Hi everyone,

Happy Easter!

Even though we can't go and visit our families and do what we normally do I hope you have a great weekend.

Here's a new video that I posted on my YouTube channel where I give some hints and tips about painting white subjects in watercolor. I demonstrate how I painted parts of this white Cockatoo. If you'd like me to make a full length tutorial of this Cockatoo let me know. It's not too difficult to paint.

Next week I'll have the Dalmatian tutorial for you and I've painted two vegetable paintings for the beginners (nice and simple). I am also working on the Sweet Peas tutorial and the other Hummingbird. I'll get them all posted as soon as I can.

Henry De los Rios

I’m looking forward to the tutorial on the Dalmatian. Louise I have given up on the birds that have these type of feathers, I just can’t get it. I’m just an airhead the separation of the feathers give me a hard time

Marion Aitken

Please please do a full tutorial. I love this!!!

Suzanne canner

Loved your out takes as well as your video. Thanks

Margaret B Smith

Thank you so much, I have been curious as to how to approach this subject. May your Easter be a special one, despite the abnormal circumstances we are living in. I trust that your leg is, or has healed.

Eva-Lynn Moses

Thanks Louise! I really feel like I am learning a lot from your videos. There was so much useful info in this one—I’m going to see if I can apply some of this in my paintings.

LORETTA SUE WHEELER

Louise you're such an inspiration. I would love to see this in a tutorial. Have a lovely Easter and keep your brushes wet.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Sue. I like that....."Keep your brushes wet.' 💕

Louise De Masi

Thank you Margaret. Yours too! Thank you my leg is better now. 💕

I really struggle with not trying to include ALL the details and then I have nothing as the main focus. I believe you mentioned that you used to struggle with this as well a few years ago. So, I am looking to you for inspiration in my transition to looser watercolor painting! And I am very impressed and inspired so far. ;^) I think perhaps if I can focus on negative painting and very simple paintings with one major focus, light colors and whites, it may help me to dispel my brain's desire to paint every detail that I see and become a bit more interpretive/creative. I would love to see a full tutorial on this painting or anything with a similar focus. Thanks so much!

Lydia Shemain

Happy Easter Louise. Thanks for another great tutorial. Looking forward to the sweet peas and the beginner tutorials.

Maxine Miller

Hi I would love to try painting this bird so a tutorial would be great - hope you and your family keep safe

Naoko Mori

Happy Easter! Thank you so much for sharing another great tips, One of my dream subjects is my own dog, who has white fur. These tips will help me try painting her. And yes, I would like to paint this cockatoo. Have a wonderful Easter with your husband and please stay healthy!

Rachelle

Hi Louise and Happy aster. this cockatoo is too cute. If it's possible to have a l’enthousiasmait tutorial it would be great

alex waterville

Hi Louise happy Easter to you. Will the sweet peas be semi-beginner friendly? Vegetables don't appeal to me even though I'm a lifelong vegetarian lol. Xx

Eve Eichner

Happy Easter! Great tutorial for us as always! Loved the funny clips at the end......hi Dom 👍 Cant wait for the sweet peas and the veggies.

Lori Hitchcock

New subscriber here. This tutorial was very helpful. You have such a wonderful style. I would love to see the full tutorial or any step by step tutorial on painting white feathers or fur. Both textures are still challenging for me.

Marijke de Boer

Looking very nice and I had a giggle seeing the bloopers at the end! I seem to remember seeing a lovely seal ..... I shall wait patiently for that tutorial. I am a vegetarian so any veggies are good too:) Happy Easter and I do hope your leg is getting better.

Louise De Masi

Hi Alex, I was thinking that maybe beginners could do one of the flowers instead of all three. It was be less overwhelming then.

alex waterville

Excellent thank you. Can I be cheeky and ask for one request? My mum helps me so much so that I can live an independent life and has one wish...she wants me to paint her a passion flower but I feel really out of my depth whenever I have tried. Would you consider it for a tutorial? Xx

Louise De Masi

Oh wow they look really difficult to paint. I'll put it on my list Alex but I'm not sure how successful I'd be painting one either. 😬💕

Michelle Wainer

Beautiful. I love the way you do feathers. One of the issues I deal with is backgrounds: when to use, what colors to use, and where to place them. Ideas or tips for this?

Pam Causey

Happy Easter Louise this was great to watch and your comments were very helpful , I have always been scared to try one with lots of white but this made a lot of sense to me on how to visualize and actually see the shading . Thank u again would like to try this bird ! Hope your leg is healing too. 🐰

Louise De Masi

Thanks Michelle. That's a good idea for a tutorial.

Elaine

Thank you Louise, great tips I might actually tackle something white now. I absolutely loved the bloopers 😁💕

Diane Key

I would love for you to do a full tutorial and have a line drawing to get me started.

Linda McGarrol

Marleen Jamers

Marleen Jamers

And thanks for you're lovely bloopers 🙏😆💝

Pamela Rivera

Raul Lara

Cecil p. Hoo

Very good louise as usual. Question. When u r tracing the bird or birds do u also trace the raised feathers or u use a special technique to make it look so realistic. Would u care to elaborate. Thanks.

Louise De Masi

Thanks Cecil. I'll trace any feathers I want to paint on in detail. I'm making a full length tutorial of this Cockatoo painting. It should be ready this month. I'll be able to show you what I do then.

Saloni Chawla

Lovely bird indeed ! Enjoyed the lesson and learning’s from you. Thank you
