Pixar said that they are taking a big risk with Inside Out 2. After the flop of Lightyear and the bad opening weekend of Elemental, this is their big test to see if they still got that magic and if people still want to see Pixar movies. In this emotional review, I’ll present why I think the studio can put their anxiety at ease, because Inside Out 2 still has that charm, even when making a sequel like this.

The First Animat’s Seal of Approval of 2024! I’m just really happy that you gave it to Inside Out 2 just like you did with the first film and that Pixar is starting to get back to their roots.

I absolutely love the first Inside Out and consider it one of my favorite Pixar films, as for the sequel, while I will agree it’s a slight downgrade compared to the original, it’s still really close and more than a worthy follow-up to the original. The story is really well done and does a great job expanding the world of the original, the animation is absolutely gorgeous and even elevated compared to the original, and the characters, both old and new are great, rather it be the recurring characters still being as great as they were in the first movie or the new characters being great new additions to this movie. So overall, this is a fantastic sequel, and a worthy successor to the original. And it’s just really awesome to see that this is the first time since Frozen 2 that Disney finally has an animated film that became a hit, especially with how they have been struggling with their animated films financially ever since the pandemic, on top of that, considering how the box office has been struggling this year, it’s great to see that Inside Out 2 came in to help things out, on top of Disney in general being a big help for movie theaters, considering Deadpool and Wolverine could get at least a $200 million opening domestically, which is nice to see especially after how much Disney struggled last year. However I am still hoping we will still see original films come out of Pixar and that next year Elio will find a way to become a hit, so that way we can see both Pixar make great original films from them and not just sequels from them and Disney Animation, considering Pixar does have Toy Story 5 coming in a couple years, and Disney Animated has both Zootopia 2 and Frozen 3 and 4, so I really do hope for the best for them.

To be honest, I think it might be Pixar’s strongest sequel that isn’t related to Toy Story. When it comes to the original, I didn’t see it in theaters at the time because I was busy returning home to my home state in NC with my mom after staying in Maryland for one year. I been hearing so much praise and getting numerous accolades back and forth including getting an Oscar for Best Animated Feature to the point that I have to check it out at some point. It wasn’t until a few years later when I watched it on Plex, a streaming service by the way, and yeah I definitely do get all that praise now and it looked absolutely fantastic. A bit complex but it was fantastic nonetheless. For the sequel, I have a bit of worrying in how the sequel looked like and whether it box office performance would save Pixar to be back on to box office glory given that pandemic really affected them. From three original films being sent to Disney+, to Lightyear being a box office bomb after returning to theaters, and with Elemental debut at the worst box office opening weekend since the original Toy Story film despite went on to become a sleeper hit. This is not mentioned being layoff twice done by Disney which left me even worry for Pixar in how this sequel chances in connected with its viewers. Now that I seen it, I’ll say now that while is nowhere near as fantastic as the original film, I do feel like this is a great sequel. The rehash of the original and not much creative of the writing is what took some points away for me but the animation, characters even though some gets less screen time a few times, voice acting, humor, themes, world building, directing, and the heart were all great in terms of what made the original beloved after these years. I think this is best non Toy Story sequel that have done more so than Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory so I’ll probably take this over than some of the sequels that Pixar has done. I’ll give it an 8/10. I’m also very happy of how it performing at the box office as it’ll likely make a billion dollars if it keeps this up as it is biggest movie of the summer so far before Deadpool and Wolverine steps in to make even more numbers. I just hope Pixar can celebrate that this moment right now with this sequel’s success.

Saw it on Father’s Day with my older brother and the theater was packed with a lot of families, so that and hearing how this film broke a million dollars in its opening weekend makes me glad to see this film doing financially well and that families are actually taking their kids to the theater to see it rather than waiting for the film to be released on Disney+. It feels good seeing people seeing a Pixar film again in theaters like the days before the pandemic and Disney+. As for my thoughts on the film, I definitely think it’s a worthy successor to the original and does it great honor. Loved the expansion of Riley’s mind and the new ideas presented, most of them probably being unused concepts from the first film, like the Stream of Consciousness, Sar-casm and Brain Storm, and the new emotions. I definitely related to Anxiety and have felt certain scenarios when said emotion would take full control of my mind before in parts of life. Glad to have gotten to seen the film in theaters and to support Pixar in doing so.

Well I felt a little mild that it didn't reach the top, but that's okay I'm glad it still reached to be Pixar's best films. In fact it's something you can laugh and think! As someone who can get Anxiety like myself, I never really thought it can be as troubling as much then being to ambitious to things to go your way. And Pixar would succeed in making a full feature film about that. I never had doubt on it!

I’m glad you loved the movie, but 15:32-15:34 upsets me. I don’t understand self-deprecating humor, and don’t like when other people put themselves down.

Lady Tyler Bio Rodriguez

It works as a sequel concept unlike other Pixar sequels. Sure it won't be as good, but I'm glad its still worthwhile.
