What's on my painting table? (Patreon)

Hi everyone,
I'm popping in to let you know what I've been up to this weekend.
Life got in the way last week and I lost two working days which meant I didn't have time to get a YouTube video done for this weekend. I was feeling guilty and anxious about it but I realised that I can only do so much. My health and state of mind needs to come first or I'm no good to anybody. So after some self reflection I told myself it's ok to say no.....' No Louise you are not going to get a YouTube video done this week and that's ok.'
This weekend I thought I'd try and get some voice over done on the Heron tutorial but Dom has been scraping the paint off the windows outside. That involves scrape, scrape, screech, screech sounds with the little hand scraper (like fingernails down a chalkboard) and it also involves the buzz of the electric sander now and then. As well as that, singing loudly to John Mayer in a voice that sounds like a dying cat seems to be a requirement (he's obsessed with his music) 🥴. So I gave up with the voice over and did some painting instead.
I painted the Goldfish first which helped me relax and then I did some studies of a cat today. Cats are not something I find easy to paint. I've always struggled with them for some reason. I think I get lost in the patterns on the fur and then I overwork the painting and they invariably get tossed into the rubbish bin. With these studies I tried to relax and let the paint do what it wants to do and accept what it gives me. I deliberately used a larger brush for most of it only swapping to a smaller one at the end. I'm fairly happy with both of these. They are quite pretty to look at. The photos don't do them justice. I filmed the second one I painted so hopefully I'll be able to put a tutorial together for you and I'll try to talk about what was going through my head as I painted it. Although knowing me I may paint another one tomorrow. Studies are really important and helpful! Have I told you that? 😝
Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
Louise
