I LOVED painting this bald eagle!! What a wonderful tutorial, Louise! I'm finding that painting in a "negative" painting style is really fun for me. I'm so grateful I found your website -- you've given me the "fire in the belly" back!!

Louise De Masi

That's wonderful Jan. I'm so pleased. Thank you! ❤️

Thanks for sharing your work with this tutorial, it sums up everything I like to paint birds, feathers, washes, color mixing, reverse painting... I really enjoyed watching you paint. Thank you.

This looks like a fun one :-). I have learned so much so fast. Coming from oil and watercolor is SOOOOO different... but I got the fundamentals pretty quickly thanks to you... I painted one of your rose tutorials... do you have a place where we can show it, if we wanted to? Also, that spinning palette you have did they ever make one in porcelain? And do you prefer to just put out wet paint each time you paint or keep it in a large pallet and allow it to dry up? Probably a combination of both I would imagine. thanks, Louise!

Hi Deborah, That's wonderful and I'm so pleased! Watercolour is very different. You can post photos from your phone in the community section of the Patreon app. You can also join the Facebook group I have. Patrons have set up albums there for each of the tutorials. They post photos of their paintings there. There is also the Discord group where patrons share their paintings. There's no porcelain version of the spinning palette. I am currently using a ceramic palette that I bought from Jackson's. They might be out of stock of it at the moment. I just went on the website and couldn't see it. When they get it again I'll list it on the Supplies page of my website. Thank you!

I put out fresh paint when I mix colours. It's easier to mix with wet paint than paint that has hardened on the palette. I often find it difficult to get the value I need if I have to rewet the pigment. If I use the colours as they are without mixing I usually rewet the hardened paint on the palette.

You are a doll. Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I am actually a photographer. I do architectural and landscape photography mainly. I started painting when Covid came around back in 2020. Seemed very natural to me because I'm so familiar with, color and highlights and shadows and values. But of course, as we all know, experience is quite different than theoretic knowledge! :-) Keep up the great work. I appreciate the quality video you put out. I work with Final Cut Pro every day, and I know what it takes to produce quality video that is in focus, intriguing, and a whole other list of things that I'm sure you're quite familiar with. You're doing an outstanding job and I don't say that lightly! You take care now. By the way, you're welcome to have a look at my website, and I have many artists that have used some of my landscape work. I have sections on nature, bird, wildlife, atmospheric conditions, and many other things. I live here in Asheville, North Carolina, right in the middle of the Blue Ridge mountains and so there's eye candy everywhere I look inspiration is abundant and I'm grateful and thankful for it.

Well thank you , coming from you it means a great deal! And if ever you want to use something you see, which could be buried in sub-levels on that site, please feel free. Unlimited license for painting purposes is provided to you Louise and your Patreon students.
