I never thought I’d see the day, but I present to you my review of the movie that was once thought to be lost, Nimona. It was originally a film by Blue Sky Studios, but was lost after the studio shut down in 2021. Thankfully, Annapurna Pictures saved it from its doom and now Nimona has arrived to become the next best toon on Netflix.

something tells me that I’m gonna love this movie to pieces, yet also still consider it Blue Sky’s second best movie besides Peanuts

I’m not gonna lie, I am extremely jealous that you got to see this movie early, but once it hits Netflix on Friday, I’m definitely gonna give it a watch. The fact that Annapurna Pictures was able to save this movie after Blue Sky shut down is such an achievement, and this definitely seems like it’s going to be a fantastic send off for Blue Sky, and help people remember the studio. And I can definitely imagine a lot of people considering this as one of their favorite animated films of the year, almost on par with Across the Spider-Verse.

Great send off for Blue Sky and a great movie for representation. I hope this movie becomes an Oscar contender for one last hurrah for Blue Sky.

If what people said is true including you Mat since you seen it in early screenings, then I’ll definitely looking forward to watching it when it comes out on Friday because this feel’s definitely a true send off from Blue Sky Studios with Annapurna Pictures helping in to save this movie. Can’t wait to watch it!

Just like with Vivo before, I’m glad another animation studio and Netflix were able to pick up another animated film that was close to never coming to fruition and give it a second chance. As sad as we still are for Blue Sky’s shutdown and the lost potential they had, we’re all glad they could end on a high note. With both this and Vivo getting revived and put on Netflix, I only wish more animated films can be picked up by other studios after the studio they were developed at gets tossed out due to downsizing and financial troubles and revived and put on Netflix.

I've always disliked the expectation that modern media HAVE to have some kind of LGBTQ2S+, minority, or racially different reference or character. I have seen many projects get bad reviews simply because they are supposedly 'not diverse enough'. But after hearing about this movie, where this is the in forefront, my confidence has changed. I think movies like this are simply great, where the idea is not forced onto the project because they 'HAVE to do it', but because it is simply a part of the story that proudly shows its diversity and makes it a moral of the story. The public should take a leaf out of AnnaPurna Pictures' book and realize that addressing things like race and LGBTQ2S+ people instead of FORCING them onto everything is better for everyone

I knew you were gonna give it the AniMat Seal of Approval.
