Rosemary and Co Series 8 Sable brushes - my thoughts (Patreon)

Hi everyone,
I hope you are well! I'm popping in to give you my thoughts on the Rosemary and Co brushes I bought a month ago.
Here is the post where I opened the package: https://www.patreon.com/posts/38518201

I bought these brushes to try them out because they are a not as expensive as the Da Vinci Maestro brushes I love to use.
I chose the series 8 Rosemary and Co sable brushes because they are similar to the brushes I love to use. They have a fine point and I prefer to paint with round brushes that have a point rather than those that are blunt and cut with a rounded edge.
I think they are a really nice brush to use. They hold the paint well and release it onto the paper well. They behave in a similar way to the Maestros as far as releasing the paint onto the paper. I found them to be a thirsty brush and I had to keep wetting them before I picked the paint up. I found a few times that the bristles would start to separate as I was painting which I found frustrating. It didn't happen all the time. Maybe it was because they are new and need to be worn in a little 🤷🏼♀️. If it keeps happening I’ll be disappointed. When I picked up the paint with these brushes I found it best if I gave them a little twirl in the paint to make sure the points were well formed.
I prefer the feel of the Maestro brushes in my hand. The handles on the Maestros are thicker and they feel more comfortable for me to hold. That could be because the Maestros are more familiar to me. I’ve been using them for 5 years now and my hand is used to them.
All in all they are a very nice brush to use. They are comparable and more affordable than the Da Vinci Maestros. The largest Maestro I have is a number 8. I’d like to get some larger sizes but they are too expensive. What I think I might do is buy the larger sizes in the Rosemary and Co (over a size 8) because they are cheaper and I’ll keep buying my Maestros in the smaller sizes. I feel that I can get better precision with the Maestros because of their point and because I find the handle more comfortable to hold.
Tomorrow I will be posting the tutorial for the Carolina Wren below so stay tuned for that. Today I finished the big Heron painting so I'll get that tutorial ready for you as soon as I can.
