Update Blog- 2/11/23 (Patreon)

I love what I do, and I got some fun content planned and ready to be released soon, but it's not every day when I work on something with the feeling that this is going to be very special. I'm staying true to my own promise that I'm making more history videos (outside of Animation Lookback) and it's feeling like I've returned to an old friend that I've neglected for far too long. There have been some other stuff that happened today too, but here's what I did during the week.

- Released my review of Cars: I've already reviewed all the sequels when they were released, so I guess it was inevitable that I get to talk about the first movie. Honestly, I've never been that big of a Cars fan and, after watching this, I find that this movie is...fine. It's not a bad film at all and it still holds itself decently well on its own, but compared to the other Pixar works, this one is amongst their weaker ones (I'd even say the same with the 2nd and 3rd). I will say though that I was surprised that I did genuinely like some parts like Mater was actually enjoyable and Doc's story was undeniably fascinating, but the rest feels more like a relatively safe feature that doesn't push any boundaries storywise or even emotionally. I know it has its prominent fanbase, but my favorite things from the franchise are not the movies. However, the next movie to review is anything but safe, as I'll be looking into Ralph Bakshi's controversially fascinating feature, Coonskin. I'll give you this warning now. Just like the movie, I won't hold back either in terms of going in the realms of taboo subjects.

- Finished working on the Series Review: As this was in production while I was in the middle of life telling me to do other things, I did manage to get this one ready earlier in the week. Admittedly, I was going through a bit of stress in regards to time management and often feeling like there's not enough time for me to do everything I need. This week, however, I've calmed down from that mindset and once I had things cool in my head, I did one more big push on the review and got it complete so that It'll be ready to be out soon. I'll say now that this is going to be a bit different than some of my previous series reviews, but I am also partly experimenting to see how people would respond and how making this style of review can help me save some time to work on other projects that require some extra work to become even more special than before.

- Working on the next History video: It's been such a long time since I've made a one-off history video. I think the last time was last year with the Lady Dimitrescu video, and that one had a bit of a different format than what I usually do. This time however, I'm back in front of the green screen to talk about a piece of animation history. With this one, it's only in regards to a small event that not many know about, but this really took my researching skills to the next level to figure out the accuracies of this story and the origins of the tale. So far, the writing is already complete and I've even got the filming done. Now all that's left is to get this all together in the editing and this will be all set for (in clickbait terms) the craziest story you've never heard of. I'm really excited to show you what I got with this one and it feels so good to be making this kind of content again!

- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Thursday the 16th and both at 8pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat.

And that is the story of my week. It honestly is very relieving to stop worrying about not having enough time and putting my focus on a video that I'm very passionate about. It's gonna get better from here, so keep an eye out for my videos because they will be among my most unforgettable ones yet. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!
