Hi everyone,

Happy 2020! I hope you are all happy and well.

As you know we are suffering over here from a horrendous drought and catastrophic bush fires. Thank you for all of your concern and good wishes. We are safe here on the mid north coast of NSW where I live but I wish I could say the same for the people down south. Thank you very much for thinking of us.

I have spent the last few days of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 working on some new tutorials for you. I am working on a Bald Eagle for all the intermediate/advanced painters and I am also working on a fairly simple pen and wash dragonfly tutorial for my beginners. They will be ready soon. I am trying to do the voice over for them but my sweet husband Dom is still on holidays from work and he's busy out on the verandah roof, painting fascia and eaves (see last photo). You'd think this would be a quiet endeavor with just soft strokes of the paint brush........but no......... there is drilling and hammering and singing to John Mayer involved. So I'm getting a little frustrated because I have to keep re-recording my voice.

I have lots planned for 2020 tutorials including and not limited to, a koala, international birds (crane, heron, stork, owl, penguin, flamingo etc) and Australian birds ...(kookaburras, magpies, parrots etc), elephant, giraffe,  lots of flowers, some fish, some succulents, fruits and veggies. I also want to try my hand at some simple landscapes and portraits if I have time.

I have a few tutorials that I made for YouTube before I started here on Patreon that patrons have asked about such as the Stellar Jay, the Crested Pigeons, the King Parrot and my Dalmatian. The tutorials on YouTube are not full length nor are they completely in depth so as long as I have all of the footage recorded I can make some full length - in depth tutorials of those paintings as well for you.

I have lots to do! I just popped in to let you know that I am thinking of you all and I am busy working for you. Thank you again for your patronage. Your support is very much appreciated.

Stay safe.

Louise

Your enthusiasm is so INFECTIOUS!!!! YAY!! Love to see the word "beginner" anywhere in your writing, as my eye is instantly drawn to it, even in my advanced age, having just returned from the retirement office to find out when, oh, when can I finally retire, get my knee fixed and just sit and paint, and we're aiming for June this year! YAY again! I don't even care if I'm broke after that, which is why I'm buying up Blick's and Amazon NOW! LOL!! So can't wait to see that dragonfly, with my eye on the Eagle (go USA, just in time for the Olympics), and we're all very amused at Dom and jealous that you have a husband who even works on the house, with a bonus of SINGING whilst doing it! Girl, you have got it MADE!!!! No wonder your energy is so boundless ;)

Debbie Renwick

Thank you! So excited about more birds! Happy New Year! May you br safe and blessed!

I’m so glad you and your husband are out of danger where you are. I think of you often and have wondered if the fires were near you again,or ,still. Happy new year !!! May it bring lots of rain to Australia!

Rainkatt

I'm happy to see koala on the list, so heartbroken at seeing them suffer such a terrible demise. Americans love and treasure koalas. I saw 2 at the San Francisco zoo many years ago, precious creatures

Rainkatt

And if course our national bird! We have them everywhere here west of Seattle. I love to watch them and hear their conversations in the spring

Amy Arendsen

I am looking forward to all of the new tutorials. I love koalas. This is such an adorable video of a baby koala getting kicked out of a tree. https://youtu.be/O0cAx1jLbJk

Happy New Year! I am so glad you are doing fine. I have seen horrible videos on the news about Australia even here in Southern California where I live. I have been thinking about you, a lot of your students who live in Australia and wild creatures living there. I am so excited to hear you have planned a lot of projects for us! Thank you so much for showing your enthusiasm and passion to us! Your paintings always make me happy and inspiring, and I am so fortunate learning painting from you! We all love you, Louise!💕

Chantelle Venter

Happy New Year Louise. Hope tou had a great one. And glad you are safe from the fires. I've seen some devastating images of places that burnt down 😢 Love the dragonfly lesson. Can't wait to try it 😍

Patricia Espinoza

Ciao Louise ! It is good news that you are safe and sound at home with your husband. Your watercolor projects sound TERRIFIC!!! I can't wait to try all of them. Thank you so MUCH for being so caring about your students community. It was fun painting with you last year and it will be even better this year ! 😄😉

All the very best for 2020. Those dragonflies look like looooooooots of fun and move into an area I'm really interested in - ink and wash - with a loose look. As for the planned 'possible-s' they all sound marvellous. So glad you are safe, may you stay that way. Not about as much as normal atm, but still keeping watch and enjoying seeing your plans. The zebra awaits me :) xx

Bruna Ciabarri

Best wishes for a gorgeous “artistic” 2020! Ready with my colours and brushes to follow your great projects!👩🏻‍🎨🐨🦅🐘

Happy New Year, so glad to hear you are away from those nasty fires. So worried about the fires down south - all the people and animals..... heart breaking. Hope it will rain lots soon! Talking of rain and clouds... I struggle painting clouds - perhaps something you can fit in at some point, no rush!

Amanda Buisson

Happy new year Louise, I hope you have a wonderful year. Can't wait to see your coming works and tutorials :) My prayers you and your community remain safe, the fires are just horrible.

Marianne Dickinson

I love pieces that can be grouped, so an elephant and giraffe would be awesome to go with the Zebra. Also long legged birds like the crane, heron, stork and flamingo. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Jeanette Mahoney

These paintings look amazing. I love he looseness in them. You do such a wonderful job. Thank you so much. I’m glad you are safe where you live. I too think of you every time the new shows the devastation from the fires.

Katherine Docherty

Hi Louise, Many Blessings in the New Year to you and yours. I have been praying for you daily with these terrible wildfires. I am glad you are safe, and of course I will continue to pray daily for all those effected. My brother requested an eagle painting for Christmas and my first attempt went out in the mail yesterday. I can tell I already like your interpretation of all those feathers much better than the photo realism I was leaning towards when I painted his. Looks like he'll be getting a second painting soon! I really enjoy your style The tutorials are really well done. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.

Lydia Shemain

Just listening to the news and the wildfires. Are you and your family okay? Special thoughts and prayers for you and your family and the Australians — how devastating. Stay safe.

LudiLu

Bonjour Louise et bonne année 2020 to you and your family! So glad to hear you are safe and wishing you some rain very soon. I am very happy to finally join your Patreon community and looking forward to learning from you this year. Greetings from Europe ✨

Eve Eichner

All your tutorial plans look wonderful! 💖 Glad your safe. I see blue skys in the background of Dom hard at work. 👌 Happy New Year!

Louise De Masi

Thank you Vickie. June is not far away. The time will pass quickly! Dom went back to work yesterday so I was able to get those tutorials finished. 😝

Irene Konowal

Happy New Year Louise, Praying that some rain will come your way ... I am searching for the Barn Owl tutorial on Patreon and cannot find it. I've seen it on YouTube but of course, it doesn't have the full tutorial version. Please guide me where to find it. Thank you.

Kelle Luoma

Really wish we could send you a gentle, soaking rain. So heartbreaking to see not only the native animals dying in the fires, and of hunger and thirst, but to see activities like the culling of 10k camels. I get that they are pests and causing havoc and competing for resources with native species, but they didn't ask for their ancestors to be brought to Australia. :( I hope it rains soon. We were lucky this year, even though we were 30 cm short on rainfall this year, we didn't have any widespread fires in Washington State, USA.

Louise De Masi

Hi Irene, Thank you - happy new year to you too! I painted the Barn Owl before I had decided to join Patreon so there is no tutorial here yet. It is just on YouTube. There are a few of the YouTube tutorials that patrons have asked about so I have started making some full length versions of them. As long as I have all the footage of the Barn Owl I can do that one too. All of the tutorials on here so far, you'll see at a glance on my index that I have put on my website. They link back here to the tutorial. It's here: http://www.louisedemasi.com/new-index I've also got the link in the blurb under my welcome video here on Patreon. ☺️

Sharon Bernhardt

Praying for rain for you! I would LOVE to see you paint some poppies! A coral or orangey color. If you can do a tutorial of some poppies some time I would be grateful for that! Love your paintings!
