Hi! I was hoping for just one episode of Heartstopper today, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you're doing three episodes! I love your reactions. Heartstopper was such a huge success, because of how the story was told. The charactors always communicated. In a lot of other shows the conflicts are usually draged out over several epsiodes. E.g. in ep 5, Nick told Charlie immediately the truth about his date with Imogen. When Heartstopper came out, it shot the actors who play Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) into overnight stardom, just like those gay hockey players. Unfortunately, during all their success, the 'gay police' came out of the woodwork and demanded to know Kit and Joe's sexualities. Just like with Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, Kit later felt pressured to come out as bisexual after he turned 18. Joe has never officially come out, but he is openly gay. I'm always conlicted with the demand of the 'gay police' that only gay actors are allowed to play gay character. I rather see a belivable performance of a straight actor then a bad performance of a queer actor, just because they are queer. In addition, it would even be against laws to ask an actor if they are queer. And what will be the next step? Only real life wife beaters are allowed to play one or real life murderers...and so on!?

I think most of us, regardless of gender/sexual identity, would love to have a partner like Nick.

I think Nick agrees with Tao at the bowling alley because he feels guilty. It started after the rugby match and keeps growing. Another one of the contrasts with Ben, Nick feels bad about asking him to keep it a secret where Ben expected it.

I think the acting in this show is brilliant, especially from Kit and Joe who play Nick and Charlie. Just in case you're not aware, in real life, Kit is bisexual and Joe is gay. Kit was basically forced to come out before he was ready as so called fans were calling him out for playing an LGBTQ+ character when he's straight. He tends to stay away from social media now because of that and only has an official Instagram account. Both actors are incredibly talented and have now starred in Broadway shows as well as a Marvel series, (Joe) and many movies since the start of Heartstopper 💜

Nick's hug at 16:28 tells Charlie 2 separate things: (1) I'm absolutely NOT messing with you like Tao implies, and (2) thanks for not outing me to Tao, esp. since that would've made your defense much easier. And it's totally normal to have Imogen Confusion Syndrome. It's gonna be a good while.

What I like about this show, is the fact that in every episode there is a conflict but also there is a resolution. All characters have emotional maturity to communicate clearly what and how they feel. It doesn’t need any “made up drama”. Being queer teenager is hard enough. Especially Nick. It is kind of refreshing to see on your screen.🐸 ♥️

Thank you so much for your kind words and for being here! This series has been so fun so far :) I knew Joe was gay from the press tour of Agatha All Along (a show that I absolutely love him in) but actually had no idea about Kit's sexuality. Everyone feels so entitled to everything nowadays, to the point where they just suck the life and joy out of another human being for some feelings of self-righteousness and it's just disturbing behavior!!

Yes, I am so very proud of you Dylan cuz you are for sure helping me to cement all these characters straight in my head and even though you claim to have a weakness for names never once had to 2nd guess my own memory with you to lean on so reliably. Loving how many times my debbie downer instincts on the direction these storylines are going is turning out to be wrong, show is finding lots of cozy subtle ways to subvert expectations not just for the sake of it but for sparks ⚡️

Okay now i’m back home from work to finish watching these reactions. This is of my fav episodes, the amount of emotional honesty and maturity is actually beautiful. Also, did you notice the lighting? 👀 bisexual lighting in the bowling scene, rainbow lighting during the kiss at the arcade… the production team really had a lot of fun sprinkling things like that in! I’m so grateful Alice Oseman decided to make this - she wrote/drew the og graphic novels and is also the creator of the show. Alice is openly aromantic and asexual (like me!) and wanted to create new types of representation that have really not been shown enough in media. This whole show is so refreshing and was so needed when it came out. I’m really glad you’re enjoying your time with these characters so far, excited to see what you think of the rest of the season :)

Nick is 100% pure of heart. He literally has not a single mean bone, Is refreshing to ge a story this sweet where characters actually process their feelings, they are not perfect with all the answers but they are willing to learn and grow. I’ve seen my share of depressing gay media and I understand that the older we get the more cynical we get, perhaps that is why this show is so good, they are young and still have hope. Makes even my stone cold heart feel warm 🤣

Could you add subtitles in future episodes? I had to watch this on Demsael's Patreon channel, or I would have missed too much of the dialog. Reactions are free after one month on Demsael. (Not sure if that applies to all reactions.) Thanks!

I agree with the subs bc sometimes is hard to understand British accent but no to reactors making their content free after a month. Not sure who Demsael is but that structure of releasing content is unique to him I guess'. I don’t know any reactor that does that.

most conflicts are resolved by the end of the next episode. This is mostly because Nick is willing to have the difficult conversations.

Charlie, Tao and Isaac are the same age. Nick, Elle, Tara, and Darcy are a year older. So Nick would have been in the same year as Elle before she transfered to Higgs.
