The North American-specific holidays have begun, and today, we are partying the day of my nation! Honestly, I don't really care all that much, but if it's an excuse to have a summer party, then I'll take it. And I think I'll need one too because I've been doing a good amount of work this week. I'm still continuing my big round of making reviews, but I believe I've officially crossed the halfway point and will have them complete soon. For now, I'm happy of the work I've done, including getting a Netflix review released at the same time as the movie itself.
- Released my review of Nimona: At first it was a wild ride that was close to getting annoying, but by the end, I think this movie will have to compete with Across the Spider-Verse to be my favorite movie of the year. I am so glad that Annapurna Pictures saved this movie from becoming lost media because this was absolutely beautiful. I love how deep the story goes, I love the dynamic of the characters like with Ballister and Nimona, I love the LGBTQ+ commentary, I love the stylized animation, I love almost everything in this movie. It's funny to mention that as much as this movie was very hyped, I saw a few people who were crazy for me to review this movie and even was checking around my area if an early screening of the film is possible. I'll admit that it's a little creepy and that behavior is going a bit too close to my personal space, but at least I became aware that doing an early review of this is possible. Again, it's a wonderful movie and as living mantra that Blue Sky never dies.
- Worked on the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: As I started from last week, the main thing I was able to do was complete one of the upcoming ACRs. While it is a requested one, this will also be fun to look into what some consider as a fan favorite and that it ties in with having a significant landmark this year. My time was occupied with other things to do, I do feel more relieved that this is another review complete from my list. As for the one after that which I picked from the Animation Hat, I only started with developing the intro. I've yet to watch the film and get that review rolling because there's another film now that needs my attention. That's why I'll get to work on that one by next week. But for now, the progress is going pretty well.
- Added New Merch in AniMat's Gift Shop: In between all of this, I managed to squeeze in some time to do something I've never done in a long time. I added some new merch in AniMat's Gift Shop. It was something that was in my head for a bit, including some new ideas for designs to sell, so I decided to might as well finally take care of that and put those new stuff up, including the new EDP logo, and a 'Let's Find Out' design. You are the first to know about this and you can go in the shop to buy them now. On top of that, I have a promo code ready called AniMat20 that will happen throughout July so you could save 20% on whatever you buy that you can use now. If you wanna see the new stuff I have in store, then go to https://animats-gift-shop.creator-spring.com.
- Currently Working on my review of Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken: Believe it or not, on top of the screening I had of Nimona, I also got a chance to watch Ruby Gillman early too. However, as crazy as it may sound, I declined it because there wasn't a need for it anymore thanks to Nimona. That and on the day of its screening, I had a day out with my friends, so decided to spend some quality time with them and have that day off instead. But I was still able to watch it this week and I still have a bit more work to have this prepared for next week. Chances are, I'm not expecting this to be on the same levels of what DreamWorks delivered last year. But is this movie still worth it? That's what I'm looking into right now.
So that was my week of more reviews and some new stuff. Now that we've officially crossed the halfway point of this year, let's take some time to enjoy the heat of summer before we get back to getting through the 2nd half and making our 2023 something worthwhile. I know I'm looking forward to what lies ahead. I've made some personal great progress and I'm ready to keep it going. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
