Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, some of you mentioned on Discord how fun it would be to see Dom paint for the first time. So, we made it happen 🥳. He had never painted in any medium before, and we worked on a painting of a little wren together. In case you missed it, we uploaded the video on YouTube.

Dom painted really well, but one aspect stood out to me – his hesitancy with the brush due to a lack of good brush control. It became clear to me that brush control is a skill that develops with practice, and I realised that, having painted for so long, I often take this ability for granted.

So, at the moment I'm working on a tutorial that delves into fundamental brush techniques. These techniques are essential for gaining better brush control, a skill often overlooked by experienced artists. The tutorial aims to bridge this gap, offering tips and exercises to help beginners refine their brush control. I hope it will help you if you are just starting out. I’ll post it when it’s ready.

Many of you asked me if I'd post a tutorial of the three goldfish that I painted a few months ago. I'm happy to let you know that I painted another one and filmed it all so I'm making a tutorial of this painting below.

~~~~~
I also have this black cockatoo tutorial that I'm working on.
~~~~~

This colourful Eastern Rosella below will also be a tutorial.

I have a long list of subjects that patrons have suggested to me. I'll keep working my way through those that I can.

Thank you Louise for taking the time to add the tutorial re: brush control... I understand that nothing beats clocking up practise mileage... However, it's so really good of you to turn around and come back to the starting line for the likes of moi when you are so far along the watercolour trail... 💗✨🙏

Janet

Good stuff coming our way! I love everything you do; do you think there are any flowers in the future? I absolutely love the way you do them...

Louise De Masi

My pleasure Cheryle. I hope it will be helpful to you. 💕

Louise De Masi

Thank you Janet. Yes definitely. I love painting them. I'll get some more painted as soon as I can.

I love all the color! And I am looking forward to your brush control tutorial because I am realizing that it is my weak point.

Mariansuecave

I can hardly put into words how happy I am that I found you are teaching exercises! I was working on the rooster, and decided that it was a bit beyond my ability! So… I have begun again honing my skills. Thank you, thank you thank you :-)

I love your tutorials and have benefited from them to the degree that I am selling prints of my own. Because of this I can no longer use your paintings. I have been trying for over Two years to cancel my “subscription “ but without any luck. Please help me

Louise De Masi

Thanks Terri. It will give you some exercises to practice.

Louise De Masi

You are very welcome! I hope they will help you. 💝

Hello. I’m Laramazz…a brand new member. Can anyone tell me what’s the group name on Discord? I’m already a member on Discord, so I just need the # address to join the group chat. I have connected Patreon to Discord. Thank you, and I hope everyone has a nice day!

Louise De Masi

Thank you Sue. It was good to see him paint because it reminded me of how a beginner painter might struggle right at the start.

Louise De Masi

Hi LaraMazz, Dom here. I can see you in the server. You should see Louise's server in the left hand server menu (Guinea Fowl icon). Click on that icon and you'll see all the channels. :-)

LaraMazz

Yes, I’m in . Thanks,Dom🦋

Hi Louise I'm loving your tutorials & have learned so much from you. Now I'm looking to do some Christmas paintings of poinsettia, I'm have trouble getting the deep red I love in the blooms do you have any suggestions for me?

Louise De Masi

Hi Anita, That's really good to know, thank you! If you are using warm reds try Cadmium red or Winsor red. If you are using cool reds try Winsor red deep or Permanent Alizarin Crimson.

Delta Daiz

Hi Louise. I am really enjoying your tutorials and learning so much. Just recently, I haven’t been able to stream videos to my TV where I can see better. I’m not having any trouble streaming videos from my other patreon memberships. Do you have any suggestions?

Louise De Masi

Hi Terisa, Dom here. I'm not sure if I'll be able to help with this but can you tell me how you normally share to a TV? Are you using an iPad and have an Apple TV? I'm all in with the Apple infrastructure at home but I'd need to know more about your set up.

Delta Daiz

Hi Dom. I have an iphone and share to my Apple TV. Normally, I can enlarge the video screen on my phone..ant then I’m able to see the share button at the right bottom of the screen..which gives me the option to stream to my Apple TV. I am able to do that still, but only the sound is streaming and not the video. Any help would be wonderful. Thank you.

Louise De Masi

Hi Terisa. I'm not sure why the share button isn't visible but a work around might be to swipe down from the top right of the iPhone screen (to go into the actions? screen) and select screen mirror to your Apple TV. Try that and let me know how you go.

Delta Daiz

The share icon is there..but audio plays to the tv without picture. My other Patreon subscriptions are playing correctly. Hopefully it’s just a glitch and will work itself out.
