It feels so good to be painting again after ten days at my computer. I started this cheeky boy yesterday. This is gorgeous French Ultramarine Blue that I'm using.  I'm filming this one so hopefully it will work out ok so I can make a tutorial for you. I have a Sea Turtle ready to go as well and there are lots of flowers I want to get to and I also want to do a tutorial about painting on Aquaboard. So much to do!

Tomorrow is the weekend and Dom and I have decided to paint the outside of our house. We have a brick home that had been 'bagged' (sort of like a cheap version of cement rendering). It's currently a sandy, yellowy, beige oxide colour but we want to paint it white. So we've decided to take on the task before the summer heat hits. It's a big two storey home and both of us are in our 50's with bad backs so I don't know how we are going to go up and down ladders and walking on the verandah roof 😳 🤞🏻.  I'll post some photos for you when I can 😬.

Enjoy your weekend!

Well, of COURSE your bird-painting will "turn out okay"; it always does! My goodness! As to your house, well, I imagine it will look fabulous, and you should go ahead and buy a ship's container of that beautiful Ultramarine and use it on the south side of your house, and while you're at it, some reds and yellows for a few native birds - Kingfisher, Cockatoo, that friendly red Australian parrot, then some flora and fauna you're so wonderful at painting... Wouldn't that be lovely? You'd certainly have the most colorful house in all of Australia. At any rate, I'm mostly jealous of you having two whole DAYS to paint. *sigh* I've been putting in 12-hour days at work myself and would give my left arm (not my right, that's my painting arm) to have just a few hours of painting time! I did get a couple of hours this week, though, and it was exciting enough searching for my art supplies and eventually finding maybe half of them (pretty good success rate in my book). I even had enough time left to finish the first layer of your Monstera leaf - this is my first "Louise" painting - actually, my first ever watercolor painting, assuming I finish it. I'm just starting. So I thought the leaf looked the easiest of them all, plus I like leaves. And I see by my calendar I may have four hours free in a couple of weeks, too. Hard to learn to paint when you just have a few hours here and there, but I do have a travel set I use during long lunch breaks in court. I've never painted anything I'd want to show anyone, but it helps to practice technique. (To be honest, I also love to do pen & ink, calligraphy, colored pencil, line drawing, etc., translation: doodling, I suppose) You are just creating so many beautiful paintings, I've got to find a way to either retire now or break my leg and be confined to my art table -- I mean my bed for a couple of months, because my crazy job is just interfering way too much with my painting efforts! Well, look at this, another "short" post... Sorry. Quit reading and go paint!

Hi Louise, your parrot is looking good. I’m nearly finished with the hydrangea. It’s quite challenging. I’ll finish it tomorrow. Be careful painting your house. Thanks for your tutorials. What a talent?

Amy Arendsen

The bird looks amazing so far. I love the lines in the beak. I remember the first time a saw one of these birds up close. Their color is so beautiful it's hard to believe they are real. Please be careful and take it slow on the ladder.

Louise De Masi

Lol...I've been thinking about you Vickie. I hadn't heard from you for a while so I thought to myself that you must be busy with work. I wish you had more time to paint too! You mention pen and ink- I want to do a few tutorials with ink and watercolour. I also want to do some watercolour and coloured pencil pieces..... one thing at a time Louise! Take care of yourself and schedule in some 'Vickie' time as soon as you can.

Hotflash Vickie

Trust me, I fantasize about some Vickie time, and I plan on taking some very soon, whether those lawyers like it or not (they usually don't). And you enjoy your Louise time; I know WE do!!

Henry De los Rios

👀 looking forward to seeing that parrot video 👏🏼

Beatrice Miller

Love the parrot so far. Please stay safe. What would we do without you?? Sending love and prayers

Gorgious macow! My figers start itching when I see such a beautiful bird cause I like to sketch/paint it:) I also want to say a huge thank you for teaching us how to stretch the paper. I bought some gatorboard and it is great. It is not heavy, you can re-use it all the time and the stretching goes great. I finally am producing 'flat' images rather then end up with wavy paper! I have used both hot press and cold press paper:)

Louise De Masi

Thanks Henry! I'll finish painting it tomorrow and then I'll get started on the tutorial.

Louise De Masi

Hi Kathy! Thank you very much. I just saw your Hydrangea. It's so beautiful. You've done an amazing job. Your colours are fresh and delicate.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Beatrice! I will. I'll be back out there today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 😘

Louise De Masi

Thank you Marijke. That's great about the paper stretching and the gator board. I won't paint on paper unless I stretch it first (that's anything 300gsm in weight and under). I've even stretched 640gsm weighted paper in the past. The gatorboards are so great. I'm glad I discovered them. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. 🧡

I love the way you show how you use such great control with watercolor I have watched others who say you have to be close and you have little to no control now I know why a master once said "you have to gain control to lose control"... great job on your teaching method and your beautiful work!

Louise De Masi

Thank you Kathy! That's a great quote to remember. I like that. I've never heard that before but it makes sense to me. In order to lose control well you have to gain control first. 💜

Kathy Carmon

I never understood it until I watched ur work... Thank You so much for sharing ur gift! I hope I can master it soon been to busy to try but I have been watching ur videos and I can't wait to see what I can do once again Thank You...

Momma Cheryl

Take it easy on the back. I know you have issues, so please don't make them worse. I'm recovering from surgeries 5 and 6 (8 hour surgery for #6) just 2 mouths ago and the healing is so slow. So, leave the house and take care of your back. Have a wonderful weekend.

Louise De Masi

I'm sorry to hear that Cheryl. 6 surgeries? You poor thing! Take care of yourself too. It sounds like you need some quality painting time! 😘

Wendy Robinson

Hi Louise I’m really sorry to have to get in touch with you through the comment section. I joined your online tutorials on patio yesterday. PayPal has deducted the payment and now I’m unable to get on any of the middle tier tutorials. I have also sent an email to Patreon about this but everytime I try and access your tutorials I keep being asked to become a patron and choose which tier I would like to be on? At the moment I’m unable to access your tutorials and cannot even send you a message because according to this site I am not a patron when I am. I don’t know if you have any ideas what The problem could be and I would be grateful for any help you could give. Regards Penelope

Louise De Masi

Hi Penelope/Wendy, I just had a look on my end and the reason you can't message me or see the tutorials is because it says you are a follower and not a patron. No money has been deducted according to my records here. I hope that helps you.

Little Glass Den

Hi I don’t know if there was a glitch in the system but have been able to logon with no problems today! Thanks for your help and also according to my PayPal account money has been deducted so I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve completed the leaf and I’m just going to attempt the robin today so fingers crossed

Louise De Masi

Hi Penelope, That's very weird but I'm glad you were able to log in ok today. The first message you sent me is from 'Wendy Robinson' but this second message has your name as 'Penelope Bobbin'. Is that because you had to make an account to follow me in order to send me a message? If so, and it happens again in the future and you can't get in touch with me, go to my website www.lousedemasi.com and contact me through there. Good luck with the robin today. Let me know if I can help you. 🧡
