance, too. it's not perfect, but it's very star warsy with lots of great setting work & many characters that i enjoyed. Hope Rob is all better now, & all blessin'z to you all for the .new year!

Zachary Jurbina

They should skip Resistance because it is straight up not part of the cycle Filoni started with Clone Wars. Eveeryone would just consider it an unnecessary roadblock to Season 7 and Bad Batch.

Psittacus

As much as it will suck having to wait for you to get to Season 7, watching Rebels first is the right move because it was very obviously made in the context of Rebels having had existed.

Doodles

Has AMCA ever covered the Genddy Tartakovsky mini series? I see it as much of a foundational text to the series as the prequel trilogy itself. Many of the characters and concepts(Grievous, Assajj, Arc Troopers, Shirtless Kit Fisto etc) are first explored in those mini episodes. Some moments, especially with Anakin, hit harder than the films. It’s definitely worth a watch between 6-7 if it hasn’t yet been covered yet.

a.t. johnston

I agree with CWs7 & bad batch 1st fer shur. good call.

Stacy

ALL skip list are for cowards. team no Skip!

Alex Langley

Rebels is short... right? Right, guys?
