THE CITY OF TOWNSVILLE…is the setting of the movie that this review will look into, The Powerpuff Girls Movie. The original series is one of the most beloved shows on Cartoon Network, and one of the very few that go to have their own feature film. However, in this review, there is a chance that we’ll see how the movie may not be as mighty as The Powerpuff Girls’ powers.

I seriously disagree with you on the quality of the movie. I have sat through multiple screenings and been THRILLED! It embodies a lot of what I love about the Girls in a tight movie package. Yes, the movie could have done better than it did at the box office, but that's Warner's fault for dropping the distribution ball.

I’ll be honest, back when I was I kid, I never really got much into the original Powerpuff Girls series and didn’t really watch it growing up, mainly because growing up I didn’t really watch much of Cartoon Network, also considering I’m someone who was born in the tail end of the 90s and grew up in the 2000s when the original show was airing, I was a much bigger fan of and a lot more into the animated series that were airing on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon at that time, it wasn’t until I was a little bit older and watched some episodes on Boomerang and I did enjoy them and I can see why this became a fan favorite show and if I had grown up more with Cartoon Network I probably would’ve gotten into it. Now as for the movie, personally I do think this movie is just ok, not great but there are still some things to enjoy about, I will agree that the story is a bit all over the place and even the characters aren’t handled the best either, and the movie does have a lot of interesting ideas that are sometimes poorly executed, but I do think there are some things to like as well, they do at least try to keep the characters true to how they are in the series, the action scenes can be fun, the voice acting is solid, it does have a good amount of heart, and Mojo Jojo is by far the best character in the movie, overall I think this movie is just ok, that I imagine some fans of the show will enjoy. Although one thing I can say is that this movie could’ve been worse and it’s not the worst thing to come out of this franchise, at least it’s not as bad as the 2016 reboot, which is a disgrace to the original series, or it could’ve been worse, at least it’s not as bad as that leaked script for the pilot of that now scrapped live action Powerpuff Girls series that the CW wanted to develop, seriously that script was so bad that The CW tried everything to try to rewrite that script, but it didn’t work out and that series ultimately ended up getting scrapped, so needless to say there are way worse things that have come out of this franchise. So the next classic review is going to be on a Disney sequel, but I’m not sure which one so we’ll see.

Technically the relationship bit with the girls and Mojo was already explored into the show itself and that probably would have been reconned if it was explored in the movie. And I really don’t know which movie is the next review.

When it comes to The Powerpuff Girls Movie, I seen it Cartoon Network as a kid as a Cartoon Network fan but I didn’t know it had a rare theatrical release until years when I find out about it. I think had the original series as amongst my favorite shows to watch from Cartoon Network as it was fun, exciting, and intense at the same time. For this movie given how popular the series was, I do believe this is Warner Bros and Cartoon Network attempt to compete against Paramount and Nickelodeon at the time to see if this movie can be hit so it can deliver more movie adaptations from many Cartoon Network on to the big screen like what Paramount and Nickelodeon still doing to this day. Unfortunately, knowing that it was flop and received okay reviews from critics, it did end up putting a stop to see any Cartoon Network shows being adapted to the big screen. I think Regular Show movie was closest in getting a theatrical release in a few theaters around Los Angeles from what I heard but that pretty much it. For this movie, I think do agree about what works and doesn’t work for this film. For what works, the decent animation, action scenes including towards the end, voice acting, the attempted heart, and some characters like Mojo Jojo being enjoyable. I also of agree that Roger L Jackson is the highlight of the whole movie given that he is good at being that threaten villain like Mojo and even the voice Ghost Face in the Scream movies for that are horror fans. For what doesn’t work, the movie being too short, the inconsistence tone of trying to be fun and dark, the pacing issues, weak writing as this does comes off as a generic superhero film on top of being a prequel film if you take away the Powerpuff Girls element, and some characters issues that should’ve handled better. I did had fun with it as a fan of the series, but not really strong as a movie itself. I would give it the same grade like you did with just a 6/10 and nothing else. By the way, I have no idea that Aqua Teen Hunger Force makes a cameo in a Powerpuff Girls Movie after all these years and this is from someone that watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force before. As for the next one, Kronk’s New Groove, oh boy we are going for a rough ride Disney sequel are we? All I can say is that it better be entertaining bad review to get through this.

From Craig McCracken's Tumblr feed, posted 4/24/2016: "When we started the film I was encouraged by CN to make the movie for '25-year-old guys.' So we upped the seriousness and action and downplayed the funny. By the time we finished there was a regime change at CN and the new heads of the Network were upset we didn’t make a poppy, colorful kids movie. This is why I stay in TV and avoid features, too many politics in movies."

Your rating matches my thoughts on the movie; nothing bad, but nothing really to write home about, either.
