I had to change my plans a little bit, but I was able to make it all work. Because I had a few things scheduled during the week and Inside Out 2 was coming out so that I have to prepare for that review, I kind of took a break from making videos and focused on other stuff that's around my work in order to keep me busy until the new movie comes out, and to take care of some other parts of my job like my podcast and doing the rewards for some Patrons. In the end, I was able to make the timing of it all work in my favor without going too hard on myself. As I'm working on the next review, I look back at the week and feel happy with what I've accomplished. Anyways, here are the details of what I did.

  • Released my review of The Powerpuff Girls Movie: Even though I was a fan of the original series as a kid, this is my first time experiencing the movie. And now that I finally got a chance to see it...it was okay. I wouldn't consider it the Girls' strongest moment, but I've seen worse movies based on TV shows. I get the direction that it wants to go with by making it a prequel and present the origin story of the first time they saved the city of Townsville, but there's no sense of a real direction of pacing and tone. It keeps flip-flopping from being a more serious and a little gritty superhero feature showing the struggle of the Girls showing how their powers can be used for good, and the fun-filled wacky cartoon with kickass action that the series can be. I'll admit that it did manage to salvage itself with an awesome climax that highlights what we love from The Powerpuff Girls, but I feel like I got more from some of the episodes of the show than I did with the feature itself. Anyways, now that I'm officially done with that one, I'll be moving on to an interesting sequel named Kronk's New Groove. It's honestly been a while since I've seen this one, but as someone who loves The Emperor's New Groove, I got a feeling that this will give me a lot of materials to make a memorable review.

  • Worked on a couple of Artwork: Instead of jumping straight into the next review as I await for Inside Out 2, it was actually time for me to get back into drawing. There was one commission that I received, but before I did that one, there was something in my mind that I wanted to do both as a personal warm up to get me back into making art, and have a tribute to a recent event. I don't think I've done this before (at least, one that wasn't for a commission), but I decided to do a little tribute to the passing of Richard Sherman. It's just a cute little idea to see Richard reunited with his brother Robert and Walt Disney, and the first thing they'd do is play Walt's favorite song they wrote. As for the commission that I did, I was asked to draw the main characters of Future Boy Conan and Castle in the Sky, since they're both pre/early Studio Ghibli projects that have similar protagonists. I thought it would be challenging to recreate the Ghibli style, but I'm actually pretty happy with the result that I made. In a way, it was like a break from my work by doing other work, but at least these two pieces do give me confidence that I still got my skills intact. I'll be presenting these publicly next week.

  • Currently working on my review of Inside Out 2: Technically, out of all the animated movies from this year, Inside Out 2 is my most anticipated. While I'm not insanely hyped up for it, I am optimistic about it. I was able to watch the first movie the day before as a refresher and I still love it as much as the first time I saw it. The original really is a masterpiece and it will be very difficult for the second to follow up on that. However, it seems to already be getting a lot of love from critics and the first time an animated movie from Disney is getting that kind of love since Turning Red over 2 years ago. Will the sequel match up to what its predecessor did? That's what I'm currently trying to find out and will have my version of the answer ready for you all next week.

And that was my week with managing my time and taking care of errands outside of my videos before getting back to it with Inside Out 2. Now that I'm back reviewing, I know there will be a bunch of movies prepared for me to look into. First, I'll need to sort out my emotions, and then I'll be looking into the kaijus and the spinach puffs. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

Love the tribute artwork you did in memory of the passing of Richard Sherman. Reminds me of the tribute drawing I did for the passing of Alan Young 7 years ago that I sent you in What’s in the Box?. I wonder what songs Richard and Robert are composing for the LORD up in Heaven.
