It's official, with this new month, I've been busier than ever. It started out with the early screening with Trolls Band Together last week and now comes the hoard of movies and projects that I'll have to work on until the new year. I will admit, it's overwhelming so far with how many videos need to be produced, but I'm just taking it one step at a time to make sure that all my responsibilities can be taken care of efficiently and not give myself a burnout along the way. The good news is that not only have I got a few of them done so far, but I've made a bit of updates to when these videos will be coming out. With that said, here's how my week has been.
- Released my review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence: It's been many years since I've fully watched this movie. Last time, it was for the Top 10 Best Animated Sequels over a decade ago. And now that I've returned with a fresh perspective...let's just say that if I would remake this list now, it would not be in consideration. I'll give it that there are some good things about it like the animation is undeniably fantastic. However, the fact that it doubled-down on the philosophy aspect and constantly speaking in riddles makes the feature too complicated for its own good. I'll accept if maybe that's just me and that there are those with stronger philosophy knowledge who would love this, but I'll just say that I feel like it makes sense as to why it doesn't get as much attention as the first movie. There were some ways to make this a very strong feature and to make the metaphors more clear for everyone, but this might've been too ambitious with what it was trying to do. At least for the next review, we can dumb things down with another Japanese animated feature, and one that I am quite familiar with, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie. I've seen this one many times in the past, but I guess it's just a matter of time that I check it out again to analyze it.
- Created my review of Under the Boardwalk: The main thing that was done for this week was that I got another review completed for later this month, and that is Under the Boardwalk, the movie that Paramount is desperately trying to hide from the public. I will say that from that basis alone, it will be interesting to look at what is it that they're trying to hide (although I might have an idea with Russell Brand previously announced in the cast) and you bet that I'll be bringing that up throughout the review. However, this does make me realize that this will be the first of a few movies coming up to make my critique that will be a musical, thus also talking about the songs and adding that extra to work on with them (Okay, need to not think that way or else I'll end up overwhelming myself). Anyways, this is turning out to be a real fun video to work on and maybe this could be great enough to gather more attention than the movie itself. Can't wait to show you what I got with this one.
- Started the next ACR and reworking the video schedule: As I was finishing up the Under the Boardwalk review, I realized that I needed to rethink my schedule and switch things around for when the videos will be released without projects overlapping one another and for me to not become overworked (Like how Leo and Wish are being released close together, so I'll figure out how to make that work for my reviews). That's why I had to change around some of my priorities so that I can create my videos in order and know when it's best to put them out. I know that I previously said that there will be some weeks where I'll be putting out two videos, but I think there will only be one week during this month that it will happen and most of December will have that double feature. I'll confess that the task in front of me is still daunting, but at least I got things in order now. As you're reading this, with Under the Boardwalk and a few others out of the way, what I'm working on now is actually the next ACR. That is so far the next video I have to create that's not a new release, so I'll have that set up for next month and be ready for what's coming next.
- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Tuesday the 14th at 8pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat at a different time.
So that's been my week of continuing to go through a tremendous amount of reviews. I'm still keeping at it, but I am happy that there are some I'm getting done so far and that I'm keeping up a good momentum to get them finished. We're still far from the end of the year, but progress is definitely being made. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
