Hey Patrons,

It's time for a chat! In this Patron Show I give some updates on our current post-production slate including Hades 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Everbloom and announcing a new project.

But the meat of this episode is about my feelings as we approach the 10th Anniversary. My dreams to focus on classic games voted by our patrons, a second podcast, the tapes and more. It's a long one, but here are the general chapters.

Thank you, as ever, for your incredible support.

Gonna watch in a while after I finish work, but just gotta say... 10 years? Blimey! I think I joined day 1 🫨

Day 1 here too! I would love to see a doc on the endearing love the Broken Sword series gets. Revolution have done some great docs covering the series development but I would love to see/hear something that focused on the community which continues to thrive decades after those games first came out.

Mark van Dijken

only halfway through, but I just reached the part where you are talking about great older games and their community and and something just came to mind that I would love to see covered: The Morrowind modding community! people are out there completely re-implementing the morrowind engine (OpenMW) to the point where it is now arguably better than the real thing. and also the Tamriel Rebuild team which have now for 2 decades been at work to build the entire morrowind map mainland map. Truly crazy achievements.

It’s really cool that the two channels are becoming more defined over time. Throwing my hat in the ring for an MDK doc. This work is so admirable and genuinely important, and to me that’s a huge part of your success (apart from your tireless work)! 10 more years!

Looking forward to plus ten years of contemporary game documentaries and the opportunity to vote on which docs; with or without racoon hair!!

Regarding your ideas about moving the 'now or future' games content and discussion to noclip 2, that makes sense. For noclip I see your logic about making a podcast that focuses on old games and preservation, frequency maybe every two weeks would be a ideal starting point or even once a month. Depends how much preparation time you need I guess. You could give patreons the opportunity to pose questions specifically about old games. You could pick a random year each podcast and debate a game or games that came out within that time period. Just some ideas to add to your inner musing

Ross

I'm honestly pretty content with the two patreons? They're very different, I can imagine plenty of people who prefer one vibe versus another. Though yes, a Patreon royalty free website would be nice for the hardcore fans who want to put in that effort! But I don't think you can get rid of Patreon without risking losing tons of backers

Mike

The dual podcast idea sounds great. The weekly show definitely feels like it perfectly fits on 2 & something more ‘produced’ like Dear Dwyery or the early pods deserve their own space on /noclip. Personally I wouldn’t worry about the frequency of those either - if you can put one out monthly that would be plenty but I’d rather you take the time to get them right. A Life Well Wasted definitively proves schedules are overrated…

Hey_McG

The use of 'Lock Down' was a GB nostalgia blast for sure

Apologies for the late reply but on your mention of sites that gamify using them like Giant Bomb back in the day, I wanted to bring up Infinite Backlog. https://infinitebacklog.net/ Its like a more complex version of Backloggd, been on it for about a year and it's been great. They've done collaborations with Retro Achevmetns recently so they might be open to share knowledge or resources for whatever the eventual home for Noclip will be.
