Hi everyone,

I hope you are keeping busy and staying well. This is the Harvest Mouse tutorial to help you keep busy.  So much to paint....so little time! I haven't had time to do any portrait or landscape practice this month but I'm hoping to give myself a bit of time this weekend 🤞🏻.

All of the files to complete the painting are attached below my message here. The reference photo I purchased from Wildlife Reference Photos. It was taken by Julie Hunt. If you'd like to purchase your own copy - here is the link: https://wildlifereferencephotos.com/media.details.php?mediaID=61153  I have also put the link on the Supplies List.

I've included an enlarged copy of the line drawing that you can print on two pages and tape together.

The frog, waterlily, kookaburra, Carolina wren and heron tutorials are all still under construction. I'll post them one by one as I complete them.

Have fun painting!

hi louise looking forward to all four take care x

Kristina

I adore this.... excited to think about trying!

Louise De Masi

Hi Connie, any light earthy brown you have. Raw Sienna would be good or mix a bit of yellow into Burnt Sienna.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Lydia. The eye is a bit annoying at the moment. I'm seeing lots of floaters but not many lightning flashes now. The left eye is playing up now too. I'm falling to bits 🥴. Hopefully it won't take months to improve. 🤞🏻 I hope you are well! 💕

Louise, sorry to hear your eye is still acting up, take care — eyes are precious.

Have you changed your vidios to play through Vimo, ? Makes it hard to watch ... Or have i been hacked ?

Louise De Masi

Hi Jackie, I've been putting the tutorials on Vimeo for 6 months now. I found out that the unlisted tutorials I had put on YouTube aren't safe. Apparently there are sites you can go to and download/watch unlisted YouTube videos. I had to open an account on Vimeo but they are safe from poachers there.

Katrina Woollatt

thank you so much, Louise, for doing the mouse before the other upcoming subjects you previewed! It was my top choice! Wishing you a quick healing with your eyes...

Renee Howard Cassese

This is up next in my painting queue. I have only focused on flowers and some birds so this is a new challenge for me! Thank you so much Louise for your wonderful tutorials. They teach me so much and keep me inspired.

I don't have Potters Pink (yet). Could you recommend a substitute? Thanks!

Louise De Masi

Hi Carol - Here's a video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJXPQxVRTiM The suggestion on the video is Permanent Rose, Burnt Umber and a touch of Ultramarine. That mixture will give you a colour that resembles Potters Pink. I use only a small amount of it here in this tutorial. You could also try Permanent Rose with a dash of Burnt Sienna in it to make it more earthy looking.

Hi Louise! Am I correct that this little mouse is sitting on a poppy seed pod? Thank you.
