Let the Summer party begin! While the season hasn't technically started yet, the weather and the blockbusters are already here to bring us to a new chapter of the year (and what good timing too as we also start a new month). What this means for me is that I not only get to enjoy more of the outdoors with some nice heat and fresh air, but this is where I begin my big round of reviewing new major movies, starting with Disney's latest live-action remake. On top of that, here's what else I've done throughout the week.

- Released my review of The Little Mermaid (2023): This movie is not worth giving great praise or massive hate. As is, it's okay, and by Disney live-action remakes standards, this is among their better ones. While there are some of the same issues that arose like the bag CG and poor interpretations of familiar characters, there are some things I was surprised that it not only worked, but kind of saved the movie for me. Yes, Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy did well with their roles, but Prince Eric and the romance were some of the best things in this movie that even got me engaged with the picture. But of course, what is the standout moment of the review is calling out the anti-woke personalities whom for years attacked this movie for their own racist purpose. I won't like that it was a frustrating time to make that part and grabbing those clips of the incels eagerly wanting to say the N-word towards Bailey, but I knew it was something that needed to be said and to call out that anyone with a hatred for anything that's "woke" is racist, and should be treated like the criminals that they all are. Will this get me in trouble? Maybe, but better to let it out than to keep those emotions bottled and not do anything while they spread their hate speech. But back to the movie, it's not among the best films of the year, but it's okay.

- Working on Animation Lookback: The Muppets Part 6: During the free time I had between movies and other errands to take care of, I made some progress on the next part. I wouldn't say that I did so much and a big portion of the production is done, but I still got it a bit more ahead than it was at the start of the week. The most that I did was I completed the script with new additions from the fact checkers, I did all of the voiceovers and started some of the editing where I'm putting the pieces together. The only thing I haven't done yet before fully diving into editing was film the shots with Puppet AniMat, which he will be prominently featured in this one. This would've been intimidating what I've set up for myself before with that, but with the tactics I've learned from last time, I think I know what to do to make it an easy process. However, I'll be saving that for after the review I"m working on now. This is mainly to say that the part is still going well and I'm ready to bring this to life.

- Currently Working on my review of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: With The Super Mario Bros. Movie out of the way, it's time we jump into the next most anticipated animated feature, Across the Spider-Verse. I've definitely prepared myself for this movie, even rewatching the first film to grab all the context I need (also, I will confess that I think I have more of an understanding of this picture than I did the first time I saw it. Guess I was overwhelmed by all the crazy new tricks it pulled off). From the first reactions, it seems like lightning struck twice and this is a worthy successor, but that's still a difficult task to pull off. I'm eagerly awaiting to see if this does meet those near-impossibly high standards, but that's what I'm doing now with the review I'm working on and have it be ready for next week.

So that is my week of new movies and moving forward with the next big video. Luckily, I'll have a break before Elemental comes, but for now, let's have some fun while the sun is still hot. Oh, and before I forget, happy Pride Month everybody! To all my LGBTQIA2+ peeps, never forget to stay true to who you are and be proud of it. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

Its far from the worst Disney remake and probably the best of the Big 4 of the Renaissance for what its worth.

I will say I learned something new thanks to this Update Blog, specifically the term “Two Spirit”. Thanks!

Contrary to what a select minority of people would assume, I think you are actively striving for a happy medium where the entertainment aspect of your content is not overshadowed by the topical subject matter.

I wouldn’t blame you for letting all those emotions out during your review of the little mermaid remake Animat. I am that kind of person Who cannot tolerate racial discrimination and it really made me angry that people were just accusing this movie of being woke because there was a black Ariel.

I know I'm a bit late in the game, but there was another so-called controversy that was similar to that of the backlash Halle Bailey got for being casted as Ariel pre-release. Melissa McCarthy did an awesome job, I will definitely agree, but there was some people calling out her casting choice as well since they would have rathered Ursula be played by a trans person (seeing that Ursula was partly inspired by the trans singer Divine, according to animator Ruben Aquino). Then again, Disney's whole public relations nightmare when it comes to LGBT+ representation right now does kinda make McCarthy's casting choice all the more justified, if you ask me XD
