Hi everyone,

Happy Valentine's Day! If you didn't get any roses, I'm sending this one to you ❤️.

It was Valentine's Day yesterday for us in the southern hemisphere so we've been there, done that 🥀😝.

I didn't get any roses from Dom and I didn't give him anything either. We have other things on our mind. He must have felt the need to acknowledge the day because after he finished painting out on our deck yesterday afternoon he grabbed the secateurs and headed off around our garden. He presented me with a handful of home grown grevilleas and ivory curl flowers, photo below. He's a good man. ❤️

All of the files you need to complete the painting are attached below my message here. You can download them to your device. I've included a photo of my finished painting rather than a scan of it (like I usually do). I feel the photo shows more of the subtle value variations than the scan does. If you need me to enlarge the line drawing onto two pages let me know and I'll do that for you.

I'll put this tutorial on the indexes so you can find it when you want to watch it.

PS: The Goat tutorial will be published next. Our little grandson is doing well. Thank you so much for all of your kind messages and prayers. They mean the world to Dom and I. I told Ryan, our son, that many of you were thinking of our grandson and he told me to thank all of you! They flew Logan (that's his name) back to our hospital here near our home last Thursday. He will stay there, in the special care nursery, until he learns how to breast feed properly. At the moment he is being tube fed for most of his meals. I can't wait for them to leave hospital so I can finally hold him and spend some time with them.

Louise

So happy to hear of Logan’s good progress; nothing else matters! My first son was 3 weeks early, my sister’s twins 6 weeks early, all 3 babies were in the preemie nursery for weeks, so I KNOW what your family is going they: it’s as if the world around you stopped and you cannot hear or see anything that happens other than your baby’s every breath and heartbeat. Every single thought centers around when you can get him home and just HOLD him and be his family, because you just Know in your heart he needs his family right now as badly as you need him, and there is a cold, dark place in your chest where your heart was and that will not be the same until he is in your arms and HOME. The hospital process will be the slowest days and weeks of your lives and no amount of cheery relatives will change the fact that your life will not get back to normal and you will not be content again until you can hold Logan in your arms and BREATHE.

Thank you so so much Louise <3 <3

Well I think the flowers he gave you were even more special than store bought flowers. The arrangement is beautiful. You are right, he sounds like an good man!!! I hope your grandson is doing well ♥️!¡!♥️ I'm still thinking about him and sending positive healing energy your way. 🧡💚🧡

Louise De Masi

Hi Pam, thanks for letting me know. I deleted the first reference photo file and I've uploaded it again. See if it works for you now. Let me know if it doesn't.

Flowers from the garden handpicked are special ❤️ So pleased Logon is making good progress and now close to you. Fingers crossed he will be able to leave soon and be home with you all. Thank you so much for your dedication to the group, but we all understand your priority and please don’t feel pressured to post - your family and time with them is the most important - you have left us plenty of tutorials to be getting on. Sending thoughts and best wishes. ❤️

Thanks so much Vickie. That's exactly how we feel. It's a rollercoaster ride that you've been on too. Yesterday one of the dr's here told Ryan and Laura that they were concerned he had a hernia. If he did he would have to be flown back to the hospital he just came from for surgery. Laura was so upset all day. They did an ultrasound and had to wait for the results. The dr rang them at 9.00 last night. Their hearts sank when the phone rang but the dr told them he doesn't have a hernia and he won't have to be flown back to the other hospital. They are so relieved. Yesterday Ryan (my son) sent me a video of Logan and Laura. Laura was holding Logan on her chest (doing a kangaroo cuddle) while she read The Hobbit to him. It was beautiful - made me cry. We will keep waiting patiently until we can see him. Thank you! 😘

Prayers for the little one and your family, Louise; as was said before, we all understand your concern...you are such a joy...take care of yourself

Hi Louise my thoughts are with you, my granddaughter was born two weeks ago and I know the stress and anxiety before the birth is hard to bear, but to have complications after the birth, is a whole other turmoil to go through. Sending love and support to you all.

Jessie Doherty

Thank you so much Louise, love this rose!!! So glad to hear little Logan is doing well! Take care!

cheryl

Thank you Louise, my prayers are with your grandson. I think the flowers your husband picked are much nicer than bought ones as they were gathered with care.

Marie Gruber

Oh my goodness ... such beautiful flowers! Praying for your grandson and his parents and family.

Carol Henderson

My very best wishes to you and your family, especially little Logan. Hope you are able to give him a cuddle soon. X

My daughter’s first child had issues the first few weeks of his life so I can relate. But we weren’t hanging in Covid limbo at the time so I was able to fly down and hold him. Cade will be 10 this month and although he still has scans he continues to amaze his doctors at Children’s hospital here in Houston.. We’ll also welcome sibling #4 and my 7th grandchild in May. 2021 is turning out to be pretty special! Continued prayers for your grandson that he’ll learn to nurse with ease. 😉

Olivia Joy

I couldn't agree more Ali! Louise if you need to take a break, I'm pretty sure we would all understand. Sending more prayers for little Logan and your son and daughter-in-law. Praying he gets the hang of feeding when he's strong enough! Much love!

Shelley Hastings

Thank you for the rose tutorial. Can't wait to try it. So happy to hear Logan is doing well. I bet you just can not wait to snuggle with the little guy. Grandkids are the best.

What a beautiful arrangement, well don Dom! Louis you and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for baby Logan. In spite of all that is going on in your life Louise you continue to inspire us with your beautiful art, thank you so much. God Bless ❤️💕

Margaret Roberts

Thanks for the tutorial, Louise. I’m going to do it today for #opusdailypractice. I am so glad to hear that your little Logan is doing well, and has been moved closer to home. You’ll be cuddling him soon. ❤️ Great bouquet Dom! You’re a keeper.

Julie Schwindt

What a great name for a strong little boy! Keep fighting Logan! Way to nail it Dom. Beautiful bouquet!

Vikki L Gray

Hi Louise. Love your rose and will try to paint it today. FYI - Your Progress Photo 2 downloads as some weird kind of photo that I can't open. The rest are fine. Thanks

Renee Howard Cassese

Beautiful rose, gorgeous flowers! So glad to hear Logan is doing better. Sending more good wishes your way.

Louise De Masi

Thanks Vikki. I've deleted the first progress photo 2 and uploaded it again and it's working for me now. That happened with the reference photo too. Some sort of weird technical glitch when I uploaded them. Let me know if it's not working for you now.

Cheryl Norris

Beautiful tutorial of a rose Louise. I'll be praying for your grandchild and hoping Grand-mama will be snuggling with Logan soon. Stay safe.

Sharon E Toombs

I didn't realize your grandchild was in the hospital but wish him all the best and hope he's home very soon.

Kari Howry

This is beautiful. I hope Logan is able to come home soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sandra Domitrovich

Relieved to hear the good news about Logan. Prayers answered

Vee

So happy to hear that your little Logan is improving. It must be a very worrying time for all of you - trusting that all will be well very soon. There is nothing like holding one's little grand baby close to your heart! Your flowers are absolutely beautiful - you have a very special guy in Dom. But then again, he is very fortunate to have a jewel like you! Thank you for this beautiful rose - it is stunning! xxx

I have just printed off my first project with Louise. I am so excited. I saw the first video and I thought it was charming. Thank you for doing this.

Kelle Luoma

Loving this project, Louise. I was started to get a bit bored with roses, but this has sparked my passion for them again. And I'm actually doing a red flower that isn't looking overworked and chalky!

Louise De Masi

That's great Kelle, I'm glad! Red is a difficult colour to use. I find I've got to paint quite a few layers to build up the colour but if I put the colour on too dark it can look flat.
